Well, how attached to scrogging are you? As it poses problems for those of us who use CFLs.

Closer is better, it will make the most of your light, and for me it seems to promote closer noding. And since you need the light as close as possible, having to keep them under a screen can be problematic. Some solutions;

Lower your lights nearer the screen, however you will have to move them up later in flowering when you stop tucking branches under.

Mobile screen. Mount your screen to the container. That way you can still use things to prop up the container closer to the lights, and the screen will move with the plant.

Third, bail on scrog, and go with LST. It will still improve yield in a small space, and can help you maximize your space/light. Tie it down sideways, so you can train it to grow along the length of you container. Side branches will act more like main branches all the way, and with topping you can widen the plant further.

So instead of looking like this in a screen

B is for Bud.
It will look like this instead;

You can easily bend it at a 90 degree angle, very close to dirt level.
Hope you can make sense of the sweet simple diagrams.

you should consider mounting your screen directly to your pot. fashion some legs that keeps the screen like 8-10 inches off the surface of the soil. then stack some books or boxes or something under your pot so you can keep the canopy the ideal distance from the light throughout the grow.

you could probably fill that pot up a lot more too. i go to the brim because it usually settles over the first couple days. also your plant will "eat" the soil over the course of the grow and you might want to top dress at that point (EWC is ideal for that). i figure maximize your pot; another inch or two of soil = that much more root mass = that much more yield in the end.

also the stem will grow new roots out of the part that gets covered with dirt. new roots = more roots = good. :D

if you go that route, you could build it today and start the training process now.

the other way would be to have your lights able to move up and down, but it looks like they're fixed, so that would probably require more work than the above method.

you should attach the screen to your container somehow that way you can keep the plant as close to the lights as possible. Unless you can drop your lights?

Edit: Well he beat me to it

also when you start scrogging, you don't really have to "weave" it through the screen. it tries to grow towards the light, so al you have to do is keep tucking it under the screen every time it gets a couple inches of growth over the screen. probably every 2-3 days.

that looks good. As the branches grow threw the screen just pull them gently back through the hole and onto the next one it goes. And repeat

You better start flowering soon that "little" girl is going to explode when the lights change and will fill your space up fast.

that looks pretty good! that magnets is a smart idea. i think you're gonna need four hands to move it down as the screen starts to fill in tho (it's still unattached to your container right?)

IMO you wanna get your screen like 75-80% filled before you flip. (although he's right it will explode when you flip, but that's a good thing right :D) maybe take another long shot so we can see how much room you have for stretch? expect to need at least 12 inches above the screen when the pot is on the ground.

keeping your canopy at the ideal distance from your lights throughout the grow will also help keep your stretch in check when that time comes.

i'd say you're looking good!

rather than lower the screen, i'd add more soil or mulch at least. you want to use the minimum height poss while still being able to get your hands in there to train, trim, water, top dress, etc.

17" from the top of the container?

i'd' keep your screen real low then, like just enough to squeeze your hand in there for training and watering. 4-5" even if you can swing it. since you haven't grow this strain before you don't know the stretch, so it's a good idea to leave as much room as you can for that. dealing with height problems later in flower is way trickier.

i still think you'll want to fix your screen to the container (although i really like the magnet mounting method), because when you start flowering your plant is going to be inseparable from the screen and if you want to take it out to look at it or prune it or whatever it'll be way easier attached to the container.

the thing about keeping it close to the lights is that it's just good practice with fluoro lighting, since the light intensity diminishes quickly as you move further from the bulb. you don't have to, your plant will still grow, just slower and stretchier. i just assumed you wanted faster and more compact growth.

maybe move the screen a little further from the light, like 2", so that you'll get some shoots growing above the screen that you can then tuck back under. it looks like you basically have your screen right under your bulbs. if you shorten the distance between the container and the screen (carefully so the plant bends instead of breaks), it should be the perfect distance from the lights w/o having to move the container down yet.

i think things are looking really good! the plant looks really healthy.

as for building a bigger cab, look into LST. you can create a very low, bushy and even canopy with careful training without a screen. the screen is basically just another way of doing the same thing as far as the plant is concerned.
