How many of you guys never flush your coco?

drip-clean was designed to help with salt buildup in your drip-lines (like a soap?). it might help with your coco... but i am not sure...

when you start using less nutes then there will be no buildup in your medium.

IMO, pre-flushing your coco is recommended because most hydro stores have bug problems which enter the mediums they sell. too many times i encountered fungus gnats from compressed brick coco. you may have been lucky with your coco, but i don't take a chance anymore. i even amend it with mosquito bits so i get a head start on the lavre.

pre-flush as a precaution, feed simple and lightly, and reuse your coco.

That would make sense why it did squat for me. My drip lines have never clogged on me so I def don't have a use for the stuff.
Thanks for clearing that up mg75.:tiphat:

You clearly never used drip clean. It's Very cheap. One bottle can last years at .4ml per gallon.

What drip clean does is prevent nute buildup in your medium. The result is much easier grows. If you have your nutes and water figured out, with drip clean lockout is a thing of the past.

The fact that I never ever have run off, I believe I could even be saving money because of drip clean. A lot of people shoot for 19-20% runoff and that's a lot of wasted nutes.

ive had to flush once cause my ph was wacky... my fault...

i never have run off and i feed at 900 ppm .5 conv...

look in my album do i have lockout...

Drip clean 101…

I have used the product for years as I use the entire H&G lineup. It is ( .4ml/g )
Note don’t EVER use this product midway thru a run. Reason being is any and all salts that have been built up due to whatever will flush thru your media and fry your roots instantly and likely kill your plant due to salt toxicity.

Product is meant to be used in early veg and all the way up til harvest. Imagine oil and water they separate and can’t be mixed. Essentially this is what the drip clean does to the salt in your media.

Really good for drip systems as salt buildup in your lines usually is your down fall. Most people don’t go change their lines every couple runs like they should. Using drip clean as recommended I can run drip line for a year and no signs of buildup anywhere.
Also helps in the fact that with H&G you only need a 3 day flush and your herb will taste and burn excellent.

Another note is that without the product you should always as a rule of thumb have runoff at 10-20%. With drip clean in the H&G mix I really only have runoff 1-2 times a week. What does that mean, it means drip clean actually saves money as I drain to waste a I save 10-20% a day over about 5 day a week over 8 -10 weeks of flower. Think about how much of the other nutes (base+ additives) you flushed down the drain over that time.

Not for everyone but when used as per manufacturer’s direction the product is phenomenal however who really ever follows it exactly without a tweak here and there. My .02 anyways:smoke:

Don’t use it half way thru as it will probably fry your roots. Finish of this run and start drip clean as recommended (early in veg). All that salt that is built up (assuming it is) will likely fry your roots and if you don’t fry em you will likely cripple their chances going forward.

To combat the current issue make sure you have 10-20% runoff every watering to battle salt buildup. If you have some type of lockout I would drop ec about 30% for 1-2 days with 20% runoff.

i know people that use it and some that don't. they all produce stellar buds.
i am sure it can help for some, but again... for most strains, i recommend 1000ppm feedings and no crazy additives.

no need to flush if its not in there.

I have been using Drip Clean with my modified 6/9 recipe for a long time. I run Blumats, and only get run off when I hand water my Kool Bloom blasts and for final flush. I asked H&G how long I should flush, and they said 3 days. I prefer 14 days!!!! Drip Clean does not make the salts disappear, trust me I monitor my run-off during final flush. It does however, keep the salts from harming your plants. You do not have to have run-off in Coco to have killer results. I feel as if many people are wasting nutes. If anyone is using Drip Clean, do not buy into a 3 day flush....you will be much happier with the results if you go longer!!!

I agree drip clean is beneficial with almost any nutrient regimen, I have used with canna and botanicare coco lines and it’s my secret weapon. I know it doesn’t make them (salts) disappear what it does is it creates an ionic bond with the salt molecule in your nutrient, making it impossible to build up in your medium. However if not running drip clean and not having runoff in coco I can almost guarantee issues. I feel the quality of coco is a bigger factor imo. As far as the 3 day flush goes that’s specific to the H&G line that it was designed to be used for. Many factors play in when you create your own recipe. If I flushed for more than 4-5 days my plants would start to cannibalize themselves. After 3-4 days I have near 0 ec.

Haha. . . exactly. There's lots of factors that go into what builds up in your medium and how fast it flushes out. This isn't a miracle product, but it does give you an alternative to flushing. I like options, because everyone's garden and logistical challenges are different.

your on some assumption that i have some salt ladden medium.....it gets 30% RO with every watering, already,.....some leaves are on the yellow side so infact their probably more underfed......im sorry but im going to use this regardless, midway, because i dont believe i have any salt build up....ive read my bottle...i see whats in it....high P and some K...which can cause burning at high levels....i know what it does....i will alter my profile accordingly when i apply it

Good luck with that, let us know how it works out.

I run canna coco, canna nutes, and drip clean. I have zero run off (blumats). I never flush until 14 days before chop. Zero issues. Grade A I have been told.

i run canna coco, KISS nutes, and drip clean, I handwater or blumat, either way NO runoff. and...i never flush till 14 days before chop.
