38N... Is it about time to start popping indoor for this years OD

Hey guys I'm around 38N. I have been seeing a few sprouts pop up in a container I have outside right now (they popped on their own). They are about a week old (hit 70+ degrees Farinhight last week). My question is... Is it still a bit early to start popping indoors for my OD plot. I am a little green behind the ears on OD poping timetable... I do know April 15 is the date that frosts are gone and I herd about 4-6 week veg is good before putting them out. TIA :thank you:

I'm stoked about this years OD grow. I like grow'n OD better than my indoor grows for some odd reason. :dance013:

I'm told at our lat that you can't put plants out much before early June unless oyu have supplemental lighting. otherwise the days are too short and they will flower immediately.

I have 120 rooted clones in 4" pots of coco, they go into a separate veg room under 6 X1kw MH in a few weeks until early June. I'm hoping with a 2-3 month veg they should be around 6' tall by early June, so they can grow into proper trees when put outside into their 400g holes of custom soil. Good luck this season!

That is why you should grow from seed. If you grow from clone you should wait till June. Seeds you can start in March if the weather permits. I perfer to put a plant grown from seed in veg indoors for 2 weeks to a month, then put outside around May 1st. I check for a 2 week forecast and if the weather looks legit, they go out. I live at 38 degrees also.

37n.

I take cuttings to root or I put my seeds down for germination on April 1, transplant to the OD on May 1. Ive seen frost in early may, but frost wont hurt a 30 day old plant. Clones are even more frost resistant.

For me its plant size that dictates my start time. The maximum height for me is six inches, then it has to go out, anything bigger puts me at more risk. Usually I start my stuff 3 weeks before planting, which is late May.

!

i dunno about that... we be at 40n, i plant my clones between the 10/20th of may, never had any plants flower immed... our problem is being surrounded by H2O, by the 20th of sept, mold rears it ugly head, and within 2 weeks, our crop is ruined...well 75% is toast... so need a mold resistant/earlier flowering plant (s)

Have you tried any of the HFH strains? They are bred at 55n in Denmark and most are mold resistant.

I have grown from both seeds and clones and many strains will go into flower by me if put out in early May (lat 43). Mid may there's a few that still do. But by close to June everything seems to roll along just fine. I put out plants that are over a foot tall too so maturity might play a roll in things flowering to.

If you want to be safe put em out June 1st or have some suplimental light on em.

38N on the nose here. Last few years mine have gone out April 15th. I usually go for a 4 week veg, but if you want 6 then I would start it now.
One thing to take into consideration is the actual environment your patch will be in. Some areas will stay a little cooler for a week or two after the other areas start to 'warm up'. You know the drill, deep cover overhead and/or water near by, etc.

Size determines when mine go out as well. Ten inches with the cup to fit in backpack. Six cups per trip.

Seeds started indoors around Apr full moon. At about 41 N, planting at site(s) begins middle of May. Some years I've had frost damage as late as May 28. Once rooted well, the 5-7 week old babies survive.

Thanks guys for the great info as usual. I am doing both seeds and clones this year. I know they are a bit different on planting dates. Clones can go out a little later. Seedlings usually can go out around mid april at 38n (planting date goes later the higher lat you go). I am planning on starting seeds pretty soon maybe a week or two. Clones prob going to cut and root end of March. I have a plan TYVM :tiphat:
