I think ditch the net pot, use a 5gal as you suggest but just drill a shit ton of holes in the bottom only. I think that is what heath does. If a 5gal is too deep you can get 3gals which are shorter.

Keep the bad ass double t water fall in there and get us a top feed option to help keep the Hydroton moist and root filled (heath and billy liar). Maybe the to feed could be on a valve / timer so you could have some dry hours during the day?

As for setting up the pumps and pump size, someone else will know better because I'm still using airstones and no water falls

Thanks for your input,I think I will use a 3gal bucket as a net pot.

So do you think I'll need a top feed if I have the net pot submerged an inch or 2?

If I do a top feed maybe I'll add a second smaller pump dedicated to just a 1/2" top feed on a timer.

I think the top feed for 8 - 12 hours a day will really help develop roots all the way through the entire 3gal of hydroton. I think having it dry 12 - 16 hours a day should let the plant build big strong support roots above the res / fill level. I like one inch up the three gal bucket and holes in the bottom only.

So I've been doing a lot of reading on the Heath style. There are a few other guys really helping toss the knowledge. Cyat, Billy Liar, DHF, and some others are really sharing the good stuff.

Any way the discussion behind holes on the bottom only is to reduce "cord" roots out of the side. These guys speculate that roots left in the air twist and become big strong cords. Their thoughts are that these roots are of lesser quality than fine fish-bone roots.

With the holes only at the bottom the cord roots should stop at the water line and send only fine roots out the bottom.

Wit the set up you drew you had two tees in there blasting water all around so I thought it would be better to have the sides solid so as to not over water the 3gal, because with the tees and holes in the side you may end up keeping all the hydroton wet 24/7. That may in turn drown the plant or keep it from developing the strong support roots around the stem and through the top of the hydroton.

I am not completely sure that cord roots are bad, I've heard for a grower I REALLY respect that the cord roots are good for helping the plant get O2 from the air in the hydroton, and if there is a gap or side holes in the net pots those cords should also help with O2 uptake from the air in the bucket.

Nice! Oh and in the drawing I put up its hard to make out but I plan to cut a 5 gallon bucket to where there are no bottom and sides except for where the Tees
Shoot towards the roots to prevent and over soaking/root damage.

So HS do you think maybe setting the plant in the 3gal in a E&F tray for a couple weeks would be benificial to build the roots in the bucket before letting them explode out the bottom?

That's one of the ones that was in my E&F,I'm thinking doing that but in a 3 gallon bucket.

I just ordered some of rezes Chemdog ibl and a buddy local has some chem x power k beans for me too so I might have to weave out a female to grow in this system. Wish I could be growing a asteroid in it tho.

I'm also gonna start crossings of my own as soon as I have some strong chem ibl daddys its on,chem ibl x lvpk is gonna be under way along with some other crosses like chem ibl crossed with trainwreck,BBK,frostitute,bubba kush,pineapple god and I still wanna order some other genetics to start crossing with.

We need to get this asteroid movement rolling ASAP cuz I fore see some amazing things coming from it.

Hahahaha asteroid pollens gonna hit some shit in my room for sure. I have some chem sourd beans going now and that will be the first male I cross to a bunch of shits in my stable and PKs one of them.
I have a little 2x2 tent just for breeding. Im gonna throw little 1 1/2-2 week old clones in there with 1 male and let them do the dirty I figure Ill be able to squeeze about 8- 10 plants in there.

Those beans "Asteroid" were a very small run made by DominicanGreen on just a couple of branches. I think they have all been passed out, but the ICmagers growing them are your friends so I'm sure next time a meteor shower occurs your garden will have an impact crater or two.

Nice! I can't wait to get some elite genetics going,was lookin in on weedbeat seeds and they have some pretty awesome crosses that I might gt to play with.

I'm also gonna play with the chemdog ibl,CD ibl x power kush,frostitute,lvpk,CD kush,hopefully SD IBL,querkle by subcool and qleaner.

I'm thinking in the future I'm gonna set up another room with decent sized trees both male and female and cross on a large quantity scale.

I think I might start a poll on what to cross first,what do you guys think?

Man are these lvpk blowing up like crazy,just added back ro and nutes ppm are at 690 and ph is at 5.7.

Here's a few pix

They are all between 16 and 20" tall and just over half that wide,I probably won't beable to flip for another week or so cuz I need some bloom nutes.

Which reminds me,I plan to run AN 3 part at 0-6-9 ratio G M B with big bud,botanicare sweet,koolbloom powder and overdrive.

Was wonderin if any of yall lvpk growers could help me with creating a week by week nute reg?

Basicly lvpk is a 9+ week strain yeah?

Thinking start bloom nutes only for first week then supplement 200ppm with big bud from weeks 2-5,and start sweet @ 100ppm week 3 or so til first week flush and start overdrive week 6-7 and flush week 8-9.

Week 1- base nutes only @ 700ppm

Week 2-bring ppm down to 500 base and add 200ppm of big bud bringing it back up to 700

week 3-adding sweet bringing ppm up to 800 ppm

Week 4- maintain ph

Week 5- add 50ppm koolbloom bringing ppm up to 850(planned max ppm)

week 6-flush and refill with 400ppm of base with 100ppm of sweet and 200ppm of overdrive making it 700ppm

Week 7-bring it down to 500ppm with 200ppm of base 100ppm sweet and 200ppm overdrive

week 8-flush for 24hr then flush again to rinse any base nutes out and add 100ppm sweet only

week 9-flush 3 times during the week and drop the chiller to 58 or so (right BG?)

That may be hard to understand at first.

You should pull up DominicanGreens "Purple Kush Unit" he posts his mix. I would personally NOT use SWEET. I would instead substitute AN CarboLoad or Botanicare's Clearex. Sweet has non sugar ingredients like magnesium phosphate. Your plants aren't showing any mag def so I'd say no to sweet.

Awesome input HS,so carboload huh? They don't look def cuz I use botanicares calmag+,I also add aquashield too just to put that out there.

What about maybe bud candy?

I ran it last time with no broblems.do you think I could use it same ppm instead of sweet? Fucking guys at the hydro shop gave me sweet because they were out of bud candy,they swore it would do the same thing as bud candy.

And your talking about DG nute mix? Can you recalect a certain page on his thread?

Can't remember the page, but it is a photo of his typed up feeding schedule so you'll see a pix that looks like a spread sheet.

Running through that thread and looking at photos is fun.

I think Bud Candy is a P/K booster? I haven't used it personally however I haven't heard bad reports either.

What I would say is that the LVPK doesn't want a lot of P/K booster, just a little touch will do for her. She LOVES the carboload, clearex, humbolt honey, etc.

Also is your sweet raw or flavored? I really don't like the flavored stuff because LVPK doesn't need a flavor additive; her natural flavor is just wonderful.
