Which CFL type?

I went to B&Q today, and even though they sell CFLs there, they did not sell 42watt ones!

23watters work good for smaller boxes as in say a pc case just have to have more of them

All the 42 watt CFLs I've looked at, had a label indicating that they were only to be used in a vertical upright position with the socket below the bulb.

42watters produce more heat and they state that to cover there asses as the ballast will eventually fry in a application where they arent getting enough cooling, as in like a recessed light, or standard desk lamp

LoKey, If you use Google chrome as your browser, It will ask you if you want to tranlaste the webpage

yeah ive translated it before, but alot of information gets lost in the translation (tech details in a another language getting mushed through a generic translator), so i just dont read it well i guess until i learn how to read Spanish

I've had the same 42w CFLs running 12-18 hours a day for two years running horizontally in a high temp environment. They aren't failing. I mix spectrum with my bulbs. I use six 42w CFL in a 17 inch x 17 inch space. There's 3 2600k and 3 6500k. Alternating each bulb.

I'm happy with the results.

You don't wanna try to grow trees with your CFLs. You should be maxing your plants out at about 1.5ft tall if you want bud all the way to the soil. If you want SOLID NUGS all the way to the soil, you want plants that are about a foot tall when they finish.

not are cfls are created equal just like not all hps bulbs are, try g.e bulbs for your 2700k's, home depot n lowes are shit ime, spectrum is not just right. if u run them side by side youll see the differance in quality of light

A lumen is a lumen no matter what you think your eyes are telling you. Maybe what you noticed is a cfl that has been used and you put your new GE bulb next to it. I doubt you bought a bunch of different brands and ran your own tests to determine which bulb is cranking out the higher lumens. If you have Id love to see that data. I know you to be a forum troll so I'll just leave it at that.

42w CFLS produce the most lumens for the wattage. They are the most efficient. I wish I could find the lighting chart that showed it. Its on this forum.

"Look at a lumen/watt ration of various CFL's. The higher the wattage of CFLs, the lower the lumen/watt ratio. This chart was submitted by Jerry Garcia, a grow buddy from another grow site, and edited for typos.

For example...

the 200w listed at 9250 lumens for a lumens/watt ratio of 9250/200=46.25

the 150w is listed at 7500 lumens for a l/w ratio of 7500/150=50

the 125w is listed at 6500 lumens for a l/w ratio of 6500/125=52

the 42w are listed for 2700 lumens, l/w ratio of 2700/42=64.28

I have some 26w that give off 1700 lumens for a l/w ratio of 1700/26=65.38

GE lists some 13w that give off 825 lumens for a l/w ratio of 825/13=63.46

So, according to these numbers the most efficient bulbs for growing are the 26w that emit 1700 lumens. If you used 8 26w bulbs (208 watts total) you'd be getting 13,600 lumens...4,350 more lumens than a single 200 watt CFL. AND the eight 26 watt bulbs would cost less than the one 200 watt bulb."

Never said one thing about lumens, i said spectrum/qaulity of light, wish u high idiots could read at least a sentence coherently, ill say it again= just because a bulb says 2700 k doesnt mean its identical to another brand that says 2700k, home depots cfls in 2700k range are bunk much like lowes are.

spectrum is more important then lumens, cfls generally grow higher quality pot then hid's, the spectrum is a higher quality

are you dumb? do you even grow?

seriously...

every post i read of yours is misinformation, time and time again.

as far as home depot cfl bulbs being shit, again, do you even grow?

sometimes i wonder if you just post bullshit just to troll people. pls just stop posting theres no point anymore.

2700K does great for veg and flower both, tbh.

I like the big boy 65w 2700s from lowes, and 42w 6500 to give it a mix. I use 4 of each for flowering and get decent results out of a 2 foot by 2 foot box.

You got me! I was really trying to put out some misleading information. You being a douche was a great call! Good stuff billy that is what I was looking for.

dont sweat it, this cats been on my ignore list for months, trolls lov to troll. use your ignore list, makes the ic very peacefull.

TokenBone,
You still working out that kitchen cab cfl grow, your 400 grow, your 250 horizontal grow or are you just playing with your imaginary friends today, poseur?
I cant believe you have the nerve to post here after Simon smacked you down and proved the only thing you are capable of growing is yellow toenails.

The more cfl's you can use, the better...I used a mix spectrum throughout the whole grow..For bloom I used 1 6500k and the rest soft whites....or 2500k....I had 191 watts of cfl's in my pc...lol...
Just remember they get VERY hot so use a strong exhaust but no intake fan.....to cool 191 watts , I had a 250 cfm exhaust fan...
good luck bro!!

My pc case have a exhaust and intake fan, should i eliminate the intake fan? Its just a small grow.

If you eliminate the intake fan (which I recommend), you will need twice the intake area as the exhaust area. If you have a 120mm exhaust, you will need two 120mm passive intake holes.
