Look, as I posted above already, the below is all it boils down to. It has absolutely nothing to do with America or Europe or whoever.
[/b]

please.... dont even try. It has, why do you think africa is so poor in the first place, and to this day foreign corporations are draining the countries of their resources. Why do you think the richest continent in the world in terms of natural resources is the poorest.

either you join the militia, guerillas or become a pirate like above said

Yeah it's all about corruption, power and not willing/unable to get along with each other.

And then use the above as an excuse to carry out the frustration on innocent foreign citizens, often for personal gain!

no offence but you really need to look/think outside the box before commenting on a subject you barely knew nothing about ....

i had that thinking/ideas just like you about the pirates until i start talking to them and found the truth why/how it all happened...

so until you know the truths, please dont comments on subject like this

why do you think american and other countries wont kill these pirates and let them go ??/ think think think ;)

cheers,,,

I have lived in several parts of Africa for a total of a few years.
Flew Helis for an Aid company, supervised a road building project and a few more mostly humanitarian projects.

Guess what I still was called all the time by most Africans?

A Slavemaster!

Have YOU been to Africa, do you KNOW what's going on there?
Or do you just go by what has been fed to you by the (American?) press?

These people over there on the African continent are mostly in a more or less advanced "out of control" situation.

Again (3rd time now) in the majority of the African countries it is all about who "can run over who" and not "how can we get this mess sorted out".

I don't even have to think think think lol...it's pretty obvious if they ain't got no oil...then it ain't worth protecting.

Once that piracy thing has gotten out of hand a bit more...someone will do something about it. Even if it will be only more drastic methods how to handle them while out on sea.

It's not about hungry Somalians anymore, it is all about organized crime over there!

I have - have you?

PS: And because they're out of control over there it justifies to capture a few retirees and kill them? Or others that have absolutely nothing to do with Somalia and were just passing by in INTERNATIONAL waters?

While Western nations want to posture and portray themselves as liberal and humanitarian, then this situation will continue. Do Chinese ships get hijacked? Im curious.

With the comment above, i seriously need to stop talking to you about this subject as you know nothing about this and think you knew every thing about it.

This is sad, people killing each other.

Having few friends in the navy, brother included, I am very aware of the situation. Two of them almost get caught by the pirates (gulf of guinea), this is no fun.
May these 4 american rest in Peace.

I m really amazed by the jumping on conclusions so fast. Let's kill them all, let's put death penaly, Bla bla bla. Have you ever travelled to a third world country ?

Do you have any idea what it is like to see your family dying from starvation in front of you, while they are boats that if you could just take a bit of their merchandises you would save your family ? They since have to join the fucking pirates.

Do you know that the average salary per month for an officer of commercial navy is around 5000 euros a month, which would feed around 500 people for a month.

Do you know that an average prisonner in the us cost between 18000 and 31000 $ per year, which would feed around 150 people there.

Do you know we are stealing their ressources without giving any money back to the population, but rather to a corrupted government that finances the pirates.

America's interests in Somalia: Four major U.S. oil companies are sitting on a prospective fortune in exclusive concessions.

Half of the population starving

Let's put our hazardous wastes in somalia

Good money to "fight" the pirates

Let's give them some food, help them, and they will have no reason to come after us.

Yes i've been to africa and I have loads of african friends, its not the first time i discuss this issue and I have heard the other part of the story once you do that you will understand...thats all i can say really, and if you dont, then its an intellectual loss for you my friend

so, really I dont go by what the press says, and not the american for that part.

and again.... im not even replying to your saying for the 3rd time, what im saying i basicly that this shit happens for a reason, and you speak of these people like they were some kind of maffia looking to kill and ripp people off to be able to buy bentleys and a 10mil $ home.

this problem is a backslash of some bigger issues going on... which ive already tried to explain..

SO my friend

what it goes down to basicly is, will you kill to survive, yes you would, this is what these ppl are doing.

And they also want world attention from killing americans, they are hoping maybe governments start looking at this issue if ppl are killed,

cause no one seems to give a shit that overseas corporations are empting the coasts of fish with huge fishing boats to make fish oil omega 3 tabblets, while a whole village is starving to death.

I don't give a shit how poor they are it doesn't give them the right to kidnap and murder people.

GET IT.

So you want to bribe these barbarians so they don't rob and kill us. lol

Piracy in Somalia is NOT done by individuals, it is organized crime making just a very few rich!

Piracy in Somalia does NOT put one bit of food on starving peoples plates.

Someone else posted he has Somalian friends in the US that used to be very poor
(like every one else there is, besides the few running the organized crimes). He also posted those friends are one of the hardest workers he has met.

Makes me wonder how those now hard workers were able to flee their so poor country and why they ran instead of trying to fix it?
If it is true what he wrote then I can only hope they came to the US as recognized refugees...

Q: Whats the last thing you should do in a hostage situation involving desperate fuckers with little regard for their own life let alone the lives of some rich American hostages.

A: Roll up in a big ass warship, block thier passage, start shouting orders and pointing guns.

Doesen't take a rocket scientist to figure out the 3 most likely outcomes.

1. Pirates surrender peacefully....not very likely
2. Let them go and start negotiations while also planning a properly executed rescue if negotiations fail...this seems to be the norm or atleast used to be.
3. Everybody dies.

Someone posted on my local news blog a video of how the Russians dealt with pirates. I wish i knew where the video is now, cant find it anywhere. Anyways, when the pirates tried to hijack a tanker, the Russians dropped commandos onto the ship, took it back, rounded up the pirates. They took their weapons and blew up their boat. Then they set the pirates in an inflatable boat with no navigational equipment 100's of miles off shore.
