Growroom/Tent heater

Hello everyone. :tiphat:

Im wasn't sure where to put this thread but Im growing Indoors using Hydroponics so I hope its in the right place. If not please accept my apologies.

Basically I have a new problem in my growing life but first a little history about myself.

I have recently moved from Ireland to England. I used to grow back in Ireland for a few years (strictly personal consumption, never for re-sell)

We (myself and the Mrs) got some really really nice buds from some of the grows. Actually probably the best one was from Seeds we brought home from Jamaica. Just seeds that was left over in the bag of not so great tourist weed we bought on the beach out there. Happy days :dance013:

Anyway

I had my tent set-up in a spare bedroom so heating was never an issue.

Now that I have moved house and country Iam forced to change somewhat. Due to my new house being a lot smaller than my previous one I have been forced to buy a smaller Growtent (76cm x 76cm x 1.2m) and set it up in the Attic space. A very very cold attic space at this time of the year!!

I went up this morning to check on my baby (Blue Cheese) and to my horror the temp was down to 7.5 Deg!!! I knew it would get cold up there but I didn't think it would get THAT low in the 4 hours of darkness.

I have put in a temporary blow heater (not facing the plant in any way) but I hate using these things. I really dont trust them but I dont want my baby to die so it will have to do until I buy a proper heater.

Thats where you guys come in

What kind of heater am I looking for?

Would a small 400w Panel heater be the right option for me?

Also. What is the perfect temperatures and humidity I'm looking for in light and dark hours?

Thanks for taking the time to read this and I would really appreciate any help.

Many thanks in advance

If you have your ballast outside the tent, it is a source of heat, you might move it inside and take that heat. Beyond that I'll let folks on your side of the pond give you the answers you need, good luck. In old farm houses, they would just cut a hole in the floor and let the heat rise through a simple vent.

Welcome DrRav.
First: day temp 25/27, Night temp 18/20c.Humidity veg 55/70%, flower 40/50%.
One problem you will run in to when you add a heater is condensation, as tents do not offer enough insulation. What i would suggest is getting a couple sheets of insulation and fully box in the tent, bottom, top, sides (double glazing),with a tight fit door that can be removed for access.
As for a heater, a 200w panel heater will do but there are also reptile heaters or electric underfloor heating, which are lower wattage and do not get dangerously hot.
Good Luck

my teps go as low as 16c without a heater, i have a 1000w oil filled
radiator that cost £31.00 from argos.it has three settings 400,600 and a 1000w
my tent is 2 x 1.2 x 2m (budbox xl) and on the 400w setting it takes the lights off temps
upto 18.5c.
i think a 400w oil filled radiator would be enough for your tent, make sure you cover
any lights on the heater though i forgot once and got a hermie.

Get yourself some styrofoam to put on the bottom, inside the tent. Also, dial back the exhaust, so that the light does more work.

I agree with styrofoam underneath, insulation for the cab or loft or do what im gonna do and buy an oil panel heater, they are small and come with thermostats so you can set it to 20 and it will then turn off.The smaller ones are only 400 max so on half power may only be 200wtts,those fan heaters can be 2kw!!
