The Official MMA Discussion

sure, h may do better at 205, but does the man have it in him to...one, cut the weight...and two, change his lifestyle. lets face it, fedor is a doughy fuck.

when cutting to 205, there wont be any room for cotton candy and roller coasters.

with the thoughts of retirement swirling around in his head, it doesnt seem to me that the man wants to deal with cutting weight.

at this point i give Barnett and Reem equal chances of winning the tourney

and equal chances of pissing hot

:)

bigfoot and sergei also have a shot, but i dont think rogers or werdum are gonna cut it. werdum relies too much on ground game, rogers on brawling.

----

as for ducking people, i think fedor has fought almost every elite HW besides the new improved overeem (est. 2007), and Barnett. sure, he could have joined UFC and fought carwin, cain velasquez, or JDS, but those are the only 3 fighters ufc has to offer fedor at this point, and all 3 are relatively new to the sport.

fedor's management, if anyone, is to blame for turning down fights ALLEGEDLY, but to hate on the man himself is mean spirited i think

bottom line, he entered the HW tourney, so can we stop talking about ducking fighters plz?

Overeem seems to have his cycle down pretty well, so I don't think he will be stupid enough to get busted at his point. He has already passed tests over the last few years.

Rogers called Fedor a pussy on his twitter after he hinted at a retirement, hah, what the fuck have you ever done Rogers? fat tub of shit

Yeah its looking like josh and reem too me as well. I was the first to vote for josh. I have watched Barrett for years. He got really good ground skills with decent standup. He also has the easier side of the tournment. He's going to get that Russian on the ground and either submit or easy decision. Then on to the finals.
Roids. Yeah I love watching guys come over to japan and in 3 months of training they come out and look completely huge and usually with a lot of new back zits. Yeah there's a lot roid use in the UFC too. Good old Randy is totally on. At 45 you don't have 4% BF and look like him without it. I don't care how much you, "eat right, say your prays and workout, brother!"

Jeez, I got caught. I will have to come out with the truth now. I hired a Macumbeiro (Brazilian witch doctor) and we killed a black chicken on the crossroads. After this, over a few beers, I showed the witch doctor Fedor’s fights, and he was worried that a chicken wouldn’t be enough, so we went out and killed a black goat just to make sure. Very potent stuff. Really messed Fedor’s brain waves up."

"We wanted to try that other military stuff Voronov is talking about, but it’s expensive technology and we were broke. The chicken and the goat came out way cheaper. Witch doctor is a friend; he did it for a few beers and an autograph."

So how much has happened over the last couple weeks I don't even know where to start.

First, that kick Anderson landed on Vitor's face was one of the my top ten "holy shit, I can't believe what I just saw moments" in MMA easy. Totally shocking. It's got to be the frontrunner for knockout of the year thus far. Wow. It just goes to show that Anderson has that potential to finish any man in any number of ways at any moment if he really engages and wants to. The tools that he has as a striker are one of a kind in MMA. Will Yushin finally get his title shot now?

And Bones Jones' win over Bader was tremendous and as a big fan of Shogun for years now I have to admit I'm a little nervous about this upcoming title fight. Bones has been putting in serious work.

Anyone catch Tachi Palace Fights this Friday? I havn't seen it yet but unranked Ian McCall upset the top ranked flyweight in the world Jussier Da Silva. That could actually end up as upset of the year when all is said and done. I really hope that the UFC adopts the flyweight division in the near future so that that division can really get straightened out and aligned where most of the top guys can fight each other. I draw the line at flyweight though - I don't want to see them go any lower than that because there just isn't enough talent.

I'm definitely not feeling a super-heavyweight division though. Where would the line lines be drawn between heavy and super-heavy? And the heavyweight division is only now just beginning to shape up into a decent division with some really elite talent and it'd be a shame to set it back and thin it out dramatically by breaking it up into two seperate weight classes when it's just finally starting to break ground and play catch up.

I don't Fedor being smaller was the whole problem - he's just getting older and falling behind the pack. It happens to every man. He's beaten bigger men many times before and look who's current UFC champion. Cain has been beating alot of much larger men including a mammoth Lesnar. A smaller frame can benefit in a wide open division like heavyweight if you have the right combination of skills and techniques. I'd take a much faster, mobile, co-ordinated heavyweight in Cain or Dos Santos over a hulking guy like Lesnar or Carwin who really rely on their size and power anyday. Size can be a big problem for alot of people to deal with but there's an answer for everything and guys like Cain and Junior have that. Fedor is just sliding. To be honest though - I still think he has some wins left in him at the upper level. The unfortunate thing is that his recent skid has crushed his value to the UFC so much that it's pretty much a guarantee now that he'll never set foot in the octagon. It's a shame.

Oh and one more - Chad Mendes is officially Aldo's biggest threat in the UFC. This fight has to happen next. That's assuming Aldo gets past Hominick - and I think he will.

UFC exile Paul Daley has a fight coming up this saturday in England for the "BAMMA Welterweight Title" against DEEP welterweight champion Yuya Shirai.

Why are Strikeforce lending him out instead of putting together a fight between himself and Nick Diaz for the Strikeforce title? What does Strikeforce have to gain in this loan of theirs? If somehow this fight messes up a future fight with Diaz it'll be a huge shame. Strikeforce boggles my mind sometimes.

Fitch should have got the decision over penn--that 3rd round pounding was vicious.even Penn admitted he thought he lost

really hoped Bisping would get knocked the f*ck out--never have liked him but rivera turned out to be all mouth.Bisping with the illegal knee and the request for apology after the fight reinforced my longtime dislike of this dude.

Does the UFC have something against Asian fighters or something? lol

Seems like like every UFC undercard some Asian dude ends up beating the shit out of his opponent and ends up losing.......a real head scratcher if you ask me.
