C99

Of the versions out there, which offers the longest ride? (heard cindy's high is short-lived)

Which one offers the 'kindest' effect(least paranoia, racyness)?

All the current offerings are derived from the Grimm bros. originals. They are mostly bred towards the Pineapple or Grapefuity phenos. I've ran F2's from original Grimm stock. I wouldn't call the buzz short lived. It hits hard at first and gradually tapers off. If you want a kinder effect, go with a hybrid, since Cindy tends to breed fairly true in the buzz department. At least that's my experience taking them to F3.

I found the Cindy F2's and F3's a bit too racy and preferred crosses to the straight Cindy genetics. I think it makes a hell of a parent plant, imparting a shorter flower time and more resin to crosses. That's my opinion, your mileage may vary.

Look at the various Dutchgrown Seeds crosses. She uses Cindy in a number of her crosses. You will probably find something that strikes your fancy.

It is always better to take the original Brother Grimm.
Unfortunately, since 2005, no C99 seeds produced by BG.

Dutch Grown has a good alternative

Great info! I'd love to see some pics of your C99 and crosses!

I'm running my first C99 hybrid now, a cross of Chem D X C99 and can definitely say that this hybrid is dominated by the C99, which really surprised me! The smell is very tropical and ALL Cindy, as I also have a Chem D and this plant looks/smells nothing like it.

Is C99 leggy? Does she get pretty tall with long leaf stems and that overall "leggy" look? I only ask cause that's how my hybrid looks. The smell is just amazing, although only about 2 - 2 1/2 weeks into flower.

I read somewhere that Fairlight's C99 is super close to Grimm's. In a Seedbay forum thread. They are/were available on the bay for $35 a pack. Encouraging to hear about the high's longevity. I like it to last.

I'm inclined to think that the short lived high has more to do with the growing method and harvest window - I would think if you had a C99 with a short-lived high that overflowering her a little and nice cure could add some legs to the high . . .

What do you think?

look no father than my sig, or my avatar for pics (or my gallery)

The avatar is Hash Plant x C99. That was easily the most potent herb I've ever grown. I used a Seedsman HP (NL#1 x HP f1) mom x a C99 f2 dad. Zombie weed!

My sig is Mr Greengenes Cherry Bomb (Maui Wowee IBL) mom x the same C99 dad. He chunked up the CB and cut about a week off the CB flower time. Didn't step on the CB traits other than that, but did add a Pineapple pheno to the mix

C99 did not get leggy. Grew more like an Indica dom, with medium nodes. Kinda weak stems IMO (even using a fan), buds tended to bend the side branches towards end of flower.

Like I said, a bit racy for my liking, but awesome parent stock, and potent stuff.

Interesting, when I said leggy I should have stated I meant weak stemmed. Vegged under flouros I didn't get great nodal spacing, but under the HIDs for bloom it's much better.

Here is a shot of my Chem99 at day 18 of flower, let me know if this looks familiar to you. My Chem D is so indica and dark green, this plant is lime and the leaves are thinner and smaller with shallower serrations.

Does this look C99 dom in your opinion? I can tell you that smell is very tropical and fruity, which is what shocked me, because I really thought the Chem would dominate this cross.

Yeah, it does. C99 has a medium width leaflet, very much like your pics. Also, they do have a very fruity smell, though during veg it's not very strong. The smell gets more pronounced toward the end of flower.

In my HP x C99 cross, the C99 just added a bit of tropical/citrus to the Hashiness of The HP. It didn't really alter the appearance, though it added more resin. Flower time on both was about the same, so it didn't change that.

In the CB x C99, it merely added bulk to the flowers. The leaflets were long and thin (maybe even longer and thinner than the CB was originally) and added a Pineapple pheno to the mix. The CB was already fruity, so the real change was a week off the CB flower time and the bonus Pineapple pheno.

Funny how genetics combine. I'd have guessed the Chem would have dominated too, based on my own experience with C99, but you never know. I imagine if you grew out enough, you'd find a more Chem dom plant.

Regardless, I'll bet she turns out BOMB!

A question - just what is it about the high that makes some people paranoid? I mean specifically C99. Just the sheer power? Or some more specific effect, something that could maybe be bred out?

Anyone have any insights??

She'll probably never smoke again, after that. Maybe she was nervous around the guy, and the smoke magnified it.

I have been running wallyduck's c99 for a few runs. Any one know how wally's C99 stacks up against the originals?

Taste and Smell are out of this world fruity, caramel, candy.

High is very heady, very energetic. A few good tokes will last a strong hour then start to taper off. Initial kick could be stronger, but i can't really complain, it's my top choice at the moment.

The only thing i'm disappointed in is the yield. Definitely the lowest yielding strain I've run yet. I've still got some dialing in to do though, and this current run is looking better than the past.

Peace!
