What is Seattle like?

What makes Seattle as nice as it is comes from studying and emulating (copying actually) the real scene in Portland. Seattle is known as 'Portland Lite' by most in the PNW.

Too many Microsofties up there - nothing kewl about programmers, eh?

That was said "tongue in cheek" I take it.

Portland is okay, but if anything is lite, it is Portland. Portland is a cool little cultural place, but nowhere near the city that Seattle is in culture, money, prestige, etc. What is Portland known for (from those outside the city)? Seattle is the Space Needle, Jets (Boeing), Microsoft and the weather. Portland just has the weather.

Seattle opted out of the basketball market for some reason a couple of years ago. We built new venues for baseball and football, but when the Sonics held us up for a new arena we told them no thanks.

I love Portland, but Seattle is not copying it. Seattle is the place that the Alaska Gold Rush got all of the supplies. Seattle is the home of indoor skunk bud. Seattle is the place that made the first commercial jet manufacture. Seattle is a huge port for commerce with Asia and on and on.

Still, I love Portland for other reasons. So don't get me wrong.

I'll tell you one Seattle entity that they can have back any time they're interested - i.e. SBC

That's "Seattle's Best Coffee" - seriously?

And if they're interested they can pack-up the Starbucks operations while they're at it.

washington is good but in washington they like to make sure everyone has fingerprints on file.. They have a high min wage and great economy because everyone workes there life paying off fines. but everyone including the cops all smoke so they dont care but weed, just the fact your growing makes them jeleous.

Oregon has the beautiful beaches, high desert and a culture that is not derived from money. Most people I know in Oregon are very real as a result. I generally prefer to date the women in Oregon. The weed sucks there though. Never smoked any Oregon bud that was any good and I have smoked a ton down there.

I would agree that most of the cannabis in and around Portland is dismal and I'm being kind in that assessment. There are a couple of organizations (MMJ groups) that move that process along with their misinformation and general gibberish.

I'm glad I grow my own medicine and do not have to rely on the experts floating around the OMMP paradigm. To say the least.

They wouldn't even be missed... there's more coffee in Seattle than Colombia.

True enough Clack, the best way to insure a reliable weed source is to grow you own. I just know a ton of MMJ gets produced down there and harvested a month early. You have breeders like Sub Cool down there endorsing MMJ grows of his wears and they are not even ripe yet. But what are you gonna do, it starts raining in November and we all know what that does to indica bud.

I have a lot of love for Portland, but compared to Seattle it is Apples and Oranges. I was at Hempstock this year and the Rose Festival. I am in Portland as much as Seattle. Good food, good people and and good coffee. Pretty sites and a great culture.
