If you dont have your card, and get caught smoking or with a few ounces on you. they take your weed and issue you a citation. the weed alone will cost you a couple hundred dollars. then the ticket, the public defender, and the time you gotta waste to go to court will cost you another couple hundred.

my buddy got pulled over speeding without his rec and two ounces. it ended up costing him around 700 dollars in lost weed and court fines.

Every in n out burger seems to always be hiring and at $12 an hour, way higher than fast food wages in UK! The average teacher in cali gets paid close to $60,000 in the UK it's about £30,000. There are plenty of oppurtunities in cali you just have to work as hard as the mexicans!

3) Even the cities in Cali are way cheaper than the UK especially Southern england. A pack of ciggies cost $4-5 in LA, in London it's about £7. The price of petrol is beautiful in Cali compared to England.

4) $2,000 (about £1200) Will get you a small 1 bed flat in a poorer area in London, probably ex-council. Rest of Uk isn't much better. Cali has cheaper living costs and people seem to get higher wages and still people complain! Nothing at all against you just a theme I notice amongst Californians who seem unable to admit how good they have it.

Your right, the vast majority of bay area residents are pretty rich in todays standards, you just don't get nearly as much bang for your buck as anywhere else. He probably just doesn't want more people to move here, i dont either, it's so fucking overpopulated it's a joke, i can't leave i was born and raised here. i don't drive from 3-8 on 101 because the traffic is shit everywhere and every other driver is horrible (azn grandma). The population nearly doubled from 2000-2010 im guessing. The last thing we need is more people here..

It's only expensive if you want to live lavishly. $2000 a month will put you in a small nice studio/apartment in decent location of SF, $2000 can get you a small shitty house in South San Francisco or Daily Shitty, but who wants to live there? seriously... i don't know about east bay, i'd only mess with the hills..

And yes, our schools are broke as fuck. The gov loves to cut college funds because the vast majority of college students don't vote or do shit about it. 60-70 people in a class to what should be 25-35 is what im experiencing, and lots of classes were cut.

My card has definitely saved me at least a few times while simultaneously saving at least 1 non-carded person each time. Just to clarify though, you can still get a DUI if you are smoking pot in the car. In fact I would expect (at least in conservative places like SD) a cop to try and give me one. I do know of cops that have not brought DUIs when cards were present. However, they never explicitly say its because of the card. I almost feel like they probably just have lax pot views and would have done the same thing for a non-carded person (assuming the cop isn't the stereotypical authoritarian type...)
TLDR: card might save you from DUI if smoking in vehicle but certainly don't count on it

P.S. As someone else here has mentioned, look into a State Issued Marijuana ID Card. These are given out in much much smaller numbers however (I think San Fransisco issued the most at like ~15K from the date they started issuing about 10 years ago IIRC until 2009.) IIRC if you don't have one of these, even if your county AG, or in some cases CA AG, specifies higher limits, you are constrained to SB 420 and can be arrested for violating those limits. Please someone correct me if I am wrong because I am quite tired and quite stoned.
