growledhydro vs hydrogrowled???

LumiGrow and StealthGrow are a little bit high end and too powerful for the small space I've got. The gotham and other UFO seem a little bit low end. I'm looking for something in the middle with good quality and works well in small spaces. I'm matching these up right now:

GLH Spectra 120 vs HGL Penetrator 63 vs HGL Penetrator Pro 63
and
GLH Spectra 180 vs HGL Penetrator 126 vs HGL Penetrator Pro 126

New 2011 GLH 150 and 240 lights can also be included in comparison.

I have about 11 1/2" W (a bit more for plants but light can't be wider than this) x 15" D x 31 1/2" H (height for cab space needs to accommodate soil and light in addition to plant)

Any feedback, experience, or comparisons on these matchups is really appreciated! I know HGL has gotten a bad rap for attitude and customer service but I am mostly interested in matching up the lights themselves before I consider other factors.

Also recommendations on which light fits best for my space would be great.

Lumigrow 165 ES would be awesome but there would not be nearly enough space for the cooling airflow to exit the light.
Edit: nm, the space is too short to be practical with Lumigrow anyway.

I'd like to see a pair of Kessil magenta lights work that area but they need more vertical height also.

You don't care about bad customer service?

Do you mean HGL as in your title?
The 63W HGL as tested here would fit that space well.
If you think your area could handle more power then simply change to the 3W version. I use the 1W 63 for veg in a small cab with good results. :tiphat:

i use one or 2 126w HGL panels for veg with great results......also check for Verdant Green's threads he uses the 63,105, and 205. Thanks for the link Clowd11

HGL was part of the comparison. I want to compare them to GLH. Does anybody have experience with both lights? I have looked at the 63W Penetrator Pro but am not sure if that would be as good as something from GLH. Especially because of the customer service issues.

:angrymod: Let's stick to the topic people. Flame wars and attacks are not needed.

I am just a noob when it comes to growing, but after having spent literally hundreds ofhours browsing threads, I have personally been more impressed with the GLH grows that I've seen...hope this helps!

are there any solid reviews on penetrator pro vs regular penetrator? im a noob and im interested in a 63w for a micro grow but its already risky trusting LEDs when so many people put them down, let alone paying an extra 80$ for a "pro" model.

The pro model uses 3w LEDs instead of 1w so you're getting a lot more power. I agree with MrRobbyRob though. After my research GLH looks more reliable and probably a better light also.

I was thinking about buying a Pro Penetrator for my stealth cab, 63w.

I am limited by the size as I cant make a box bigger than 50-60cm length, 60 cm width and 70cm height. This would be micro.

Would the 63w from HGL be the best choise, or can i take it up a notch and go with a bigger one, maybe the smallest from GLH as this is only 3-4 inches more in length.

Thank you :)

I wouldnt go a bigger size than the 63w for the cab size your planning. But i would go the 3w version. Im vegging 4 plants with the 1w 63w atm and its doing a stellar job, but if the 3w version was available when i bought mine last year, i def would have grabbed it.

I suggest waiting off on the kessil

I have one, well had 2 but don't know what happened to one of them, got lost in moving..

but I'm gonna show what it can do in a thread later when I sex these auto-flowers ( grew them specifically for this light ) , I don't plan on it doing much, I mean it puts out some light, but I feel the efficiency is killed as it runs so hot, and so concentrated beam..

It really is a crime that those are so expensive. Its a glorified flashlight. There is only one emitter too right? Sorry, but I think you wasted the money unless you trow that next to an HID.

Everything's expensive in the beginning. My Macbook has more power than all of Houston Control had when putting a man on the moon. That's pocket change compared to hundreds of millions of dollars. Prices are dropping like a rock while the tech is getting better everyday. Like everything else, the buyer needs to do their homework.

Everything's expensive in the beginning.

Yeah but it also needs to work!

Otherwise its not only expensive, but useless for its intended purpose thus worthless.

I fully agree with you that people really need to take on some research when laying out cash for LED growlights. There are too many light producers that peddle complete BS when selling their products, while the rest just exaggerate.
The good lights are expensive atm and should come down over time but i wouldnt hold my breath while waiting, the cost of quality diodes still dictate build cost. Compared with HID, every grow the saving increases as you consume less wattage, if power prices go up, your saving percentage increases as with every power rise in the future.
We need a guru to create a difinitive thread to help new comers to LED navigate the pitfalls with unbias information. Might save somebody some money and disappointing grows.

It does. That's beyond question as many growers here can personally attest. You may not care to pay the price or make the jump but, doesn't negate the success we've seen here with our own eyes.

I was speaking more specifically about the kessil.
I know LED growlights work, i own 5 HGL lights :tiphat:
