Calling all keif masters

lol, no, good question. the americas, canada, more places (that I don't really know about) don't use this term. I'll let one of these guy across the pond explain what charas means to them.

No question that it all sticks together in my 12,000 psi press.....,At 12,000 psi, I can compress ground fan leaves into a particle board puck.

that's it! now I know. Gray Wolf is definitely from the Kif mountains in Morocco. lol

Please explain to me the question of terminology, the word "Charas" here,
does it mean that the product is extracted by hand friction or "charas" has another meaning?
IMO Its structure looks like a hash of dry sieving.

Charas is the word used for hand-rubbed hash in the Himalayas & most of indian sub-continent, BUT it is also the name of cannabis plant in parts of Afghanistan (chars).

About the charas pics I've posted above... In Afghanistan/Pakistan, they use dry sieving and the end product (loosely pressed resin) is called gardah (means "dust"). After the pressing/cooking process the resulting dark and gooey material is called charas.

Bumping / quoting pics

On my last gram of GDP! Nooooooooooooooooo! :tiphat:

I recently bought a bubblebox because I love the look, and I feel it's an easy way to get good hash. I tried it for the first time this week using 3 month old cured Rocklock. ( Not too crystally)
I ran the bud through a quick two piece grinder then sifted it outside in 10 degree F weather. I got some extremely blonde looking hash, that absolutely blew me away, but it ended up tasting like saw dust, while the bud just reeked of fuel. Do cured buds still produce great taste when dry sifted? What am I missing? My WW water bubblehash is WAY less potent but tastes divine.

I had the same issue with the sawdust taste, I assume it has something to do with the bubblebox itself, good questions

That sounds nasty It must be the box did you clean it before using it...

Curing the weed only improves the taste and makes the smoke more smooth

I've got a Bubblebox and this is the first I've heard about a "sawdust taste".....but maybe there was some fine dust that wasn't removed prior to packing the product at the factory?

My only suggestion would be to clean the interior of the box, which is what should be done with any item you buy...use compressed air if you have it or simply wipe the interior surfaces with a dry/damp clean cloth, dry enough so it doesn't leave a wet mark and then you should be good to go. The meshes can be cleaned with compressed air or gently slammed down a few times on a flat surface.

.....arrrggghhh...all this talk about making blonde resin is hurting, as I don't have a speck in the house.

Damm Champa, wtf. no smoke, you are welcome here.

i will agree with you, cleaness is important in drysifting.

Also fore legal reasons i dismount my tumbler box what ever i use so its just the material
and clean it down good.

Outdoor material will always be more dirty than indoor and will contain more dust and the dust is smaller than the trichromes, i use silk to remove that zero zero style.

I did clean my box out, I wouldnt smoke saw dust, the box still smells like fresh wood though, maybe if I just leave it open for a few days.

I didnt use compressed air though, thats a great idea thanks.

I also read that what collects on the bottom plate is generally stalks and smaller plant material that fell through, and your supposed to smoke whats left on the 70 lpi screen.

Anyone smoke the stuff on the very bottom? Or just cook with it?

As for no smoke, sorry to hear that, I hate when I used to run out, now I havent in about a year, Ive had good luck indeed. Every few weeks I end up goin to visit my bro who runs out often hehe, always down to smoke out a fellow patient.

DK, thanks for the offer, I'll be there in 5 mins ;)

the only good thing about not having anything to puff on is that when there is some around, due to a low tolerance, the effects are amplified and I really appreciate it.

with most strains harvested when mature, the stuff that collects on the black plate contains mostly broken up plant matter, dust, stalks and some small sized resin heads, usually a small percentage.

But with some strains though, especially if picked a little early, there are quite a number of tiny "sparkling diamonds" in with the powder, and this can be smoked, but the buzz will be 3 ~ 5 times weaker than the resin that collects on the 70 micron screen...if you have a lot of this you can clean it up with Bubble bags, cook with it as you mentioned, dissolve it in butane or alcohol, or smoke it joints...or give it to your bro!

When dry sifting bud I use a two piece grinder for small amounts too, hand crushing for larger amounts.....

For leaf only trimmings, I very lightly move the leaves over the screen, usually with the barest touch of my finger tips, as leaf disintegrates quickly and will pass through your meshes and contaminate...keep in mind that it's easier to not allow the bits of leaf to get mixed in with the resin rather than try to remove it later on .

but whatever you do, if quality is your aim and you are dry sifting bud, give the buds a fine manicure first and break it up into numerous "budettes", then remove as much stem and leaf as possible, do this (and anytime you are handling dry plants), over the screen to ensure end up with more of the best trichomes.

another technique you could use is to remove individual calyxes one by one from the bud and dry sift these. you can use a very thin blade to knock them off, pre-freeze the buds and work over the mesh when ..this technique takes a bit longer, but the end result is excellent.

Thanks for the tips Chamba. It's odd finding that the tiniest details seem to make such huge differences. Makes it more difficult to discover the problem.

:tiphat: I like that suggestion, I'm going to give that a try myself.
