Relief of Anxiety and Depression

OK so i usually believe the stuff people say on cannabis forums rather than other forums because people on here have the balls to talk about the truth and not twist it and generally fuck around...

I do need to get off the lexapro its doing me no favours. i can't even hold down a job at the moment because of sleeping during the day and sitting up all night. being alone all night is making me over think things again which was a fundamental factor in my anxiety/depression...

I'm going to have a look see if those 3 suppliments are affordable (i get my lexapro for free!!!! :chin:)

I'm new to this self medicating stuff it was only a year ago i even admited i was depressed after i started going grey loooool

you can do it, just dont give up hope after dropping the SSRI's.

Also in the near future i think any of us could benefit from not only drinking green tea but this kind of green tea... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gyokuro

I find it very interesting about this tea plant that is shaded from the sun for 2weeks before harvest and it has higher levels of L-theanine and caffeine.:chin:

thanks for posting all that info turbolaser, i will check out these natural options. I have been well on my to living a more normal life the last 4 years without SSRI's and im sure these will help more along with the herb.

watch out for most green tea, ive heard from a good source its drowned in pesticide (arsenic)

you really should look deeply into anything prescribed by a doctor, ive found most of the time they really havent got a clue how to help people... remember medicine is the biggest business on the planet, they make there fortunes off you being sick and staying sick, not curing you.... most doctors really want to help but still be careful, be your own champion, not somebody elses business plan.

Harold after reading your post I researched for info on this. I drink green tea, sometimes daily, and have had no ill effects from it. Who knows if this is a issue like wine is bad for you, wine is good for you, so on and so on.
It seems that most of the problem you speak of is not with all green tea, but only that from China, the led paint exporters. So that could easily be aliviated by getting tea grown and processed elsewhere. DD

Hi doobie, to be safe pay that bit extra for the better quality stuff (which im sure you do). Ill have a look for the article.... pesticide is bad full stop. About wine, alcohol is highly toxic we all know that, the other aflatoxins that form around the fermenting grape are highly cancerogenic, especially to the liver. I really think wine has no health benefits, but it wont stop me from drinking it or a nice beer :)

All the green tea from teavana is certified european union organic or whatever they call it now, a little more expensive than some other places but highest quality imo :canabis:

Hey guys,

For the L-Theanine, make sure you get the Sunthean brand that's certified from Japan. The other ones may just be green tea extract, Sunthean I've read is pure L-Theanine, no bs.

For Picamilon, I've read relentlessimprovmentsdotcome is a true source for quality.

And 5-htp I just get at CVS or GNC. Try to get the just the 5-htp by itself, not with b6 in it because that will convert it to serontonin before it gets to the brain.

The body needs b6 to effectively utilize the 5-htp, just don't take em at the same time (from what I've read).

Drank some more green tea last night, definitely calms me, I can't wait for the strait L-theanine !!!

Also, Phenibut acts on the GABAb receptors and is said to be very strong, like a weak version of GHB at high doses. Tolerance builds quick with this and taking too much will have you hungover as fuck, so be cautious.

Lastly, SWIM ordered some Kratom powder, which 0pium addicts use to help with withdrawals in Thailand, because it hits the same opiate receptors in the body, but is not addictive. Use with caution, I hear smokin' a bowl with this = heaven.

That's all I can think of for now, exercise, positive thinking, fruits and veggies, fish oil, and lots of good water yes I agree.

:)

Y'all know any others ? Maybe some piracetam for enhanced brain cognition ?! lol

strongly advise some good hash oil

Good call, I get super anxious and speedy when I intake concentrated doses of thc, maybe I'm ingesting the wrong Cannabinoid profile !?

Now if I could just get my hands on some Sweet Tooth seeds....I'M SO EXCITED !

i've read that shrooms can help decrease anxiety and depression symptoms but have no personal experience

I dont know about that...

I dont know about that...

If your really depressed, any kind of psychedelic will most likely lead to a bad trip...unless you have a good tripping companion to keep you straight.

That said, I dont trip very often these days, but I do find I need it every couple years...kind of sets you straight, and levels the path for a time.

Cannabis, love, and as much vigorous exercise has been the cure for the blues that I often experience.

Attention those who currently take or were on SSRI/SNRI:

Specifically What negative effects did you guys experience from your SSRI, how long were you on them, what did you do to get off etc?

Its a relief to see others speaking up on their SSRI experiences and getting info out on 5-HT.
I've been stuck on effexor/venlafaxin for 4 years now. No straight answers from any MD, all I experience encounter is anti-cannabis & pro big pharma stances so no luck so far finding a doctor who can tell whats going on involving cannabis and the SSRI/SNRI class.. I've had a doctor even ignore and dismiss the issue when I told them I was experiencing the most serious side effects, ones listed under the pharma company "IMPORTANT WARNING" where you are instructed to contact doctor immediately. I've experienced every side effect EXCEPT FOR rash/hives/bruising...that makes an extensive list, including sexual dysfunction that was never a fucking issue before effexor.
When stopping smoking ( 3 days for example) I experience severe depression for a while, nothing like the avg person. Thereafter the bouts of depression and anxiety come and go, mostly at night.
Whats disturbing me is I haven't been able to stop taking effexor/venlafaxin after several attempts at cessation. Every time I've gotten down to minimal dose I got prescribed an increase again. When I do stop taking it completely I experience the shocks, feels like I touch an electric fence but concentrated in the brain, like my brain is scrambling eggs. The unbearable point of effexor withdrawal for me actually feels like I am going to die and I have difficulty breathing/shortness of breath, indescribable depression/pain and fear. From experience effexor doesnt seem worth the trouble it causes, so seems the trend with many other people and SSRIs. Same for benzos, wow those are horrible (already got off them after a year of use, way easier than effexor for me). Please share your experiences with the class of drugs!

Tried lexapro, effexor, cymbalta, paxil. Short term memory what...I cant remember the other ones right now. haha. Only one I tried for more than 2-7 days is lexapro. I think these doctors should have to TAKE the medications themselves to understand what it feels like.

For me, lexapro(once 14 months consistent. twice for weeks at a time off/on) made my cannabis usage skyrocket. I could 'never' reach the point of 'stoned'. It was always just barely "maintaining", barely keeping the anxiety/nausea at bay. Now that I stopped the lexapro my cannabis consumption has dropped and I feel MUCH better. Sure, for the first few months it seemed to provide 'help'. But I never plan on taking any ever again. The negatives far outweigh the positives. Lots of sunshine and vigorous exercise(real exercise, outside!), changing my diet and keeping a streamlined daily schedule(which must include of course, personal time for reflection) have made all the difference.

demasoni, that 'brain scramble electric shock' feeling does go away, but I have heard that effexor can be VERY dangerous to quit cold turkey. If they must put you on something like this, I would suggest asking about lexapro - its the most mild out of all I have tried. Also, I know a girl who used to(over a year straight) crack the effexor open, crush the balls and snort it. She seemed pretty cranked to say the least.

Cymbalta was a living(although unconscious) hell which left me paranoid and shaky for WEEKS after only 3 days of use.

Natural supplements, diet change, sunshine, exercise, Love. :)
Lecithin is a nice supplement. Goes something like, THC reduces acetylcholine concentration - lecithin increases and helps maintain a higher acetylcholine concentration. I personally do not take regularly, but only on the few days every couple of months I will not eat/smoke and do a cleanse/flush.

Salba(chia), nigella and turmeric are very, very nice together in kicking the nasties out of your body as well as providing a strong clean healthy energy kick, nutrition, omega-3's and helps defend against dehydration. If you chase that down with a strong cup of matcha or some other green tea you'll feel like a champion ready to till the whole block for a 'neighborhood of green'.

I take trazodone primarily as a sleep aid but I feel like it has no unpleasant side effects to the residual antidepressant properties it has, especially compared to every ineffectual or counterproductive pharmaceutical I've tried before. I'd rather find myself the sleepiest possible weed, though, and grow that as a sleep med instead.

Wow, yes, these pharma meds are no fucking joke !

2 many harmful side effects, ineffective, expensive.

You guys should check out amino acid therapy, you get your blood tested to see which neurotransmitters you are low in (Dopamine, Serotonin, GABA, Adrenaline, etc..) and then you take the natural amino acids that replenish and raise these feel good chemicals in the brain.

It's natural, it works, no side effects, cheap, and I want to go get myself tested pretty soon.

In the meantime, we can use natural homeopathic remedies to raise our GABA, Serotonin, and Dopamine levels.

Any info on this is greatly appreciated !!!

For GABA, picamilon is good, so is l-theanine.

For Serotonin, L-Tryptophan or 5-HTP

For Dopamine, Tyrosine, Gluatamine, D-Phenlyalanine.
http://www.integrativepsychiatry.net/dopamine.html

There are already companies manufacturing supplements who claim all these things and whose natural ingredients contain a combination of the above mentioned remedies.

Lets make a list !!!

I hear ya mayne, try growing out some Indica Dominant euphoric strains. Blueberry is notably good for lifting the spirits, and an anxiety eliminating high. (Sweet Tooth is BB x GF I believe)

Blubonic by Spice Of Life is a blueberry indica cross, apparently its a strong body stone that relaxes you.

Also, Schnazzleberry by Chimera is very similar and got great reviews.

I know we can find some excellent remedies for raising these vital neurotransmitter levels in the brain.

Here's a good basic article on it;

http://www.jigsawhealth.com/resources/amino-acid-therapy

And an even better one !

"What is Neurotransmitter Deficiency Disorder and how can it cause depression, anxiety, and many other common conditions? By William Nelson, NMD Neurotransmitters (NTs) are essential chemical messengers that regulate brain, muscle, nerve and organ function. The most common NTs are serotonin, dopamine, norepinephrine, and epinephrine...."

http://www.naturalhealthweb.com/articles/Nelson4.html

Finally, the article mentions this:

"Q. What amino acids are used in this therapy?

A. The amino acids used depend on the unique situation. The therapy will include any number of the following: 5HTP, tyrosine, phenylalanine, cysteine, mucuna (herbal L-Dopa), theanine, glutamine, taurine, methionine, GABA, phosphorylated b vitamins, minerals, and anti-oxidants. "

The emboldened items are exactly the ones that I have been researching over the past few months. I am currently taking Suntheanean brand L-theanine, 5-HTP from local pharmacy, and Picamilon (Gaba increasing supplement)

I believe taking amino acids to increase each of the four feel good neurotransmitters will produce significant benefits. (Serotonin, Dopamine, Epinephrine, Norepinephrine)

WE CAN DO IT ! haha :)

Apparently DL-Phenylalanine (yep, its in coca-cola to take the edge off the caffeine. Same thing with L-Taurine in Red Bull) has been proven to slightly raise HGH levels. So besides feeling better, having more energy, more drive, less anxiety, you will also get leaner and stronger due to the increase in Human Growth Hormone Levels.

These are the side effects, Zoloft + Benzo's turned me into a zombie, I never wanted to go to the gym, or go to work. Hmm.....

DL-Phenylalanine is an amino acid, its safe, and its effective at crossing the blood brain barrier to elevate dopamine levels naturally, which in turn elevates nor-epinephrine and epinephrine levels.

Lastly, make sure to consume enough protein to keep your amino acid levels high enough so your brain can replenish the vital neurotransmitter levels. I'm going to order some slow digesting Casein protein and DL-Phenylalanine in a few, I must find a reliable brand and experiment !

Valerian is high in GABA-A

I can not take anything that hammers the GABA receptors(other than booze). It makes me very moody and aggressive.

There are some nice plants out there for this.

Mulungu(especially the 90% extract. look it up, very cheap) is very nice for anxiety relief and its the closest thing to a 'benzo' I have tried in natural form that works without the shit side effects. Mulungu 90%. Excellent.

Albizia julibrissin(Silk Mimosa tree. all over usa) is nice for anxiety also. And has no strong psychoactive effects otherwise.

Some folks swear by Kanna(Sceletium tortuosum), its a natural SSRI although never did much for me.

Salvia miltiorrhiza also. And of course Magnolia's. Which are in just about every parking lot in USA it seems. LOTS of medicinal uses with that one, try HONOKIOL. Its extracted from Magnolia grandifloris and is quite nice. I would say 2nd closest natural feel to the evil synthetic benzo's.

See also: Withania somnifera, Rhodiola rosea, cacao 25x(specifically 25x) is a GREAT pick me up coffee replacement and has wonderful social lubricant qualities.
