Never have I claimed to be smart, but I know in my heart something is wrong with the gov.

Yes, special interest eventually becomes the enemy of democracy. We as individuals are all special interests. But we allowed big money to systematically corrupt the system. Big money gets their vote as individuals in addition to buying their own, corporate interests.

It's not government that's whacked, poor legislation can be rectified. It's that (some) of our legislators inevitably become corrupted by big money. When big money corrupts enough aspects of the system, the jobs of the moral and ethical are compromised.

It's not hate, it's humor. I made no reference to the incendiary language she defends.

Now that's hate. Thanks for demonstrating the difference, sog. You don't know who I voted for, you don't even know whether I voted at all.

The 37th best health care in the world? The one that charges us 1/6th GDP and growing? The only industry that enjoys ZERO US regulations? The industry that's so corrupt that all 50 states regulate the products they can sell, rendering them impotent to sell across state lines? The same industry that charges 12% administrative costs compared to 4% for Medicare and VA?

The same folks that demand that government keep their hands of Medicare wouldn't have Medicare w/o government negotiating pricing. Price negotiations would have been the same with the public option. With the PO, you could still buy the private crap if you wanted to pay through the ass. Or, you could buy the sister to Medicare or similar to what our veterans enjoy. Take a look at the polls, veterans aren't all liberal and they aren't liars.

The only thing destroyed here is your knee-jerk opinion, sog.

the V.A. is a bad example...
i may be a bit biased because the V.A. killed my dad though...
i witnessed first hand bureaucrats hindering doctors leading to dead vets.

I'm very sorry to learn about your dad, dagnabit. I only hope a better system will at least reduce red tape.

TBO, private health care and private insurance involve bureaucracy too. Private insurance and heath care play the market and profit determines outcome.

So, just where are all of these marijuana related questions? Before giving me an answer check it yourself. I only see three--2 of which were deemed 'inappropriate' and removed.

I think the VA is a great example of how bad government health care can be. They've screwed me over and know numerous veterans complain about the treatment they get. They tend to carry their own health insurance if they're able and avoid the VA hospitals if at all possible.

Anyone who gets elected to public office in the US (and probably the world) is a "lying bag of shit."

I'm stunned that all political conversations involving MJ do't stop as soon as something like this is posted. After a person realizes this, it is simply rubbernecking at accident victems on the freeway...

I hope they don't try to delete all the MJ ones! Either way, click on "sort by popularity" and you will find that the top 50-100 are about mj. I think that is about how far I got. Make sure we all hit the leap video... Youtube wants video submissions and LEAP carries a lot of weight with the older generations who need to start wrapping their heads around this. I would love to see that video put in front of the Pres... no more excuses for potheads all over the internet.

Well, when you and yours want something that as many people or more don't, it's called democracy.

I didn't suggest this in dag's thread because his dad died. IMO, we'll have disparity in the best-case system.

My pops has his own private health care through retirement. He can seek either for a reasonable fee. But VA checkups are more comprehensive (I know this) and co-pays are cheaper. Specialists are in the same building and are often seen w/o referral delays.

I don't doubt you've had bad experience, voidling. With 310 million to care for, it's not anomaly to experience poor care system-wide. But our system can be improved and we shouldn't allow perfect to be the enemy of good.

I'd bet any amount of money he will avoid the question or laugh it off again. An if he does it equalls him spitting and kicking dirt in the face of every ICmag member here. But what consequences will he face, what will all us members get together and do about it? Not a god damn thing, except maybe start a thread an bicker about it. No government officials will ever change unless some are held accountable, but its almost impossible for us to hold them accountable unless we wanna be labled a "domestic terrorist" an end up at gitmo for who knows how many years without even having a trial or being convicted guilty. Freakin patriot act.

Ok rants over.

not my thread and im a thick skinned 'ol goat.

the V.A. is great for checkups and maintenance but for catastrophic care private hospitals(with no insurance)are still better.
again my opinion is skewed by personal experience and is (not gonna date myself;) ) a lot of years old.

I think you make good points. Experience beats opinion alone. I guess I should include a thank you for your military service.

...it knocks me to my knees for the kill shot when alcohol prohibition was so quick to fall in comparision. It even provides a great model to follow for legalization.

If we were seeing the same level of violence that alcohol prohibition created, I can guarantee you that the illegality of mj wouldn't have lasted as long as it has.

If you look into it, gangsters/mobsters of the alcohol prohibition era would kill police officers, burn down police stations and there was alot of violence in the street with rival gangsters and bootleggers.

I hate to say unfortunatly in a case like this, but with marijuana it has hardly created any real problems for police officers or drug enforcement agents. They can raid some of the largest growers and dealers in the country and not need to worry a bit about reprecussions or any deaths occured in a raid.

If we saw the same amount of bloodshed that has been occuring in mexico, you know this would have been legalized decades ago...

What is that old saying...? The tree of liberty must be nourished with the blood of patriots from time to time...

lol, i didn't think there was anyone left who still believed this guy was qualified to be president of even the Chicago City Council, ...or that he had any more integrity than Joe Kennedy Sr., ...or Al Capone for that matter.

i guess the hopey changey folks didn't get quite what they bargained for, ...now we all live with an empty suit in the White House.

if you think he'll do anything at all for mmj then i have some very cheap beach-front property for you in Arizona!

SOG

ill take obama and his "hopey changey" over anything that the crypt keeper and his winch would have brought to the table. and as someone who is highly involved in mmj, its not what obama has done for us so much as what he hasnt done... i.e. sweeping raids every 6 months...

and as far as qualified, jesus christ look who was in there before him... dubya wasnt even suited to run the fryer at mcdonalds much less the greatest country in the world...

and im not some huge demo liberal republican hater, i just look at who will fuck me over the least and so far its been obama and i dont see any republicans besides that ex-governor from new mexico on the red side that will do anything besides put our balls on the chopping block.

i mean whos obama going to run against. romney? palin? huckabee? guiliani? i dont see one person running on the republican ticket i would ever want to see in power. they are all overly against mj and mmj alike....

obama is a smart mother fucker. and i doubt he will do anything to compromise a 2nd term in office. his approval rating is gradually rising and if he can keep it up for two more years i think he will prove cheney wrong when he called him a 1-termer.

and if obama DOES get elected to a 2nd term i think we will all see mj reform federally. because at that point he has nothing to lose. it will be like our governor who vetod every mj bill that came before him until his last month in office when he lowered mj possession from misdemanor to infraction...

anyways. just my .02 cents. maybe one day we can get rid of this bullshit party system and make candidates run on ideals and practices rather then the blue or red bandwagon that has continued to fail us time and time again...

There are most certainly differences between the right and left... until you get to the bottom line.

Anyway I'm sure he will laugh it off again.

What are you going to do about it?

I made it to the crypt keeper and spewed tea on my screen. The rest is pretty good too.
