those of you who use the lucas formula in hydro do you use anything besides flora micro and bloom?

besides the obvious ones like calmag (if you use ro) and aquashield/florashield

how about a humic acid like diamond nectar?

any bloom boosters?

if you use additives explain why and when

thanks~

Silica Blast is a nice additive to use with Lucas.

You will notice thicker stems that stand up on their own better. Also the leaf will not be so flat. They will take on a more textured look.

Its supposed to help with heat stress and disease prevention by strengthening the plants vascular system and cell walls.

I use it all the time @ 5ml per gallon

i completely agree. i run heads formula(almost like lucas) and the only additive i use is silica......

just watch out how much you use in flowering. silica loves to lock out phosphorus. i use at half strength, every other res change....

Is that because it has the tendency to raise ph in the solution/media making P unavailable, or is there some other reason silica locks it out?

I have used Kool Bloom Powder with Heads formula(close to lucas) as a starting point (adjust nutes/water on PH moves).

Trying not to assume too much but, my interesting results with various amounts of KB and PPM.

Exactly same genetics, same light, simular conditions below are differences in treatment during runs.

1st run: high PPM (drank water vs nutes) with lots of KB .5-.75 tsp per 1.5 gallons. PPM hit 2000
Result: hard dense nugs. lots of tris thought that was ideal! Nice and dark color (cure jar burp) Flushed water only until ppm hit 100

2nd run: lower PPM (drank water so gave more water) ppm 1200 less KB .5 ever other res change. (cure: freezer) Flushed with clearex and then water
Result: fluffy, more crystal covered, better taste, light green color much better IMHO

Theory: Overfeed nutes = more Bio mass but dense nugs everyone loves
Feed just enough the plant = less Bio mass and more light pentration INTO the buds. = more tris.

Yeild= didnt see much difference in yeild, actually got more in second run cause plants were a little taller. no popcorn on 1st run. 2nd had lots of popcorn

Really interested if anyone else has experienced this!

Think silica is good idea. Plants needed a lot of support!

I've been meaning to write a post containing a list of additives that actually work based on the community's experience. Most of the commercial stuff is based on pseudo science but I do believe there are benefits to using some stuff.

Kelp Extract (cold pressed + chemically extracted, together)
Fulvic/Humic acids
Beneficial microbes
Silica
Molasses and other sugars
and a few others. All the commercial stuff is a mish mash of these things, especially most of the stuff in seaweed/kelp extract.

I personally use MaxiGrow + MaxiBloom + Floralicious+ (I used FP+ with lucas as well.)

I personally use some superthrive and I use some molasses in the last few weeks of flowering. I've tried a lot of fancy additives but by and large have been underwhelmed with the results. Huge fan of the lucas formula in a DWC though, you can't go wrong. :D
