Pot size for 20 clones mother

So i got my grow closet up and runing but im missing something that i only notice now, what would be the pot size to take 20 clones? I usually take small clones. Any rule of thumb?

OBS: My veg grow is a micro one :D

20 clones per week? I run tiny little mommas, like 1-2 cups of soil, and I can take 3 or so a week from each and more if I feed heavy. I throw lots of cuts in the trim bag because I am constantly fighting to keep my moms small and only need a few per week. I would think a 6" round pot would be plenty if you keep her good and healthy. Even if you are only running 1 strain, you can keep a few moms of her in smaller pots if that works out better for you. I have a tiny veg cab too and I don't put big pots in there for space reasons. I keep 6 moms (+room for 1 more) in a cut down Hiko tray that is about 4" tall with 2 1/2" round cells.

yeah, Someone just told me that was not the right method, i just have to cut clones from clones :D

btw, im looking for a link that explained with an image how to take the most out of the clones like cutting all the buds except the main one (or something like that) but i cant seem to find it...

Some people continually clone their plants in veg and never keep an actual mother. I am set up for 7 moms so that I can have variety. One of them I only run once or twice a month and some I have 6 or 8 going at all times. If I was just running 1 strain I would probably just clone my plants in veg as well.

The growing technique you are describing is called "Lollypopping" (sp?), and some use it and some don't. In my system I find that I get my best harvests by not cutting anything off the plants once they hit the the flower cab. I suppose if someone only wanted larger buds that is a good method, and some do claim it increases overall harvest weight, but I have not found that to be true personally.

thanks man i think it is that method, wont it give me more space for a sog? having clones building up only one main bud.

Hey Terra. I keep my pots shoulder to shoulder either way. If a plant get unruly I will try to tuck fan leaves and whatnot under other bud sights. If fan leaves go into the lights I cut them in half so they don't fry up.

I run perpetual so that I don't have every plant trying to fill the cabinet all at the same time. I also stagger my lights so that the left side is about 4" higher than the right then I start new ones on the right and usually have them propped up toward the lights for the first few weeks anyways. When one gets near finishing, I put it in the center of the cab so it gets overhead light from the left, and side lighting from the lowered lights on the right.

The way I run it is best to keep the plants unstressed and filled in but ymmv. I am now using "mini treepot mt38's" for pots and when I've fully switched over to them I can stuff 2 dozen into my 14"x19" footprint cabinet. I am in the process of switching over from coffee bags and now it sometimes gets unruly and sometimes it is like a jigsaw puzzle getting them in the right spots. It works best for me running single cola plants but not doing any sort of defoliating or major pruning after they hit 12/12. the treepots are an attempt to get some order in the flower cabinet. Here is a shot of some Apollo 11's I took for another thread to show you how they look unmolested. The two on the outsides were both bushed out before going into flower by pruning. This strain by the way is my weak link from the standpoint of production, but I love the smoke.

My pots are currently bottles (dont have that much $$ and garden items are kinda hard to find in here), thats what im trying to do a perpetual sog, i want to fit as much plants as i can in the closet to take the most out of it, what can i say i have too many friends that smoke but none grows :p
here, my clones have been currently dying (low temps) so this is what i have so far.

That doesn't look so bad, but you gotta get that sucker filled! Search IC for the "walmart cloner" thread and try that if you are having problems with cloning. that is the method I use and it works wonderfully. I almost never loose a clone. I don't use the actual same device they use but the concept works with any tube, and mine are clear so that I can see when the roots are developing.

The MT38 pots I am using are super cheap at Stuewe and Sons online. I bought 50 pots plus 2 trays that hold 20 each for about $22 shipped. I think the pots are $.16 each. Before you go out buying pots though it is a good idea to get your mojo working and see what volumes and heights work best for you.

yeah, i have something similiar to that walmart cloner i filled a plastic box with vermiculite (with holes ofc) cut the bottom of plastic cups and with that i made the "walls" so roots wont mix with the other clones. got 1 clone out of 4 (first time) so far, but i was out for almost a week so low temp+low water=3 dead :D Ill put more clones tomorrow and wait :)

Thank you very much for your help :)

Ha! Waiting sucks!!! I have a 2 level m/v/cl cab, and my lower lights are attached to a cut piece of floor tile. The 2nd level shelf is L- shaped about 2" over the tile, and makes for a recess that my cloner res sits in. The tile and res help cool the lower lights and the tile and bulbs heat the res. It can get a little tricky adjusting temps but I have found that 80-90 works just fine. Also, even though the original design doesn't use any sort of humidity dome, I have found this method stuggles in the wintertime for me. My indoor humidity is about 19% when my house humidifier isn't running. With it running I am around 40%. Summer time it is not a problem at all. The humidity gave me problems with the cloner last year and I forgot to get my humidifier going early this winter. Once I did, my cloning times cam back into their normal range. If you are at a low humidity level, I would try a dome unless you can raise your ambient humidity like I did.
