How can I find my new roommate safley?

Okay, let's be honest. I can't do this 100% safely. I know that. I'm just hoping somebody here may have some suggestions to help me out, or some better advice than what I'm thinking.

Currently, I live in a lovely 5 bedroom home with just one roommate. My neighbor on one side is a 80 year old lady who always brings me cookies, and the other guy is a patient himself who never really draws attention. It's quiet, and nice. The city is close, the hydro store is close and best of all, A SHIT TON OF GROW/BREED SPACE.

I've known my current roommate almost 10 years. He's one of my patients, but he has decided to move back in with his mom because he has this deluded thought that he can avoid any form of debt his entire life. Anyway...... like the title says, I have no clue how to find a new roommate for this house. I can't afford it on my own and I'll never get this amount of space this cheap again. It's not like I can go to Craigslist, and being the grower I am, I tend to live a fairly solitary life. I want more friends, but I don't get out nearly enough.

So what are my best options here? Any thoughts? I don't have to move for about 4 months. Also, maybe this sounds dumb, but has anyplace like IC ever thought about forming a space to facilitate growers finding roommates who also grow in the legal states? I only want a grower/patient as a roommate. Just a thought.

I'm sorry if this is in the wrong spot. I didn't know where else to put it.

If you want a room mate that you don't have to worry about screwing you over, go to the Humane Society, and find one with four legs and a tail.

Good Luck!

I guess I should also say that I figure since I have the time, if I find some candidates soon enough, I can hang out with them for a while before I have to actually bring them to the house. My thought is that if it is another grower they will be less likely to steal from me. Less likely, not won't. I know there is risk.

hey, those four-legged folk with tails shit on the carpet.

blow up dolls = no shit

+ you can do whatever you want with them!

honestly, to be a little more serious about this question:

you're setting yourself up for big disappointment. even having someone you know for a long time is a big risk.

these "people" you're planning to share space with will always have something to hang over your head as a threat if you ever have problems.

better to just downsize your living situation if you can't afford it rather than compromise security with an unknown.

hanging out with potentials in advance just isn't an option. everybody is going to be on their best behavior at first.

its 6 months in when people start behaving like themselves

do you have to get a roommate to afford the place? seems to me your best bet is to find a way to keep the place to yourself

Whats more, unless you're a narc yourself, you just ratted out your "neighbor grower" to anybody who may care to contact you for a meeting. You realize that, right?

Not very bright at all.

Yea put up 2 or 3 more lights in your ex roommates room so you can pump out some extra pounds and pay for everything yourself! It's not even like your elec bill will raise to much because you will be using a lot less power if its just you living in the house

lol, or get your neighbor to move in with you. seems you already know eachother's business well enough.

if you can get the 80 year old to move in too you won't have to worry about getting a pet either

I suppose I don't if I can find a way to cover the rest. I just don't want to commit to another year unless I know I won't be stressing the whole time.

How I "narced" him out or whatever is beyond me. Thanks for not helping.

I thought about that, but although he isn't close to as careful as I'd like.

I think deep down I know that I won't let a stranger come in here. Shit, I don't even really let people I know over. I may just have to come to terms with leaving.

The rent is currently $1350, and I pay over a grand of that a month already, which is more than I want to pay. I couldn't afford that and the rent. I grow legally, so I don't really want to start uping my numbers and grinding. That's not my intention.

I guess there's no good answer. I just hoped maybe there was something I hadn't thought of.

Hey man I'm in the same boat as you except I have my own apt. In my situation the landlord is losing the place to foreclosure though :/ I have such a good situation right now it just feels like nothing else will live up to it but I'm going to stay open minded and keep looking. Worse case scenario for both of us is we have to stop growing for a little while but it will be temp setback and things will bounce back. Good luck to you friend hopefully it will work out for the best

Usually you have to post some more details other than "my next door neighbor grows" to be considered "outing" somebody. You don't know this guy or where he is at so how is his neighbor's security compromised? Get your head out of your butt man it's an internet forum not the local newspaper lol

why not sell two zips to cover the lost roomate.
seriously a 2 light opp pays for a nice decent life and keeps you in meds all the time.
no roomate needed for me and in years. id rather risk adding a light then includung a stranger into my home. what do you think is safer. how much can your rent be? or do you own. if you own it then step the game up son what are you waiting for.

oops my bad i read the last couple posts...
13-1400 aint shit selling an oz to cover the extra expenses is not what id call grinding and you would not need more than a one gallon plant to make up for it. i would consider removing this thread. its is really rediculous to waste space on here with a no brainer like this.

i clicked the thread because the title sounded rediculous and after reading, my feelings are completely comfirmed. lol $300 lol

i hope you understand how really simple this problem of yours is to overcome without really putting yourself out financially or "grinding" out an oz lol

really noob? what if someone from here contacts him about this? i know we like to think everyone here is a good person but they arent. now, that person now has information about two grows

1350 rent is nothing

You will regret getting a new roommate

it's just not a wise or safe thing to do

If this user is smart They will not answer LEO's PM about renting their room to another UC LEO

if they do, then it is their fault they get busted.

FORGET THE ROOMMATE IDEA!
