Landrace from wisconsin....

Im wondering if any one would be interested in a landrace strain from wisconsin....when I was camping years ago, I came across what looked and smelled like skunky frosty plants as tall as 15 feet whith what looked like nugs the size of baseball bats, only to find out it was all elaf and seed, but SOOOOO crystally. so im wondering if it had been their soo long for so many generations if it turned into some GREAT CBD shit. Very plant was the same and It was fertalized and spread around by cows. It was the "dankest Hemp" ive every seen. It was not senssimmelia but like a cross it seemed like between hemp and chronic. I am really wanting to go back up their and get a shit load of seeds and take pics. im on the quest for CBD.

when i was their it was mid october they were seeded, super fucking cold, before the first frost type weather. a handful of plants were solid purple from the cold. the others were lime green and smelled like road kill skunk and loaded with trichs. thoudsands of plants scattered in manure and rotting logs in this shady tree like forest were the cows go in for shade.

during the second world war the us government subsidized midwestern farmers to grow hemp for the war effort. thousands of acres of hemp was grown. throughout the years those plants have survived on the edges of corn feilds and ditches. hence the frase ditch weed. the intersting thing about those genetics is that they have breed with other more potent and productive strains that were either grown by someone in the area or left over from someone's crop. after decades of this wild breeding you end up with plants that are perfect for the climate they grow in. sometimes these plants have very short flower periods, great mold resistance, and yeild very well. i have a friend who collected some pollen from a wild ditch weed plant here in michagan and crossed it with his favorite outdoor strain. the result was a plant that grew perfectly outdoor in our area. those genes can be really worth something in the right hands in the right area. cool find man.

well, remember this would be a "hemp" strain, or landrace.... The cows have fertalized it for generations and everything is genetically the same just about. all the plants look identical but it is like a cross between chronic and hemp to me.

i have a buddy who grows outdoors in southern illinois and he says it's bascally impossible to grow a seedless crop due to all the wild pollen floating around. theres a seriously great chance that wild pollen makes its way into the breeding of that patch every year. i'd bet that if you found more patches in the area the plants would look the same as the ones you found. there is a really good chance that strain has a very diverse thc and cbd make up.

no it's not

A landrace is a local variety of a domesticated animal or plant species which has developed largely by natural processes, by adaptation to the natural and cultural environment in which it lives. It differs from a formal breed which has been bred deliberately to conform to a particular standard type. Landraces are usually more genetically and physically diverse than formal breeds. Many formal breeds originated from landraces, and sometimes a particular type has both landrace and formal breed populations. Sometimes a formalised breed retains the "landrace" name, despite no longer being a true landrace.

Had a buddy once that drove up to Indiana and loaded up his pickup with wild cannabis. He had discovered it while driving for Hertz and decided it was worth his time to drive up one fall and cash in. Talk about ditch weed. Seedy as hell and pretty much useless to smoke. I think we got a buzz more from lack of oxygen than THC. The weed scene was pretty dry that year and he made a killing, even at $20 oz. Some people came back multiple times!

Not to say that what you found isn't worthy of smoking, but the stuff my buddy found was crap.

Only way to be sure is to harvest some and smoke test it. Good luck, you might have found a guerrilla growers dream

We have the same exact stuff, every single year I get some seeds in my clone onlys and my hybrids from local ditch weed pollination.

I have this stuff crossed with Bubba, OG, The White, Urkle, Cheese, Chocolate Thai, Abusive, Green Crack, just to name a few.

Do we even have landraces in the upper midwest? I know I have access to some land that it's possible no human has walked on during the last few hundred years, but does that mean I might find some sort of landrace? I doubt it. I would absolutely love to be wrong though. Perhaps next summer/fall I'll go for some hikes.

It's all hemp none of it will get you high, but yeah it grows wild and has grown wild for many many years. Think of the disease, pest, drought, ect, resisitance it has growing every single year all by itself.

It looks bomb as hell, frosty, stank, ect. If it can pass on those traits into the first generation I think you could make a mean outdoor cross for the north. I grew out 1 female of (Urkle x Bubba) x Ditchweed and it turned out great.

Interesting. Any tips in spotting something? Just look for the 5 leaves?

It looks just like a nice tall sativa with its thin leaves and growth patterns. You can't miss it. I grew up and lived in a farm in the Hawkeye state. Iowanna grew on all of our fencelines along with giant ragweed. We never could get rid of it. Tough stuff. Flowers early, too.

Interesting. I'll do a few nice hikes sometime in some out of the way places. I would be ecstatic if I did actually find something growing wild. Would have to take a few clones too. ;)

Hmm... I've been thinking about this and it sounds fun. I also have a German Shepherd who just LOVES mj plants. He goes gaga when he smells mine. I've trained him to find objects by name so I think I can train him to sniff out mj plants. Could be a very handy skill to have when looking for landraces.

Actually, they can be short and squat, they can be big and tall, they can have 3 finger leaves or 16 finger leaves. They can be green or they can be purple, they can have wispy buds or they can have dense nugs. They are wide open.

Check out this thread I did awhile back, mainly check out the video link I left after my first post, pretty interesting stuff.

Very interesting. I think there might be a lot of flavors out there in the feral hemp world that might be worth glancing at. If nothing else it gets us outside.
I never really thought about the Johnny AppleWeed aspect of this. I might have to start saving males and plant them outside to increase the quality of pollen in the air. If done for 10 years or so it might make a local difference.
