What to look for in a potential grow house?

When I was a lurker I remember coming across a similar thread with good ideas. Lost it/got deleted/I'm just retarded and can't find it, whatever.

Throw any random tips you care to share!

-electricity, electricity, electricity. Makes sure it's got lots!
- Neighbors; distance matters.

Low ppm water out of the tap (my personal dream)

Perimeter fencing (or physical barriers such as tall hedges) on all four sides with lockable gates. You don't want Johnny Law to be able to just walk up to your front door and knock, sniff, and look in the windows. Anyone comes over they have to call ahead otherwise they stand in the street outside your gate with their dick in their hand looking retarded.

Also, I would think an attic or a basement (if it's going to be a live and grow situation) would be ideal for keeping it on the down low when friends and family come over.

make sure you check out the breaker box. i dont know how big your trying to go but an old breaker box will mean you will need to do some serious upgrades before you can get started. you want to make sure that an electrician can easily pop in a subpanel if your gonna be running more then a few thousand watts.

more then a few growers have burned there house down because they overlook the importance of there electrical system.

I personally dont like security systems, or at least the ones that automatically call the cops when you accidentally set them off.

An absent landlord who lives in another state or very far away is always a bonus. It really sucks when you five weeks into flowering and you get a call from your landlord who wants to stop by to check on the house.

houses that come with landscapers or other regular maintenance people can also be a deal breaker. I have always tried to work in deals with the landlord to do basic maintenance myself, like lawn mowing, in exchange for a discount on the rent.

A MINIMUM of 200 amp electrical service, up to date wiring, you dont want a 100 year old house with knob and tube. Secluded area, or atleast not on a busy street, a good amount of frontage between the street and your front door, so if someone ever got pulled over or something in front of your house you can smell your garden at the street. I also like central air conditioning this can be a real game saver in the summer time. Also make sure you are no where near a school zone. Maybe also troll the neighborhood first and make sure you dont have any :angrymod: neighbors.

If you have to ask, you're not ready.

exactly. if your asking this for personal reasons and not just curious/wanting to start a thread then you are not ready. dont put yourself out there in this game. its easy to do and will bite you in the ass. good luck

If you have to ask, you're not ready.

Hows he gonna get ready? By asking his dog? He's asking the right people and getting shut down. That's not nice. Part of acquiring knowledge is sharing it.

Dude use the search feature. There are many threads on the subject.

Never let anyone convince you that you can't do something.

He's getting shut down because he needs to pull off some smaller grows first, before moving up to a house. By actually doing the smaller grows you learn what you'll need to do a larger one. If he was prepared, a more informed question might be "should I go with a house or a light-industrial unit?" You should already know what the electrical demands are going to be. You should know that a basement is ideal for maintaining a cool environment, but also makes you prone to mold... There is no replacement for experience.

When a grower has the experience, he will not ask strangers on the internet what he/she needs to look for. The grower will spend their time researching real estate in their area.

Bingo!!

If you have to ask, you're not ready.
What a douchey comment.

I'm not asking for a 101 tutorial on how to grow cannabis illegally, guy. I'm making a thread on a well-known pot site for a bunch of members to toss tricks they've learned over the years at each other. Everyone- even krunchbubble- still has things to learn about this game. I'm sure he'd cop to learning something new recently. There is much to learn on the internet from strangers.

Why the negative vibes? What is this place if not a source for people to share information and tips?

...Sometimes I think certain people fancy themselves some kind of outlaw, too-cool-for-school gangsta's, and that's why they're in this pot game to begin with. It's not even about the bud or the money for some. They just like to talk about the "game," how much they know, and how sly they are under the radar. Not mentioning any names...

no, I say that, b/c people shouldn't help someone who isn't ready. When you're ready, the questions are more specific. I explained that pretty clearly in my next post. I don't want you to rent a house, and try to pull off a large operation if you're not really ready. I've been wanting to do it for a long time... but I didn't ask anyone how I should go about doing it. First I learned to be an excellent grower. When you run a house, and things go wrong, they go wrong big time. RedSpaghetti just lost several trees in his 5k vert room. Luckily he was prepared for such a problem, and had plants to fill the space. It's not just a matter of the perfect location, but knowing what to do with it.

I'm ready. I have the plants. I have the finances. I didn't come here and ask, I got online and looked at real estate in my area. Industrial units, small businesses, houses... Then you have to research the area, make sure you're going to be safe...

I wish you the best of luck... but if you're not confident in yourself... Then you're destined for failure. Poke your head into the threads where the guys who are doing it big are succeeding. Learn from their mistakes. When you're ready, you'll just do it. You won't be here asking questions.

There wouldn't be any noob forums here if that were the case ,
you have to start somewhere ,by seeking out knowledge asking questions.Lots of the people on here do not have concrete knowledge about growing let alone life in general. Who are you to say he isn't ready?

its like asking "what do I need to know to rob a bank"

its dangerous, its illegal, and even if you do everything right you can get in big trouble, or worse.

its just not the best type of advice to be giving people.

you're better off taking a year or two to soak up "loss" stories rather than ask someone to give you pointers or a tutorial in how to potentially ruin your life.

now if you have a grow already going in a house and apt and need help getting the most out of it, then ask questions all day.
