150w HPS Club and Resource Guide......

bt,

Easiest - htgsupply.com - They have remote-ballast 150w HPS for ~$80. This price used to include shipping, might still. You'd have to assemble the cool tube but everything else is pretty much taken care of. Tell HTG you don't want a reflector, see if they'll reduce the price. If you need a reflector, a bat wing will incorporate with the tube easier than a hood.

Cheapest - or close to it for a new lamp. e-conolight.com has 150w HPS security lights for $52 shipped. You'd have to take it apart and extend two lamp wires the distance from remote ballast to lamp. Add a ground wire from metal x-former box to metal part of tube (or metal reflector) for safety.

cool tube - you'll have to get a globe and fashion some way of fastening the bulb and socket inside the tube. The grow room and designs thread has DIYs for fashioning a cool tube and also remote ballast.

You're welcome guys. Happy holidays everybody.:)

big twinn, ahsupply.com sells 22" reflectors separately. If you're running w/o reflectors, check em out. They're not that pricey and have good design.

I like the sound of your setup kolorblind!! I was just inquiring about bubblicious in another thread- I take it you are pleased? Got any flower pics?

Cheers!

Just smoked my first fully dried, 3 day cured bit of the bubbleicious last night. I had smoked on my Apollo11 stash pretty much all day (cold outside, off work and all) and was baked before smoking the bub. However, not more than 2 hits into the bowl, I was SIGNIFICANTLY more stoned. I had a nervous chill come over me kind of like "wait.....where am I again?....oh yeah!!" if ya know what I mean :)

As far as harvest pics, its funny you should mention it. I didnt take any pics of this run and wasnt going to take harvest pics but I just had to, they were beautiful. I chopped 4 alongside 5 Apollo11s and got just shy of an ounce off each plant, I can do better though I know. Technically not ONLY a 150w grow so I hope I dont offend anyone. I used 2 42w CFLs for rooting + 1 week of veg, then 34 days under a 150w HPS and then 29 days under a 250w HPS. 103g total off those 4. The little guys above are Apollo11 lower branches. Sorry for the blurry picture its the only one I took unfortunately :(

Can anyone send me links to where to purchase the best 150w HPS cool tubed...my box is 31in tall 22 inches wide and 20in deep...i will have a 55w Pll on each of the four wall sides...
i need recommendations and links where to buy:
best 150watt HPS for my dimensions
cooltube/aircooled system and fan recommendations and links...what ever will push through a carbon filter move a good bit of air and is Quiet!
thanks my cab looks like this as of right now=)

Here is how i set my minifridge up:

picture.php

Personally, I would advise against a filter after the fan. Yes, it will muffle the whooshing sound down to almost nothing and yes it provides much more space inside the cab. Unfortunatley, it is a royal BITCH trying to make sure evrery little tiny possibly hole it sealed between the fan & scrubber. If you dont have a scrubber with a large surface are like mine, the pressure will backup way too much and force stinky air out.

Even with my setup, it was never 100% efficient. It would be for a day or so, then start stinking. Id tape over a new hole and regain the effectiveness but only temporarily. If you can somehow use a solid tube or something that is less prone to air leaks than it would be the way to go. Otherwise try and figure out something where you pull through the scrubber otherwise you will always battle the stink and never truly have any stealth or security.

One idea I had of revamping mine (which is 31x18x17 by the way) was to mount the scrubber to the inside ceiling of the cab, and keep the fan on the back, then pull through the scrubber. I can almost guarantee you that you will not be able to cram a fan, scrubber AND decent yield into that small of a cab. There are a hundred ways to dampen the whooshing sound, and besides when I had people over I would just turn the fan off and cover the intake as long as they werent staying for more than 4-6 hours. The S&P fan I used with the scrubber as a muffler was about as loud as a computer fan running, maybe a bit quieter. But mine is an old junky minifridge, which by appearance looks like it should make noise so I was safe.

Best of luck whatever you decide, let me know if you need links for the fan or more detailed description! :)

DiscoBisquit: forgive me, but can you post a link to the digital 150w ballast you are refering to on htgsupply...i cant seem to find it...as well as the light assembly igniter etc...thanks!!

Kolorblind: wow that harvest looks killer! I hope i can do the same! do you think using pvc pipe and silicone sealant rather then dryer hosing would create a seal that it (it looks like it would sound like a fighter jet taking off...exposed and unmuffled like that)???...what fan would you recommend for my 150w hps set up with added 220w vertical pll?? Thanks! beautiful setup!

Nice buds, KB. Thanks for the tips.:)

Sorry big twinn, the remote htg isn't digital. If you're leaning digi, google "150 remote digital" without the quotes. BTW, I've heard 150 digis aren't tried and true like their larger counterparts. Something about rfi problems.:chin:

"light assembly ignitor" ? If you mean remote ballast tutorial:

I went to IC search, clicked on advanced search, typed "remote" without the quotes, selected the thread-title filter and clicked Search:

There are 31 threads with "remote" in the thread title. This is one of the better ones:

Good luck

Hey 150 watters. I'm wondering if a 350 CFM filter would work with a 165 CFM fan for scrubbing. Is there a hard and fast rule that pertains to how much filter you need for fan or vice versa? Any help pointing to links would be appreciated.

First off, sorry bout the double post! I was worried about it being to long then I made it 100% worse! Party foul I know, ;P

I thought of going that route and just never got the motivation. i think it would work beautifully if everything was sealed up 100% tight. The fan itself even without a muffler is by no means loud. As far as inline fans go, its practically silent. To cool the 150 plus 220w additional, you will need a 6" intake fan in my opinion, which would be extremely difficult to install in your cab.

Hell I use the fan in that picture to vent my 8' x 5' x 2' closet setup with a 150W HPS, 25wHPS and three 42w CFLs. Its really all about the space, and with that cramped space in your cab you will need mega ventilation to keep the temps optimal. Might as well use a 250HPS with a cool tube and drop the side lighting. One thing people forget is that light is radiant, a 150w HPS will penetrate most of your canopy with only about 16" of plant height. A 250 would be MORE than enough light for the whole cab. The side lighting may increase yield if it can be pulled off, but it may be costly (more expensive fan than with no side lights) and if it you cant keep heat under control it could decrease the yield!

Keep us up to date on what you decide though, would love to see if you can get it setup with the scrubber after the fan and have no smell leaks.

Nice buds, KB. Thanks for the tips.:)

Thanks man, they taste so damn good. Sweetest smoke ive ever had thats for sure!

Whats up to everyone here on tha IC, to all tha O.G'Z that have been cruisin around since overgrown. My hats of to you guys that have been around for the long hall. Im a New Booty here to this site and I think tha 150W CLUB is where the party is at..!!! Im now on my second grow from being devirginatized.. My grow area is pretty small but since the first grow im trying to max out the space I have to work wit.. I have a old entertainment bar via the 80'z that was gifted to me from a friend that moved up the coast and couldnt take everything.. When she asked me the first thing i thought was GROW CAB wit some tinkering... Dementions are 35Lx40Hx12D which is what I used my first grow as a whole cab. My second grow I rebuilt & now have a 20"Lx40"Hx12"D for my flower room wit a vert air cooled 150w hps cooltube. I also built in the space a drying room which is 5"Lx40"Hx12"D, my mom/veg room is 10"Lx30"Hx12"D with a utility room to complete the space. Im planning to do a SOG of 8 plants rotating in flower with 1gal smartpots i cut in half & sewed back into 2 pots. When I figure out how to post pics, I will give out the candy so please hit me up with help how to post pics. Im very impresed with the temps of each room 78.9 with 150w on, 75.8 in the mom room with 2 18in T5's, all with a passive intake system and a can fan pulling air out the utility room into a diy filter that I learned to build from you champs on this site.. Im not usualy the type to join a club, but I gotta get in on this and I hope tha posse excepts me with what I have to work wit. By the way, PIPEDREAM I luv that cab bro, propz !!! ONE LOVE....
