There is no shade from those trees. and the strain is resistant anyway. we had the worse summer on record - rained all August -- and what you see is what you get. that photo was taken Sept 1st at the 49th parallel.

Just goes to show you.... can't judge a location from a picture. Have to start reading whole thread before commenting. You must be up here with me! Those are amazing for this area!!
I grew some monsters outside this year but have moved entire med operation indoors & was about to give up outdoors because the flowers never developed, not much potency & horrible taste. The same did fine indoors. Was told it might be my well water (TDS & PH too high).
Any tips for next year?

Test the water with a TDS/PH combo such as BlueLab (best!).

The high TDS normally throws off the PH.

You can easily fix that by filling an empty rain barrel with your well water, test that water ad then adjust the PH.

With you seemingly being in OR your PH very likely is too high and the water being fairly hard so you will have to bring down your PH preferably with Phosphoric Acid
(HydroShop or online) which is part of Plant "food" anyway (Muriatic Acid works as well but I do not recommend it) and the good thing is you won't need much @ all so don't buy a Gallon of it or it will last you years! lol

the genetics have been developed over 20 years. I have brands with staggered harvests from Aug 20 to Sept 15, to Sept 30.

When would you put them in to get a late August crop? mid Sept? How old would they be then? Do you mind me asking?

you can start these anywhere between April1 and June 1 up here in the northern hemisphere. for a late Aug early Sept finish. a cold frame is advised in April though in case of late frost. Or at elevation before June.

Yeah, I think I started too late because I was still trying to let flowers mature into Oct. It was my first time with seeds in years & I did't germinate til mid-may. Couple weeks inside & into the ground!

You talked about how rainy Aug was... is your strain happy getting wet when buds are mature?

oh yes. I always breed for mold resistance, living on the South Coast as I do. That field of dreams shot was taken in a place that never rains, but this year had a freak late summer that rained 75% of the time. And they still prospered. I have always deselected the molders in the breeding process.

What does a high profile commercial breeder like me want in the search for the ultimate genetics? He wants early, big, tasty, sticky, mold resistant, and a great high. No easy task. But I am approaching that finally after 20 years. This is why I laugh when people say 10 bucks is expensive for an outdoor seed. Sure it is, if you are getting junk. Great mj genetics are so under valued. And i think this is because there is so much disappointing, diluted crap out there, that it drives the price down. Putting 2 things together and slapping a fancy name on it, then shoving it on the market with clever advertising ... does not breeding make. It's a pain staking, time honored, tedious process that can take years and years to get right. But when it is done correctly, money can be made.

Thats some solid insight on breeding Browndirt. We should not just take what has the fanciest name.
ps. Your videos are killer!

Hey BD! Can't wait for you to finally unleash some of those seeds I heard you talking bout in that UG interview. And BD's revenge is a new movie right? I will definately be picking up both of these offerings asap. Don't know if you remember I had problems with the DVD it wouldn't play on any of my players and you sent me another. I really appreciate it and felt bad that it worked on my bros dvd player NP. I owe you for that!

Will definately want some of these seeds when they become available... I gave $9.00/seed for the crap I grew outside this year (from Amstedam). Where will they be advertised? How does one get your video/Movie?

Thanks! Visited your site BD and read your bio. Interesting how life works. Will be ordering 'Prohibition' for sure. Will seeds be available for the spring?
