Square PVC

I've been using the round PVC piping for some grows but the threaded end caps don't form a perfect seal and don't stay in place when trying to unscrew the end caps.

I am looking to switch over to square PVC but I need a end cap solution that is easy to take off and forms a good seal.

Any suggestions?

Use teflon tape like dunkydunk said, what size of pipe you have ?, what do you mean switching to square pvc?, as far as I know pipes are round mate!, @ least up here in Canada!! LOL

The square pvc he is talking about is fencing from Lowes or Home Depot. The square will grow plants better due to the much larger root area. However, the PVC will seal much better. if you use the square, you almost have to permanently glue the downhill side, Hope that helps. Good Luck!

We had a cat on here that had a pretty nice grow going with the 4" or 5" fence posts.

OP, why are you wanting to remove the end caps, maintenance/flushing out?

oh sorry guys had no idea about that stuff?,( square pipe?)
If you have pvc pipe that is 2" 3", 4", you can buy these rubber/plastic plumbing fittings that can be inserted into the end of pipe and tightened up, and removed easily, they come in up to 4" I think, good luck .......

Exactly! I am using the round 4" PVC and the problem is when that threaded end cap gets on there so tight that it is almost impossible to get off without rotating the round PVC.

I figured if I went with a 5" Square PVC I could 'tie' it down.

I would love to have those rubber plastic fittings for the square pvc. Has anybody ever seen something like that?

Otherwise, I might have to just get those rubber plastic fittings for the round PVC.

I was using 4 inch fence post. The ends had the square end pieces and before I put them on, I stuffed the ends with sytrofoam that i cut just slight larger then th 4 inch ends and stuffed them in tighly and place the end caps over. some glue will dissolve the stryofoam so if you glue after using the sytrofoam insert keep that in mind.

yeah op they only make those rubber plugs for the round pipe , never seen nothing like that for square, but they are cheap, and easy to install and remove, 4" is maybe the biggest they come...
