What are you growing in now, Tilt? I switched over to Biobiz Light Mix and I think we're in the same containers. I'm getting about 6-8g per plant now. That new cab looks bombastic though, homie. Good shit. Love seeing it full.

Black gold coco blend worm castings and pumice. I use organics so I don't have the yeild advantages of mineral nutrients. I know organics work better with a larger container size so I'm kinda growing with an arm tied behind my back. Maybe higher numbers will come with better technique or genetics but my needs are taken care of by what I get allready. If I was growing for profit my strategy would be totally different.

Hey Tilt.

Could I please ask for a few pics as the grow comes along? :) It would be very much appreciated.

I currently run 6 horizontal "cooltubed" 55w pl-l's in my system and I love to build improvements, but I would like to compare the two setups before changing.

Cheers.

Have you ever thought about using those blumats? They save a lot of time in narrow and crowded environments. I actually can't image anymore how it was when I wasn't using these :D

I would need $300.00 dollars worth of them and I don't think I can use earth juice with them. My container size doesn't allow for a water only mix. I dream about them though.

Hey Tilt, got a question for you on wiring pl-l lights. I got sockets that can handle up to 75w 600v and it has 8 holes for wire, 2 holes for each pin. The instructions I've seen only show one hole for each pin and bridge 1/2 and 3/4. Not sure how to set this one up.

Also, the yellow wire needs to have 4 leads. Do you you put four wires to the yellow wire all under one cap or what? Just not sure how to fit that many wires in one cap.

I've got two workhorse 8's to wire for 4 bulbs each. Thanks

EDIT: Nevermind, I figured out the wiring. That ballast gets much hotter than I was expecting as well as the bulbs. I think I'm frying some of my plants due to additional heat plus the aggressive trimming of fan leaves. I need to get my cab built quick

tilt use old soil in with your new soil when you pot and repot. organics take a while to get going and the old amended soil will help boost that. organics work the best with a little longer veg if your going with all new soil. organics can produce as well as salts if you do it. i use earth juice line, high n or p bat guano, ewc, and molasses in my teas. soil is local organic peat base, ewc, and perlite. about half of my soil i use is from a past grow.

My current soil is about a year old with about 3 cubic feet added recently to the mass. I cycle it through most soil gets an 8 week rest in a large tote before going back to work.

pll get a good 12 to 16 inch penetration

More like 8" max after that it's popcorn...

This grow looks sweet, can't wait to see how it turns out. Light placement looks optimal, this is going to put out some top shelf nugs.

Very nice Tilt! How do you like the mini treepots? those are the 3x3x8's right? I am just in the process of switching over to them. Do you put anything at the bottom to lessen the huge hole? My first few I have just been packing the first scoop of dirt tight and so far that seems to be working OK.

I have often thought of running verticals like this, but have wondered if it is worth it since there is some loss of footprint (in my case) and my cab is very small. Please keep posting occasional plant dry-weights, as that is a great way for me to compare your vert setup with my overhead cfl's. Since we are running the same pots it would be very helpful to me.

*edit to add* I use a water only, amended recycled soil mix in similar size pots and it works great. I expect it to work just as well in the mt38's, but that is as of yet unseen. I've been logging results and tweaking since September. If you want me to post the recipe just say so.
