damn i wonder why so many of us are getting 2-3 week roots. my SFV og definately takes more than 2 somtimes.

think a seedling heating mat would help speed things up? i was always thinking my stuff roots slow because my veg closet has no heating...its usually around 50-60 in there

Really? That is so strange. I have a Casey from seed circa 2007. It is by far the easiest to clone I have. Will always take a few days less than others and has extreme vigor.

Yeah I know it's weird. I run a whole bunch of stuff and it always takes the longest for me...

Ehhh, just drop the nitrogen down on the mother a week or two before cloning and it's alot easier to take a clone from a hard to clone strain. :)

UK Cheese always roots last....after all others have rooted....not under 2,5 weeks and often after 4 weeks

a killer chemdog pheno i have roots very slow, too... but absolutely worth waiting for ;-)

in contrast to that, the sour diesel (riri) roots in like 10 days...and all of the galadriel phenos i have root 100% in under 2 weeks....always....

blue berry with out a doubt !!!!

but nothing i have come across takes longer than 10 days to show at least one or 2 roots in my aeroponics system !! usaly 14 days and there ready to go under lights even the blueberry !!!
when i used to do it the old fashioned way was a nightmaire 30 % success rate i was useless lol
dummy proof the old aeroponics with a water heater !!!!

I also have found that all Blueberry dom. strains are harder to clone due to a predominantly woodsy stem nature.

Blueberry makes you work HARDER for the money! LOL

On the other side Sativas are the easiest to clone just requiring water and warm temps.

My OG cut is super slow and my Blueberry cut is super fast. I do use a heat mat for cuts and seedlings and OG is always last to root and last to start growing once rooted. Very finicky girl indeed. The Blueberry acts like she is on steroids! Roots quick and perks up fast.

I had a Jamaican strain that was impossible to clone, and tough to grow

Fire OG Kush right now for me.

I used to flush my moms for a few days and spray them with RO water before taking cuts. Used to get cuts rooted in 10 days or less. I haven't been doing it lately and I see that its taking much longer to root. Getting that Nitrogen and Calcium down in the plant is crucial since these elements are used in leaf and stem growth. Hitting them with a dose of Phosphorous before taking cuts also helps roots grow faster since P is used for root growth.

Tahoe OG. Lost her cause the cuts didn't root during a root aphid eradication....

She looked and smelled so sexy too...

Yes! Invest in a thermostat though for it....otherwise you'll cook the roots, mine do at least - easily 90°+ without one, just plugged in. I was cheap and didn't have the $20 they wanted for the thermo at the hydro shop (hah!), so I just stacked multiple towels between the mat and tray until I dialed in around 77° - rooting times jumped dramatically; I'd say they began to root in maybe half-3/4 of the time as before.

Definitely. Forgot to add, that I use a simple meat thermometer for measuring the temps of my plugs....just reserve one for monitoring (I suppose you could 'share' a plug between a cutting and a thermometer....) and stick the thermometer right into your rapid rooter/rockwool, etc. Works great. :dance013:

(looks like the towels have 'settled' a bit and are transferring heat better, temps are a couple degrees too high for my liking at the moment...will have to add another towel or add a slight fold/wrinkle in between them to cool a bit.)

Another trick I have tried, with very good success - but requires a timer, is to set your mat onto a timer, with the timer set on an intermittent schedule, I.E. 45min. on - 15min. off, repeat throughout the day; or a variation, depending on the timer settings available, such as 30min. on - 10min. off, etc. This is simply another way to regulate the temperature of your root zone without it becoming too hot from a heat mat.

OG's are definitely a pain. but ive also seen some pretty sporadic results with them. Ive had roots in 6-7 days, ive had them take 3-4 weeks. Ive had batches where one roots in less than 10 days, and 20 others sit looking perfect, but never rooting. After keeping moms of/ cloning og for about 4-5 years i finally was starting to have 100% success usually rooting in under 2 weeks. I think the key with og is to consistently be recycling moms, Once they get older and have had to many batches of clones taken they definitely lose vigor. Taking clones of younger mother plants i noticed faster rooting and better success.

Another huge key for me was finding the pefect moisture level in rapid rooters. (ive cloned og in just about everything and rapid rooters worked best for me, rockwool ok, and aeroponic horrible compared to other strains)
About 5 days after taking cuts i try to almost let them dry out, keeping just the slightest possible amount of moisture. I usually notice they will pop out roots right before you think they are gonna be too dry... But at the same time, make sure they dont get too dry. Its tricky, but you eventually find that perfect moisture level and the ogs start rooting like champs.

(ok speaking of og, im so fucking stoned off some this whole post probably is impossible to read)
