Prostate Problems, Your Experiences and Cures if Any?

Hey Gang,
60 years old and peeing every 2 hours all night for years...So thought maybe I'd get my self "cured"...What has anyone had done to help/cure this as my ass is draggin in the morning as well as the wife...TURP is what I was suggested to take care of everything, but what real side issues do you have or are aware of etc...

Are you having a lot of these symptoms, trouble starting a stream? you do get up a lot we know that, low pressure when peeing? can you still get it up and pull the trigger? How's your blood pressure? your not Diabetic are you? over weight? still at your age you should get a PSA blood test and every year have the old doc stick the finger up your ASS...Get it Done..May your Dr be cute and give you a reach around while she violates you from the rear.. I kid but do take this seriously..Good Luck

Saw palmetto + what HighDesertJoe said.....maybe not the reach around part. Definitely a PSA, check your chemistries....yada...yada. Not a fan of the finger in the rear but it's a must for most folk over a certain age. You could be experiencing benign prostatic hypertrophy....in that case the saw palmetto (tea form preferably) would be beneficial. However, sometimes something worse like prostate cancer can mimic the same benign symptoms......and there's only a few definitive ways to see what's up (no pun intended).

Hey Treetops Hopefully you might only have Prostatitis this inflammation can be easily cleared up with antibiotics. You going to your general Dr or a Urologist? anyway it's good that more men get out there and talk about it I'm a bit of a smart ASS and I'll ask anybody of the right age how's there Prostate's working out for them, I do this just to get the message out there..again best of LUCK to you..

Sure like the sounds of that as maybe it can be taken care of in short order...Odd as I now have an eye infection, going away as we speak..but docs didnt really know what it was...we are remodeling, new insulation etc...but still an infection..no white in my eye all..kinda creepy looking...

Perspective is your real problem. You think only sleeping two hours at a time is a problem, instead, you could smile when you realize you are alive and still be able to pee, it is an affirmation of life. Often I would be happy to get as much as two at one go, mostly I get an hour at a time. I aspire to sleep as long as you, see?

Cause once you decide it is a problem, then ya gotta do something about it, go to a doc, and shit goes down hill from there many times. You sleep, you pee, quit while you are ahead.

Flomax worked great but I couldn't deal with the side effects (ask your doctor) so I quit it, have tried 2 other drugs to no avail but my doctor thinks that Avodart will work for me so I'm trying that next.


Avodart is $10.00 per pill here in the USA but only $2.20 per pill via the canadian pharmacy which I use.......

I don't know if you have a Costco near you if you do you can buy Avodart 0.5mg 30 pills there and it works out to $3.80 a pill and you don't need to be a member to use the Pharmacy just tell the person at the front door your going to the pharmacy they'll let you right in, hell I buy my Vicodins there a 100 cost me $15.00..and I always ask the Dr for samples they usually have them.Good Luck my you start peeing like a race horse.

Ejaculation at least twice a week is a good way to prevent BPH. In addition to Saw Palmetto, Pygeum should help.

Of course, the main threat here is prostate cancer. That's how my ordeal started, with a 4.2 PSA. My Primary Physician considered that high and would not deal with me until I got a biopsy with ultrasound. So I tried Saw Palmetto and urinary drops from the Ozarks. It went down and came back up, my PSA....over a period of a year. So I had the biopsy before I lost my insurance from upcoming unemployment.

I was cancer free so I tried Flomax because like Haps, I wake up every hour to pee. Well, the Flomax worked great but it made me impotent. I couldn't get a nut. Also the Flomax was $60 because it was considered a "New Drug" from my new insurance co. I've got a list of generic ones, but all this shit takes time off my procratination, you know.

My arm and leg/foot will go numb from sleeping on my side so I don't mind getting up to pee every 1-2 hours nightly. My doc does'nt understand me. You can't tell any of them you smoke because of insurance which I really hate. That's another subject.

On a good note my PSA is down to 2.1 now. The PSA is very controversial, not an absolute. And of course prostate cancer is very deadly or very slow depending on which type.

Sounds like things are much better for you at this stage...If I could only pee less...but for some strange reason, since I've been taking some much needed Vit. D..I have in the last two nights reduced my up times by 2 times...gettin some needed sleep..I also take Amoxicillin for an infection/sinus...works well...
