No surprises, nothing new I could discern. For some reason I thought a renewal was going to be cheaper but it was not. Oh, forgot - you have to make an appointment now to be seen.

I've read that a renewal is not necessary to be protected under medical defense for using/producing medical marijuana.

No. You have to stay current on your MM authorization.

Nope.

If you had/have a valid rec, it doesn't expire. If you HAD a rec and it has since expired and you get popped, you can still use a medical defense after clearing up the discrepancy in paperwork. Your Dr. should have another appointment with you and confirm you do still need the medical benefits of MMJ. So as long as your Dr would do another rec for you, you're golden.

I've gone through this in the court system, although I got out with no charges, its still a big pain in the ass, my suggestion is pay <$150 and have a smidge more peace of mind for the whole year .

um then i guess i broke a lot of ground for you with my face, cause i was probably the first of all of us to go through it and, yeah, no dice.... they told me i couldn't use the defense even with corrected updated paperwork. fuckemall

While going through bullshit court proceedings, the DA didn't have any hard evidence of anything against a co op partner of mine, except an expired rec. They tried to nail him with that fact, until I brought up this case law and it was immediately a non factor in the case.

I too had a visit 1 week after my rec expired in LA. Case was dropped and I got a court order to return a lot of herb. JK
