Anyone got examples of what 3rd week in flower looks like? I know that seems a little ambiguous, strain is white widow from DP

Thanks, man. I was mostly just embarrassed because your girl is a picture of green healthiness haha

The bag soil is 'Gardeners Gold', I think their master gardener mix. It's the only one they carry at my shop. There is also a good amount of compost from outside; I ran out of soil like half way through transplant... Cause I'm dumb haha

They are 41ish days from 12/12. About 30 days of actual flower. I'll try and be more diligent in my picture posting, I hope you all do the same. I've learned so much from this thread in the past few months, I think it might be time for me to officially apply for membership in the 150w club.

Good growing, friends.

You should see mine :'( I see all these pictures of deep dark huge green fan leaves and mine are small light green and many of them burnt or nute burnt. Sad but I learned alot so far, hopefully next time things will be lush and green :)

I've been a part of the 150watt HPS club for over a decade, they work great for all aspects of growing.

I love looking through this thread, there is tons of information and love seeing the small growers ingenuity. The best ideas come from people that have limited resources! Keep up the good work guys.

HobbyGrower,

Im not always sure with the 'back of the hand test.' The best way to go about it is put a thermometer right at canopy level, wait a while( a few hours even) with the lights on, and see what your tempature is. When I first started growing indoors I'd put the thermo meter down on the ledge, a little above pot level. It would never go above 78' F and I though I was alright. I was also using the 'back of the hand test.' Then came obvious signs of heat stress. Scorched/dry leaves. Curling. I decided to put the thermometer at canopy level and was suprised to see it at 89' F! Lesson learned. It also helps to put a fan between your light, and your canopy. Peace!

Dude, this was *extremely* helpful :tiphat:. Plus rep. Sure enough, 79 degrees at the pot level and 84 degrees at the canopy. UGH! back to the drawing board getting my box dialed in. Thanks for your help.

For all u 150w user, do u veg your plant under 150w also? If yes can u veg it under 150 hps? A buddy of mine is building a grow box for me that comes with a 150w hps light. I understand that MH is best for veg but in my case what can i do? Do i bring in some cfl and veg under cfl or do i have to go out and buy a new 150w light that will work for hps/mh? Or do u guys not veg at all and just go straight to 12/12 after the clone is rooted? Thanks.

You can veg using the 150hps no problem.

If you can purchase another ballast, look into getting a 150watt pulse start metal halide, then you could get a Ceramic Metal Halide lamp that should do better than either the MH or HPS alone.
You would then have the ability to run two lamps at a time, and you could try out all three types to see what you and the plants you chose like best.

Heres my cab, is it possible to run all 8 plants in here? Or will this be pushing it? I was planning on doing a sog grow in this cab with 8 plants? Do u guys think i will get a better yield doing it this way or should i run only 1-2 plant's and do a scrog grow instead?

If you are growing for personal use you should look into auto flowering genetics. This way you can have different plants at all stages of growth in one cab.

8 plants in there would be pure insanity! Unless they are autoflowering, and even then it would be crowded. Your number one limitation in my opinion is your height. If the cab height is 28 inches, that hood must be taking up a minimum of 6, plus 6 or 7 for the pots. That leaves only 16 inches of height at best. No way you could pull off a SOG of anything other than autoflowering plants without a huge hassle.

It would be more like a scrog without the screen because of how much you would need to tie them down. Even the shortest non AF strain I run will get to 18" if I go 12/12 as soon as the clone roots. And some even hit 24".

Your best bet would be to get some AF seeds, or just grow out 4 instead of 8 so you have room to bend them all over as needed. With that hood, if you are pulling air through it, you could mount a screen a few inches below it and get a nice 2-4 plant scrog going as well.

But if you try to flower out 8 plants in there, you will probably get the same amount of bud as if you did 4 due to all the competition for light. I did 8 Diesel Ryders (autoflower) in a minifridge with a 31" height and had plenty of room, but they were packed wall to wall and I only had to bend one over. If I had to bend any others, so many buds would not have been receiving nearly enough light.

Best of luck!

"In your case?" You do what you can Bro. If you have the room and opportunity to veg under your 150, by all means do so1 May be add some clf's for spectrum IF you're able. Keep that 150 as close as you can given your situation and temps, but push it to the MAX!
No, you don't need a MH or conversion bulb set up. Yes, some don't veg at all, and grow from seed/clone. Depends on your personal situation, choice of grow method, and environment. If you choose a 150, I'm sure you'll find that it's the most versetile bulb around. Soil, hydro, SOG, LST, Scrog... The 150 can do it all  After that, it's just a matter upgrading once you dial in what works best for you and your life style.
I would hope that I'm a typical 150 grower in that I veg under small watt, mix spectrum fluro/clf bulbs. The min needed to keep a few mums (& even paps @ X's) alive and establish a tiny seedling/clone area.
Hope that helps :tiphat:

Hey, nice tube setup. I've never attempted one myself, so at the risk of a Sounding like a know it all... I believe another member also used hurricane glass for a tube and found that the shape really threw off the whole concept. Pockets in the airflow and all that. Now, having never tried it myself, I can only speak second hand; however, I felt it was worth noting.

thank you! the airflow seems mostly unrestricted and has a smooth path around the bulb. i worried about the strange air flow pattern too. But it seems to be working very well for me! temps are perfect and the glass is almost room temp to the touch. id let plants grow into it honestly.

i did also get a message with advice on putting the socket on the exhausted side. this gives slightly lower temps. i decided i use mine for part heater, and it was easier to seal that side so i didnt worry. i figured i would share this for people who needed to make one for temp control mainly.
