Signature limit

I checked the the TOU and found nothing pertaining to how long a signature can be. Is there no limit? Judging from some of the members LONG signatures, I dont think there is. I think this is something that should be added. I'm all for customization, but some are just too big.

I think there should be a limit and will look into it and see what a fair limit is
also a restriction on pic sizes and links etc

Very good ideas. Large sigs are obnoxious over and over again. My solution? I put members
with big sigs on ignore. Got about 20 in there now. I "view" a post of theirs once in a while
and if it's been reduced I tak'em off ignore. I also have my "image view" set to 1024 x 768
so that all pics larger than that default to that size. Works great! No honking huge pics. lol
My pet peeve is members who repost pics that are already in the thread, sometimes up to
ten pics. Did they think I forgot them from one post or one page away. I wish something
could be done about that.

I'm looking at cutting the amount of lines used and amount of text & pictures
this may be staggered to allow senior members more than say new members, like the 50 post rule

as to pic's in reply's it can be useful to point out something in the pic's when replying
but I understand what you mean
members can edit out the pic's when they reply but most don't bother
it may be possible to have button or tick box to include or exclude the pic's, that I will look into

On another forum I post on only the mods have sigs. They have VB as well and they've somehow modded the settings so that the signatures will only show up once per page.

So say Mr.BigSig posts 3 times on one page, his signature will only show up in his first post on that page and only once on subsequent pages as well.

I guess this wouldn't help much if you had multiple people with massive sigs posting even once on the same page.

At one point it got to be so annoying that I simply turned off the ability to see signatures in my preferences. Occasionally someone will post "check the link in my sig" and I'll have to visit their profile to see what they're talking about, but for the most part the forums are dramatically improved by not having signatures enabled, in my opinion.

Sig length limits would certainly help, but I also get tired of the big fonts, crazy colors, and general lunacy of some people's signatures.

on other sites i go to, they allow all reg members 3 links/pics/lines....but all paying/donating members get a little more....


this is good in my opinion because it will generate a little extra money for the site from ppl who want bigger sigs(believe it or not it actually works..)

Great ideas in here! You can do a lot with tweaking preferences and using different options
and settings.

There's nothing but small sigs in this thread... ha ha ha... it's nice too. I like sigs, some use
them responsibly and put good stuff in them thats why I don't want them all gone. Deff sig pix
should be limited in height, that'd make that huge midget shorter, lol.
