What's new

master bedroom medical closet etc.

hmmmm, thanks for the input Sinecure, definitely not something i had thought of. i was thinking more along the lines that carpet could get infested with all kinds of shit, and then that could continusly attack my garden. but i guess if i used a sheet of plywood between carpet and panda plastic the ply wood could already have disease growing on it. im going to get some pond liner day after tomorow (chemistry test tomorow, uggggh). this electric is going to be an issue, but that can be figured out this weekend. equipment gets here before sunday.

so its friday the 13th, and i thought this lucky day was a good one to start my journey on. im going to germinate them for 24hrs in the pill bottles, then throw them the unsprouted ones into a paper towel that ill put into a baggie. the sprouted ones, if any, ill throw into my aerogarden that i stashed under my sink. i also threw in an air pump and large air stone to give ruts and water more oxygen. temp under the sink is at 65, so im going to try and change that asap, but it might not be that easy. this is only for small plants, my equipment is arriving in the next few days. just thought i would see what folks say about my clone/seedling set up.

Cant wait to see that blue mystic grow out....i got some blue mystic from Nirvana and i havent grown it yet...curious to see what someone else can make it do before i grow it!!!! ill by stopping by every day bub!!!!

nah its nirvana-shop that i used. used plastic no problem, although it was not my plastic that i used, just for security. also i knew that they shipped 2x a week, so i ordered the day before they shipped, and got it in a week. not the best seed quality, but out of 28, 4 sank to the bottom, i think meaning that they will not live.

edit. sinking better be good, all but 2 have sunk. don't know if it actually means anything, will see. so far i have 10 seeds that i identified as sprouted, and placed into the coco that then went into the aero garden that is filled with distilled water. starting to remember the good old days of waking down bushes, hiking in god knows how many pounds of potting soil, and tending to it all. im gonna be a parent for a while now, probably the downside of all this.

I hope you own the property that you are modifying! where are you going to vent all that heat?---into your neighbor's apartment? Pull that carpeting out---shit spills. I assume your growing in soil. Get some of those square white pots and a large botanicare pot container for the floor. If anything spills, it's contained by the pot container. Use weak soil in perforated beer cups to germinate in and repot into stronger soil with a larger container later. LIGHT LEAKS!! Is that walk in closet going to be 100% light leak proof? Start looking at that problem now. You sure did spend a lot of money---do you really need a sulfur burner now? That dehumidifier is a good thing for late flowering---good idea. Your biggest problem is going to be temp control because youre running 2 HPS lights. You ought to use a MH conversion bulb for Veg or get a 400 watt CMH ballast/bulb. I wish I was your neighbor so I could help you set up.

i too wish you were my neighbor Mackawber, but my current neighbor will merk anybody who tries to forcefully break in. thanks for the kind words. i dont own my property, but i signed a lease for a year, and have landlords that are not going to figure anything out. done some light modding so far, but i need to get on that. well for venting im going to have to climb into my roof to have a look around before i make a final decision, and that entails cutting a hole, but i got it under control. intake for the room is going to be passive, or maybe vented, but the air is going to come from out side, through a furnace filter, and into the room. the out take for the room is through the carbon filter, into the lights, and then out into the bedroom, hopefully heating it up a lot, and containing the smell. i have 2 small ionizers that i picked up and have one downstairs and one in the bedroom. also this is all 8inch ducting, and a vortex with 750cfm, and its only 2 600w lights. we will see if its a problem.
yep im going to use soil. got sold on that idea by the pros. yesterday i picked up some 4 mil black plastic at the hardware store. i was thinking that it would be my pot container, carpet protector, etc. i might even put 2 layers. some member a few posts ago said that i should leave the carpet in so that its easier on my knees, and if its not going to contaminate shit, then i think that plastic i have will not break and will work, so should i change anything? thanks for the seedling soil tip, will use it. light does leak, but i bought a zipper door, and im going to plastic up the inside of the door frame, throw a zipper on, weather stripe the door, and that should work. also the light is leaked into my bedroom, no biggie. its gonna be 100%! maybe i dont need a sulfur burner, but i would feel safer. haven't got all that yet, im just starting on hanging shit today. money money money, whatever, im broke. ya an i live in one of those real rainy areas, dehumidifier is gonna be crucial. looked on ebay, and its way cheaper than hydro shops. any comments?

ok some questions that would really help me out:
first up is my germination. going along very good, 21 out of 28 have sprouted in paper towels, and are now in coco and distilled water, in the aerogarden, and getting 6 on 6 off of air through a 4inch airstone. what im thinking about is the air temp in there. its above 60, but not more than 78. that means that the water temp is around the low 70's.
picture.php

hope yall think the air sump is a good idea, and that the timer will not hurt it. also notice the magnetic door clasps i put on yesterday, so nice having shit that works well. now for the aquarium heater i picked up.
picture.php

it has the temperatures on top, and i have been testing it for 24hrs, seems to run about 6 degrees hotter than it says. should i use it in the aerogarden, and if so at what temp do roots like most? i thought of this idea cuz i didnt want to buy a heat mat and thermostat, and this was at goodwill. please comment on this, the seeds have sprouted and are already in the aerogarden, and more are on the way.
picture.php

now for some electrical shit. ya carbon filter is way overkill, i know. so wiring is like this. the ballast go in a different part of the house, and are wired to the outlet circuit of the house, and then ill run the ballast to hood wires into, the grow room. in the grow room there is an overhead light, as seen in the second picture. there is also a switch for said light. i want to put an outlet into the grow room, either where the light is currently, or just seal that up, and put the outlet where the switch is. what is a better idea, and what should i know to do this. vortex and dehumidifier, and other small shit will go on this outlet. i know how to do building shit, i just have never worked with electrical before. im very sketched out by this. help help help.
and here are the lights i got, one was dented when i got it, might send it back.

and some randon shit i also have lying around.

Yo West, lookin good man. That is my ideal setup someday, a nice stealthy closet with dual AC hoods.

Anyways, your electric question might be solved best by a heavy duty extension cord and a power strip. You could take the light out and wire an outlet onto there, but then you will have an outlet on your ceiling, and probably end up using a power strip and extension cord anyways.

If you are really set on wiring up a new outlet in there it's pretty easy with the usual handyman skills. Throw the breaker off is the first thing obviously. From there it is simply unscrew from wall, unscrew the screws holding the wires, put wires around the screws on new outlet and tighten, then screw it back onto the wall. The light switch most likely has a couple sets of wires and might not be as easy.

My vote is still extension cord tho, if you already have wires from the ballast running into the room a couple more won't hurt. That way you won't have to worry about making any changes to the apartment either.

fisrt week for seedlings, construction continues

fisrt week for seedlings, construction continues

ok so its a week, and seedlings are doing pretty good i think. how much longer should i let them grow before i put them into dirt and under a 600w? ill start the 600 at least 3ft away from to start, and was thinking about putting a piece of cloth under it to defuse the light even more.

should i change the water after this first week. the directions for the unit say that the coco cubes have enough nutrients for the babies for the first 2 weeks, and that then i should add their nutrient. water definitely has an off color.
still working on turning the light switch in the closet into an outlet, but im waiting for a professional to help out or show me how. :wallbash:
picture.php

3 sets of wires? what the fuck is that for? is one running in hot, one running out hot, and one running to the old light? i was thinking there would only be 2 wires in the switch box. i cant figure out which 2 i should attach to the outlet that i purchased.

filter is hung, perfect spot. picked up the shelf supports at goodwill for $2. they wanted 2 apiece, but i took all but 1 sticker off and was like im not paying 10 bucks for a shelf, it says 2 for the bundle, so i got a five finger discount applied at the register. damn mylay is a bitch to hang. tried by my self, then got somebody dosed out to help out. he had fun, now the mylar looks like shit. might have to redo it. whatever. and the lights hang nicely on them badass hooks i put into the roof.

more construction.
ok so when i got my 2 sunsystem xxl hoods, one was dented a bit too much for me to be cool with, so i called the peeps that i ordered from, and told them the situation. here is whats happening: they bill it to the shipper cuz it was insured, and sent me a new one in the same day. thats in the mail, but whats cool is that ups picks up the old one, and only sometimes do they do that. they are not going to get it though. :nanana:now i gotta pick up a 400w mh ballast and bulb and i got a rocking veg set up. thats some good news.

Major break on the hood West....well done.

Great fun I am sure.

Any other lucky breaks? Bought a lottery ticket lately?

Any disappointments so far?

I use the diamond pressed mylar..my poor quality job shows less...hahaha.

Prolly not as good as the house of mirrors stuff you are using though.

im american, give me "free" shit and ill come back every time. might be that the coco that i put the sprouted seeds into was too wet, but even though i could see that the seeds had sprouted, only 15 out of 28 are actually alive. and i dont know how many males will be in that, so im trying to grab some clones from out of the state. uggh. but they are healthy as shit, ill get some pictures today as its time for a weekly update. its more if your using mirrors on a roll, dont get somebody on 4 hits to help hang it. ill redo it up once all my equipment is good. mlyar is not that important from what i can tell. flat white walls are 95% reflective, so this cant help that much, except for the weekly cleaning, its going to be easier with mylar i think. also 2 mil is crucial. what im interested in is the IR blocking shit. makes it so your grow has zero heat signature. thats very good for security.

Hey west, Whatever you do please do not up amperage on any of your circuit breakers. You will have a fire. Also, try your washer/dryer circuits for higher rating to plug and play.
