thanks for the kind words. when this lady is harvested i'm going to cross her with a haze to get some beans. i'm super happy so far with this strains results. i'd read on here that the yields could be not so good. i'm hoping for 3 zips:YaRight:from an 8 week flower. how long did you flower yours?

trichs are really showing up nicely... i'm actually down to 272 watts now. sent the aquarium light to cloning duty. i'm at full power on the general hydro nutrients. i'm going on vacation soon for a week and have to devise an auto fill water system that will fill the waterfarm with about 2.2 liters every 24 hours with out flooding anything or killing anything. grumble grumble.

I let her flower for about 5 1/2 weeks but she could of gone about another week.

I wish I had a few of them there is always gonna be a place in my heart for that ole gal

Hi blownupboy

I have to say that the plant looks amazing! I love the healthiness of it and the buds are looking dank already. Hope you get some awesome bud dude :dance013:

May I offer one suggestion?

It concerns your tent. As you may already know, I use the DR40. I think they are great tents. I was looking at this pic: https://www.icmag.com/ic/picture.php?albumid=24652&pictureid=536006

You seem to have everything going just fine right now, so I say keep a rockin', but for your next grow, I would externalize the blower and alot of the tubing. Maybe hang the filter from the top support beams (mine came with a set of 3 bars with which to hang lights and stuff). It also came with these black straps (I see you're using one for the hose in the tent). I would use both straps to hang the filter, connect a hose to it, then run it out the tent outlet hole to the blower fan, making sure that the filter "sucked" air in and the blower "blew" filtered air out.

You would have extra space for more plants and/or equipment . Just a thought. Otherwise, your first grow looks awesome dude! Happy Growin' :)

yes... about the airflow configuritation..:chin:

when i set up the tent i cut all the hoses super extra long to serve two purposes - 1. to make sure no light was getting in the intake hose and 2. to make stuff easy to move around in case i had to move stuff around.

i initially was going to hang the filter from the cross beams but it felt too heavy and when i picked it up a bunch of carbon dust slid down towards the blower fan that i just bought so i said 'f' it and left it on the ground. with it on the ground, i figured the air input, which is located on the bottom of the tent, should be routed to up above the lights to cool them off a bit and provide circulation, because after all the filter was on the ground, so top to bottom airflow.

but long story short, i hung the filter up on the cross beams the other day. the air input hose is still routed up high as well, but now i figure that with the fan blowing air around in there, there really is no top to bottom airflow. airs probably going everywhich way in there.. going well so far! thanks for the tip... could probably hang even more stuff up there. those beams are pretty strong.

the fan stays in the tent because it gives me the false illusion that the thin layer of mylar makes it much quieter. the tent is a couple inches from my bed.:) and it sounds like a really loud white noise machine.

comin along nicely should start to frost up for ya soon u may want to add an airstone in the bottom of the waterfarm. more oxygen to ur roots = bigger nugz.

day 41 of flower pics/update

day 41 of flower pics/update

sooooo... a lot has happened in the past 2 weeks or so, i've just been lax in updating the grow diary.

on the dec 18th, i had to leave town for a week for the holidays. i didn't have anyone i trusted enough to keep an eye on the grow, so i made a makeshift auto watering system because the plant drrinks about 2.2 liters per day which would empty the waterfarm reservoir in about 3 days. instead of trying to make a toilet float type system work, i got a 2 gallon per hour pump reducer and timed that it would pump about 2 liters of nutrient in about 10 minutes. i set a timer to run the nutrient reservoir (a 5 gallon home depot bucket) each day at about 8pm. then i put the whole sha bang bang into a large storage container (5 gallon bucket and plant) just in case anything flooded when i was gone.

in the process of moving the plant into the large container, i knocked over the main center calyx in the middle. right over, like 90 degrees. i panicked because i was doing this the day before my flight and i didn't know what to do. i ended up tying the center stem that was busted up to the top of the grow tent to keep it at least vertical. i had no tape or anything else to repair the stem, just hoped for the best.

when i returrned 8 days later, i was hoping for the best but knew that a fire, flood, or death were all likely outcomes.

before opening the tent, i noticed my auto water fill timer was on "off" instead of "auto". additionally there was about an inch of nutrient/water in the bottom of the large container, the 5 gallon bucket was just about empty and the waterfarm with the plant had maybe an inch of nutrient remaining (probably not even enought to water.

thats the bad news, the good news is that whatever went wrong - bad timer, bad timer programming, power outage, water leak, whatever it was didn't seem to hurt the plant much or at all, and the main stem that had the 90 degree break had healed up nicely and now looks like a knobby kneecap.

if anything, maybe growth was stunted a bit. the nutrient in the 5 gallon bucket was diluted by about half because i didn't want any chance of nutrient burn that i wouldn't have been able to attend to.

heres the pics:

also, FYI these pics are after pruning maybe 20-30 fan leaves. i know some people would suggest trimming more... but i've been doing very little defoliation on this plant, and its been working well for me. i feel like the more leaves on the plant, the more stable it is if anything goes wrong lighting or nutrient wise. before these leaves came off, i had removed only maybe 5 or 6 fan leaves total since clone.

Very good job man! Thats a solid job right there. Green Crack looks like fire! And 13oz wet weight? Not bad for fluorescents.

the cure

the cure

above is approx day 4 of drying. using grow tent, fan, carbon scrubber and bowl of white rice for drying. dried to approx 45 percent humidity then transferred to 16 ounce ball jars. you can't see from this view, but the large buds were hanging from the beams of the top of the tent...

69 gram dry harvest weight. breakdown was 3 and a half jars full of 24 grams big buds, 22 grams mid size buds, 13 grams small buds, and 11 grams popcorn shake.

above is an eighth on the old electronic counterbalance.

did a bit of a "colorado cut" on the buds, i.e. left more leaf than normal. didn't see the point in trimming of leaves that have a fair amount of trichs and wasn't planning on a hash setup at the time for trimmings and stems, although i am planning on that now.

yeah, i was pretty surprised. but after trimming and drying i netted 69 grams in the breakdown above. i feel like they're a little over dried though despite the humidity seeming to be right on. maybe after the cure they will even out a bit.

it was about 369 grams wet and 69 grams dry so lost about 80% in the dry precure..
