SS AK-47 and THS Kushage Log

Just wanted to get this up as a place holder. I'm about 5 weeks into veg with 9 of 11 surviving AK's and 5 of 5 Kushage. Seeds were from a batch purchased at the end of last year. The Kushage is just for fun...what I'm really after is the AK! Looking to do some pollination and hopfully mom out a cherry pheno. Fingers are crossed! :D

I'll do this log up right tomorrow. Need sleep.

Your going to love the kushage from thseeds. I grew this year outdoors and got some banging stony bud. Here is a pic of some dried and cured after 3 weeks.

Nick, that bud looks tasty! I'm hoping for good things from the Kushage.

Thanks for kicking this back up for me. I've been so busy, I forgot to go back and get this log going. FWIW, I left my Kushage a bit too long in veg. I'd guess they are about 6.5' tall right now @ 3 weeks flower....and my ceiling is 8'. I'm debating lots of bending...or pulling a bulb out of a hood and finishing them vert style. Details to follow...

Thanks phog. I'm already down to just 3 AK's. 6 boys...:( Oh well. One of the boys shows a trifoliate leaf patern so I kept a clone of that. Will be moving him offsite for flower time soon. The AK's look great! They are a bit overwhelmed by the Kushage but I'm working on a solution. I'll try to get this updated tonight with some progression pics.

On another note, I just recieved 6 Sour Kush (Sour D x OG) and 6 La Confidentials. 4 freebies came along for the ride. REALLY high hopes for the Sour Kush aka Headband. :D

Well, life is just a bit too busy. I've been lazy documenting this grow but I do have a few pics. The 3 AK ladies are flowering nicely. Very indica like in growth. The Kushage on the other hand is a stretchy lady! I've been a bit overwhelmed by the stretch. Put into flower at about 2.5 feet soil to top, the talest now has a bud topping out at 7 feet! I had to grab another 1k and throw it vertical next to the plants. Lot's of bending and tying...little breaking along the way. I'm going to flower the next round of Kushage at about 1 foot.

A few pics for now. Kushage from seed to now.

Wow! Those AK's are tall! I remember my grow with AK47 via SS, was my first real strain after my first run with bagseed. Huhhh...I miss her...

Very nice man! Can't wait to see more!

Thanks all! :D:D:D

Plants are still green... ;) Have some good news and some bad news.

The good news first: I was trimming my AK's last night. Just removing fans that were sitting right on lower buds, not a full trim. As I trimmed each of the three I crunched up some leaves and did the sniff test. Sure as shit, one of them stinks of cherry Ludens. It's remarkable how much it really reminded me of child hood and those Ludens candies..ahem...I mean cough drops. ;)

Now the bad news: FRIGGIN SEEDS!! My Kushage looks like it got hit pretty hard. I can see early seeds forming, and a few are already quite large. Not all buds seems to have been hit, but many were. I'm almost positive it was one of the AK males. They flowered during my 20/4 veg cycle...god dam little bastards. Thought I had caught them in time. I suppose a Kushage/AK cross could be good, but I'll have to watch real close for that nasty auto-flower trait. After seeing this I started searching around and it turns out the AK is known to occasionally do this. Strange thing is I don't see signs of seed in the AK ladies. Time will tell.

Hey..if you don't want them (Kush/AK) I'll take some beanos off your hands! lol..sounds like a good cross to me!

When I grew mine out (years ago) I remember the males did show about a weekor 2 b4 females...smooth sailing once they were pulled... very easy plants to grow and can take a beating!

Some updates!

Everything looks good considering the overcrowding I'm dealing with. Just took 6 cheese plants out of flower so that opens things up a bit. I'll be switching the whole room to vertical tomorrow and adding the next batch of Kushage and AK's (all clones from current run).

This AK has been "vertical" for a couple weeks now. It sits about 20" from a bare 1k. I set that up to get me through until I could redo the room.

Thanks for the good word guys! I'm pretty happy with them so far. I have one AK that just seems to love PM. I run a well controlled environment so I'm concerned this is genetic. It's leaves must make a good home for PM. I have 4 or 5 clones of that pheno going into flower this weekend. If I see so much as a spec, they die! I'm also going to run sulfur a bit here and there as preventative.

i can assure you that if the mother of those clones has pm then the clones will to. its a systemic disease which lives in the host plant and only shows itself in the right conditions.

Thanks who, I've read that as well. Does that mean this particular pheno is done for though? I'm going to run sulfur anyway as I feel it's a worthwile investment in prevention. I guess I'll just wait and see.

Everything else is going well. Switched the room to vertical last night. Now the kushage trees are getting better light - they just couldn't fit under a light anymore. I need to expand the room a bit but that will have to wait. For now, I'll be running 3k vert, likely in cool tubes. Only one in a tube for now.
