Some Rapper Arrested at LAX with Weed

TMZ has learned legendary rapper Kurtis Blow was busted at LAX this morning after a TSA body scanner detected an item in his pocket...a stash of weed.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ ... the body scan detected "an anomaly' in his pants -- yes, we thought that was funny as well. A subsequent pat down revealed pot in his pocket.

Kurtis received a ticket -- standard operating procedure when it's under an ounce -- and went on his merry way.

These are the breaks ... next time Mr. Blow, try the pat down.

kurtis blow is old school as hell...but yeah in california if you have your script you can fly with 8 oz of pot on you....i dont know why he was fined he probably didnt have his paperwork...i never take 8oz but i have taken around a half oz in my carryon luggage with no hassles..vac sealed with a photocopy of my docters rec inside the bag in case TSA opens it up tthey can see it.

Yes Kurtis Blow is old school, and no he doesn't need "street credit" as someone stated earlier, he's already known if rap/hip hop is what you already listen to. I am also in the music and entertainment field and find it funny how the average person thinks an artist need neg. publicity to get anywhere. Not so, there are many successful music entertainers that don't end up in the news or front page when their careers need a "pick up". This would never have even been a story if he was a regular person not a known celebrity, think about it, whens the last time you heard about average joe or jane ending up in the headlines for a small amount of smoke found by a scanner. My point exactly, come on people here, lets think outside the box and stop with the sterotypes. Also I think that genre of music gets enough attention as is good and bad. Take care 1

He was the first rapper to get signed by a major record label in 1980. He's over 50, so he's not a young kid. Even the folk duo, 'They Might Be Giants' referenced him on one of their albums.
