I'd maybe start using zone every watering and definitly tape that shit off or transplant into a better bucket. Good luck

I take it zone is hydrogen peroxide? Moving to new buckets soon.

good way to kill that algae use hydrogen peroxide it kill it and to prevent it i would wrap those buckets with black tape lights are not suppose to touch the root

i had a plant that look exactly like that because the roots were getting light hence "the retarded growing"the pot we had in it was clear and once we wrapped it up no problems anymore

Man dont worry a bit about the algae. It feeds off of the nutes you use, but not enough to harm the plant. If you let it go through the entire harvest MAYBE you could see some ill effects but probably not. It just means that you are providing an environment similar to the outside world, which is a very good thing. The only thing wrong, obviously, is that you are letting light get to the roots.

My first few grows were in 1gal clear milk jugs, and in my 1gal black & white grow bags, I yield almost the same exact amount with the same strain.

If you need some piece of mind, just go buy some black construction paper and make "sleeves" for the containers. Remember to poke a hole where needed. If you dont want to invest in new buckets next grow, just spray paint these black after this harvest.

Also, as a general tip to avoid algae buildup on the surface, always water in ONE spot and as fast as you can. This keeps the entire top layer from getting wet, which promotes algae. Also, it fills the "water table" faster resulting in faster, longer drainage. When your container drains water, it creates a vacuum that pulls air down through the roots which will also keep the algae at bay and aerate the roots nicely.

Best of luck!

Hempies are the way to go. I give one very good reason. You do not need to haul those buckets out from your growtent for nute change like you do not need with soil either.
My DWC plants are prone to get damage everytime I need to change nutes. Which is once in week. Unacceptable when they are bigger.

I plan to pot my Black Widows to hempies from DWC buckets. DWC's are nice when you get room to play.
