Electronic ballasts?

Hey ya know what might fix that overheating/high failure rate?

Fans? LoL. Tell that to everyone who bought junk Future Brite ballasts. Everyone I know who had one had it's fan fail - only to have the ballast immediately fail.

I'm not sticking up for lumatek. I know a lot of peeps who had to return older units due to failure. I've been lucky, but I think it has a lot to do with mine always have been run at 240v.

As much as I don't like to support AN I am interested in those Badass Ballasts since they run at such a low frequency unlike all other electronic ballasts. My 2010 Lumatek 1Ks DO create static on AM radio stations, but more importantly I dont want it ever to be viable for someone to drive through neighborhoods and see who is emitting 50-60k frequencies from their homes.

Everyone I know with NextGens has had flickering issues or decreased yield when ran directly next to a Lumatek of the same wattage.

Funny how different brands can hold a good reputation with one person, but a horrible reputation with another. Makes you wonder how many versions of each brand are floating around out there. (changing internal parts, ect to save a buck)

Does anyone use a chhc-1 with electronic ballasts? The ballasts would be far away but it also says to keep away from the wires that run to your lights. There would be wires in the ceiling going across the room the controller is in. Is this enough to mess with controller?

Thanks,

I'm running NextGen's and I'm very happy with them...

My Lumatek's burnt out two weeks into bloom last run...

To there credit I had the older style and I was given a Full Refund...

Advanced Nutrients makes ballasts now. called bad ass ballast. EVERYONE check them out. they have a 7 year warrentee. which is twice as much as all these other companies.
Since when is 7 twice as much as 5?

Can i be your banker? I can only change out $5 bills.

A lot of the digital ballast warranties are 3 years full and 2 pro-rated, whatever that means. Still not half of 7, but closer.

i thought at least one of the aforementioned companies had a 5 year full warranty, and in any case, a prorated warranty is still a warranty. There are plenty of false claims surrounding AN, i dont think we needed another.

Only reason I was looking into next gen was because they are made by r&m supply in usa. alot of people say quantums are great but they are made in china Im reluctant to spend my money on chinese goods. I think galaxy are made in china too. too bad no german or japanese made ballast

Lumatek all the way....... just say no to fans....

Lumatek all the way....... just say no to fans....

I have been running around 10 Lumateks with Hortilux bulbs (both 1000s and 600s) for the last five years practically non-stop. Had one 1000 fail and melt inside. Received a replacement from the local shop and didn't even buy it there. He said their guarantee doesn't require it and the date of manufacture is on or in it somewhere. I have satelite TV and radios and no trouble. Once, while on ankle home arrest it did jam the bracelet when I was tending the garden
.... Case manager was perplexed because they called me each time to see if I was home. DUI-- will never drink again-- Herb is much safer since I became a patient.

Anyway, stay away from fans. Those fans are cheap little computer fans that malfunction and unlike the closed ballasts can catch fire due to the components being exposed to air. I bought one of the first electronics from Future Brite. The fan failed but luckily when I got home I could smell the heated wires and plastic. I disassemble and found the fan failed. When I first touched it, it blistered my hand. Luckily I alway mount on fire proof backer board up a wall so even if a fire or flood no issue. Replaced the fan for $2.10 after Googled the part number on-line... worked great but never could bring myself to use it again..... lesson learned no fan!

Peace
