Who Knows About Thai?!

Wats good peeps, Im looking for more infos on the compressed weed Ive been tokin for years.
Ive kind of made a trend out of it and its getting more popular due to its cheaper price to skunk and its "working" high thats long lasting.

Im sure you know the stuff I speak of, comes in many grades from shit leaf bog weed to reletavely fresh well handled and grown but compressed sativa buds.
My atempt to describe the smell: piney/incense/foody/meaty/herbal...The shit grade stuff smells more musty than ne thing else and the buzz is weak and burns you out.

I suspect the hi grade stuff is either a highland variety OR its the same stuff grown and handled better which is always a possibility when dealing with cannabis.

It comes wrapped in string sometimes in stick form or bricks.
The string is usually red and yellow but Ive seen green, white and a few others.

Now, Ive been told on 2 occasions by dealers that what they sell is not Thai but African...They call it Thai for the commercial market because of the accosiation of thai with good weed since the 70's and before.

Whatever it is, I like it, I can say that the hi-end stuff brings an uplifting high which IS of a hallucinogenic type in higher doses.
By this I dont mean you are seeing things like mushrooms...
What I mean is the high is more powerfully euphoric, mind bending, long lasting, and gives more charged emotions than most indoor grown hybrid cannabis...

Also it has a spiritual "kick" that is surely lacking in todays modern weed.

Hence my interest in this stuff...

So have any of you got more infos about this stuff or smoked it would be V interested in your thoughts. Cheers.

I haven't had real Thai since the 70's. What you describe sounds like a good sativa that is being labeled "Thai". The Asian strains I smoked during and after the war were incredibly spicy-tasting and the buzz was like a trip. Sadly, most of what I've seen called Thai Stick have been crudely-wrapped schwag-on-a-stick!

Yeah i used to get alot of that so called thai round here ,some would be very leafy and loose with loose seeds in it and other stuff would be obviously compressed weed that had been broken up a bit and had a piece of red thread tied round it and called thai!.

The loose stuff was alright IMO not mega strong like a dutch strain would be but mellow and a nice smooth taste that really lingered in your mouth, plus it was only £20 a Q which which was even better.

Most of the import that i used to see in inner city areas tho was african without doubt ,the bricks used to be wrapped in black plastic and quality would be very low ,lots of seeds a crap taste and vry little buzz .
Then you have the so called yard weed which i very much doubt is from jamaica but is actually just a better quality of african brought over to the UK in small quantities .that stuff was alright quite trippy but way over priced for seeded compressed import , i think that stuff used to sell at around the same price as puka homegrown but i've not hadit for a while .

i remember a uk based IC mag member (was it BH?) growing some of this stuff out-as i recall it went for 15-16wks with no sign of it finishing.
i used to think that this 'thai' was shit-but when i tried it with a low tolerance level i found it quite nice-much as you described-a smooth euphoric soaring sat

I get "thai" occasionally, definate compressed bud around a central stick, comes still wrapped in the classic red string which is nice. Usually has a piney kick to it, but a defninate working buzz, used to get me through a days work on site and not constantly falling over things. Sadly ive never halucinated from it, no matter how much i smoke. When my mate tried it, he said it was a lot like the bud he got in cambodia and thailand so im guessing the stuff here is from eastern origin.

My current project is 3 girls from my hundreds of "thai" seeds, vegged them for 8 weeks on 23/1, on week 8 of 12/12 flower now and their just getting milky, all the pistles are oranged up, gonna flush for 2 weeks and havest, gives me a 2 week dry for xmas day, cant think of a better pressent to myself! And finally get to see how it tastes before it gets compressed! Hopefully i get some halucinogenic bud!

Nice, I think its intense sun that really gives these strains that extra kick, but your grow sounds good let us know how it smokes.

If you wanted to grow some seeds out I reckon they could be a good bet to start on 12/12 straight away. Very Sativa and naturally almost from the equator anyway!

That looks Nice man, fair play. The taste of Thai is unmistakable, although its been a while since ive had the pleasure you never forget, very sweet, musky floral spice, typical Sati. I remember it Darker compared to the Thai import i remember, but it definately looks like Import & from that part of the world i wager. Tye Stick/Thai Stix with the string. One toke & you can tell the diffrence from any african, tastes completely different, more earthy as africans are, we used to get loads of Nigerian compressed whey back when, always prefered the Thai myself.
Does anyone remember Mexican Blue, late 80's early 90's, that was a nice one that used to turn up from time to time, but back then we were spoiled for choice with various forms of nice Hashish, like Red Leb/Blonde too, magical spicy flavour mmmm & nice afghani squidgey, & loads more etc, i went for them before buying weed, unless it was a real nice bit like you have there. Amazing what you can do with a fist full of popcorn buds & a bit of cotton. Yeah very nice mate, brings back memories.

Does anyone remember Mexican Blue, late 80's early 90's, that was a nice one that used to turn up from time to time,

I used to get this one called bluebeard that was about that sort of time dunno if that's the same thing but that was pretty good ,only 1or2 seeds in an 1/8 bag and i remember it was very smooth smoke.

There was a redbeard aswell i think ,that was very nice also and alot better than most of the other "sensi" that was around at that time which hardly gave you buzz and consisted mostly of seeds!.

It was happening before any Red-beard(always bright-orange hairs) that i remember! hah sound!(you remember both) around 1990-+, you got it bro! remember that up untill around the end of 93/4, then it vanished & i never saw it again! Ever! I wonder if anyone can fill in the gaps & give us a little more info on it, that'd be cool!
