Seatac Airport is shut down. A plane skidded in the ice 100 feet.
Interstate 5 is at a stand still.

It is so cold and there is no sign of warming any time soon.
It's pretty f*cking cold down here in Portland as well - supposed to hit the mid-20's tonight.

That should be fun.

Hello desinger. Originally from the PNW here. Relocated to Scandinavia. Now to all you poor souls complaining about the cold, STOP being pussies. You know nothing untill you have lived through one of ours. 4 months of cold, freezing, snow, darkness.......etc. I just giggle when I think about schools shutting because of a few inches of school. That would never happen here. The idiots on the roads when it snows there is down right hilarious though.

It's 18F here right now. Damned cold for this area in general, especially this time of year.

Visited a buddy down in Portland a few years ago, and was really surprised how cold it was! For some reason I expected it to be like Ashland. I'm sure you're not surprised :)

Merry I have been in some pretty cold and pretty hot places. It is all relative.

Seattle is a mess because it don't snow enough for us to be prepared when it does. No reason to call people you don't even know names. A man died on the freeway last night getting out of his car. What kind of site is this?

Thanks all the others for the kind welcome though.

I don't think Merry is actually trying to be a jackass, it just comes across that way :)

What Seattle is experiencing now is nothing near the severity of what I've experienced in other states, but that's no consolation to people getting hurt or killed, and I do have sympathy for them :(

There are a lot of offensive comments and people on the site, but also a lot of tremendously helpful and wonderful people here, and the grow knowledge found here is second to none.

Hope you stick around to see the good parts too :)

well now, it seems it is all relative...so you think us pussies for riding out the artic wind, shivering without power for 15 hours, praying for power to return so the 18* temps dont decimate our clone babies and seedlings?:yoinks:
shoot, i really think i must be then...i'll give it a little more thought after i finish cleaning up the myriad tall pines that just happened to be blown over around the place, and moving all the tree limbs the wind tore from them to the waste pile. i should be well stoked after operating the chainsaw for 6 or 7 hours cutting those firs into bitesized pieces for the fireplace! and as for getting out, it's possible...but getting back up the hill is a bit trickier.:YaRight:

i must be getting old, 21*, a three finger glass of Wild Turkey, a warm fire, a tight blonde, and a twisted bit of the 3rdWoman, still it's getting there that counts!

Well now, if you gotta get old, that's not a bad way to do it (except the cold, of course) :freezing:

I live at a (very) slight elevation about 15 miles from downtown PDX and I checked the thermometer on the back porch this morning @ 5:00 AM and it registered 13F - lovely.

Thankfully I finished insulating and hanging drywall in the garage this past summer. As things are turning out it was probably a good investment.

Even my dogs didn't want to go out this morning for their daily walk. That's the highlight of their day.

Where's the rain? It's November damnit!

LOL

CC I'm sure things will get back to normal for you there soon..whatever normal is lol. I'm moving out that way in the spring and I promise I won't bring any Michigan weather with me.

You'll really like living in Oregon which has a 40+ history of growing world class cannabis west of the Cascade Mountain Range.

"The People's Republic of Oregon" and all! LOL

Welcome!

You know I photographed some Animita Mascuria (the big red ones with the white spots) a few days before the snow. I don't eat them, I just wanted to photograph them. I found them in West Seattle not to far from Alkai Beach. I was sort of surprised the nobody picked them. They had been there for quite awhile. I doubt they are there now. It was a cold spell for sure. A lot of my flowers died in the yard this week.
