A great seedling mix to try next time is equal parts peat, perlite, coco, and worm castings. That's it, nothing else. Start in 2-quart pots under t5 flouros 24/0 room temp 80+ and at about day 15 you'll have tap roots out the bottoms and will need to up-pot into 1 or 2 gals. Just add water, no nutrients for the first 15 days. Then after up-potting start your nutrient program or even better already have your dry nutrients mixed into your up-pot mix.

These are 11 days from seed:

Haha I really appreciate the advice from everyone but I believe people are still looking at my first couple posts and missed the one were I said they are transplanted and doing much better. Some had more roots than others, but all had nice white root structures that were filling up the bottom of the cups.

I'm not 100% sure but I think that maybe in the beginning I was overwatering, weakening the plants and not getting their roots enough oxygen, then I traded one problem for another and tried to fertilize the weakened plants, burning them, then misdiagnosing the burn for a deficiency, so I kept fertilizing them.

Whichever it was, I am keeping my sticky fingers off those nutes, and only watering when the soil is thoroughly dried, I'll post some pics at lights on so you guys can see their progress.

Edit- A couple people have asked and I keep forgetting to answer; yes there are/where holes in the bottom of the cups, and they were even on little cut pieces of PVC to keep them elevated off of the runoff water.

Thanks.

You will learn over time that less is so very much more. this attiude above will get you extremely far in soil and on the path to righteous nugget. If you want to ply big time with nutes and really hold the life or death of a plant in your hands try hydro. Soil while boring, is hard to fuck up when you do nothing but water when they need it!! i wish you luck man. as a noob you have made some VERY good decisions so far!

Well this place just gets better every day lol

1st please read the thread before you post up smart ass comments like the bad advice fairy !!!!!
The seedlings in question were in 16oz red cups full of
50%happyfrog soil and 50%perilite not FFOf so there really is no food in happyfrog grown with it a few 100 times .

2nd what do you do to a plant that has been over watered ????? Oh yea,.............. you feed it !!!!!!

Glad all the self proclaimed gurus have come out to set things right !!!
Peace

i stand by my advice.

He transplanted into FFOF after a good flush to get rid of all the grow big and bloom he fed them. there is no reason to flame me homie. if you want to start a debate, then call out my science. as im about to do to you.

as far as feeding an over watered plant to "help it".... with more nutrients and water? really. drowning the roots with more water and nutrients is going to help an over watered plant?

ive grown with HF and FFOF as well and ill tell you a couple things ive learned in the 100s of times ive used it. HF has more then enough nutrients even cut 50% with perlite to sustain a seedling at 22 days. there is not one doubt in my mind about that. take it to the bank and deposit it.

another shred of advice. a cure for an over watered plant is to STOP WATERING IT. DON'T ADD NUTES! dont do anything. Just leave it alone.

Look I'm not here to get into a pissing match with anyone but i don't do well with smart ass comments if you disagree or think its bad advice then say i feel this is bad advice!( please and thankyou )
If i took it wrong or personally then I'm sorry !
If i didn't and I pissed you off then we are even .

And I stand by my advice especially to a new grower !

Why trans plant ? More soil will help in balancing the moisture and pulling it away from the roots .

why feed it when it is already waterlogged ? sounds funny don't it !(ready available ) Nutrients and minerals are needed to help the plant with stress and to start feeding again .It also lowers the ph in a stagnate root zone .

As to debating science sorry don't feel like a Google war it proves nothing !!!

as for bad advice
just because you can grow big plants in small cups don't mean you should !

AsbestosToast sorry for all this and I hope your girls get better soon !

As for me I will return to the shadows as the majority of old growers do here and leave it too the kids !!!:tiphat:

Peace

I want to thank both of you guys, SouthernSmoker and hazydreams for sticking through this thread and helping me out so much, it wouldn't be an internet forum if people didn't get heated once in a while, as long as everyone smokes a bowl in the end and lets it be, and SouthernSmoker, I sure hope you don't return to the shadows, people like me, and plants like mine, are counting on you guys!

Lets get some good vibes in here with a progress shot!

Here are the girls about a week ago, sad, and dejected.

and here they are now.

They don't look 100%, but they are definitely improving. I will probably just let this thread fade in to the ether soon, if they keep progressing like this.

Thanks again to everyone who posted!
