10x10 vert room layout?

i have 4 big chronic plants that have been vegging for 3 months iv been topping them into a 6 foot bush.

as of now i have 4 600 watt lights in cool tubes and would like to put the 600's in the corners and a 1000 inthe center of the room.

the room is 10 feet long x 10 feet wide and 8 feet high.

i have to use cool tubes becuase its really hot and humid outside. the plants are in coco. but i would really like to swap over to a under current system.

what do yall think?

Hey Mr C.........The light placement in your diagram`s dead on with the "X" pattern , but the plants should be in a "Diamond" pattern so each 1 gets blasted by 3 lights at all times.......

BT.........with plants that big already still in veg , God only knows how big they`ll be by end of stretch , so I`d definitely suggest 1000`s in the corners and MH in the middle for better color spectrum and minimum 50 watts per sq ft ta harden those nugs up in late flower...........

Make sure you keep the insides of the plants cleaned out for proper airflow and lumen absorption.........

I don`t agree with the cooltubes that suck lumens , but rather overkill a/c for environment control.......Put muffin fans under those bare bulbs and use a large exhaust inline fan/scrubber combo plugged into thermostats ta suck heat and stank out the room periodically/as needed.......My 2 cents......

Good luck......DHF.......

X=light
O= plant

X O X
O X O
X O X

Use 5 1000w lights..... it's gonna make a big difference in final yield/quality....

3400w will do it but 5k would be much better for huge plants....

Even with 5kw you shouldn't expect more than 1lb per plant.... of course more is possible with everything dialed, but 1lb per seems to be average for these setups...

Diamonds are plants , and X`s are lights BT........Thanks 250.......

Ya`ll needta go look at Mr Dizzle and Easypleasie`s setups over the farm........When all the MPB`s started takin a shit and crops were droppin left and right from root rot , Jalisco Kid reminded everyone about Noone and Acry4help`s old "Chow mix" of coco and hydroton growin 3 lb + plants and Mr D and EP adapted em to Hempy type setups with bigass bottom containers........

The more indica dominant strains /varieties take several weeks of vegtime , but yields are waaaay over 1 lb per plant.....

Anyways.....Big plants are a headache from HELL if you`re not readyta deal with holdin em up after the flip...... Staple chickenwire to the ceilings and yas can open the plants up for better lumen absorption and airflow , while keepin em tied up from snappin under their own weight......

Good luck...DHF....:ying:...

Don't think you could transfer such a big plant from coco to an undercurrent.

I think he was talkin bout UC`s next run after this coco run Cyat , at least I certainly hope so....

The "chow mix" Hempy`s seem ta be pumpin out big plants with lil to no probs usin several weeks vegtime........

Peace......DHF.......

iv got the 4 big plants in 5 gallon coco buckets but how big should i use for flowering? yall think maybe i can hit 3 lbs with say 8 weeks veg 10 gallon coco pots drain to waste.
the strain is chronic.

Do you have experience with the cool tubes "sucking lumens"?

I'm just curious.. I have no first hand experience but research shows only 2-3% loss with glass. Just wondering as I know you are very experienced.
Thank you

Yeah Steve.....the only time in 15 yrs inside using anything but bare bulbs was with 6 cooltubes that came with a pkg deal from MDHydro on my ebb and flow buckets.........

Ran 3 bulbs each in 2 different rooms with 2 more rooms bare bulbed as usual and the results were pitiful at best compared to the bare bulb rooms.......

No footprint/light spread for shit and minimum 25% yield decrease across the board at end of cycle , so that 2-3% supposed decrease of lumen dispersal from the glass enclosures you`ve been misinformed on is horseshit ........

All the ducting hanging down and around the plants was just as much of a problem stealing/blocking lumens from the plants as the tubes themselves were...

Bare bulbs are WAAAAY easier to cool than with reflectors that store heat and keep it in the rooms for the a/c`s and fans to take care of and do away with making the equipment work harder........

After the runs were over I put those pieces of shit on my fence and used em for target practice and hung my bare bulbs again like I should`ve in the first place.......Need I say more ?......

Take care...DHF........

i have an 8x8 room, and I was thinking about doing the same thing but with 600's. I think It would probably be the best way to use my whole space and still be able to walk around. Watering 4 huge plants in coco would be much easier than filling the room with a hydro setup. Shit its hard enough with 1 4x8 in there already.

DHF- How would you design an 8x8 the ceilings are around 6' 5". I know you have a ton of experience with the Krusty style. Much respect to you, you are one of the people I respect most on this site.

The system really works better with a 1KW MH in the middle MDK , and with an 8' x 8' room , you`d be right in the sweet spot of lil over 50 watts per sq ft......

Getchas some of those blumat "maxi" sensors for a bulletproof way of feedin big bitches , and maybe # 10 smartpots if yas wanna veg em bigger before the flip.......

With lower ceilings just means you`ll haveta run your strain first ta see how much it stretches after flip ta know how long ta veg next time for proper height and width for 4 plants without em growin into each other and/or hittin the lights and ceiling....

Plants don`t grow the same with bare bulbs as they do under horizontal reflectors , so get ready for buncha sideways bushiness ta keep cleaned out on the insides for proper airflow and lumen penetration......

Gotta stay on top of environment with big plants cuz once dialed they sweat like a mufuker and humidity will go off the charts if not controlled in late flower.......

Lower ceilings means more heat so a/c will have ta be up ta snuff as well........

Take care...DHF....

thanks man that helps alot. I have alot of thinking to do before I commit to something like that. I just have 2kw in there right now, but I was also thinking about running 2 rows of 2 600's on light rails.

stony419 did some serious work that way. And when I was watering tonight I was thinking bout buying blumats for the next run.

or I could do a 4kw vertical and put the shelves on the walls. So many choices. I think vert would be awesome if I could still move around inside.....

thanks again

I am in the process of setting up a friends place with a 10 by 10 sealed room with this setup 4 600 hps in the corners and the 1000W MH in the center , with 4 plants in 20 gallon totes , rocking purple kush with co2 also , water cooled a/c.
I hoping to get 1 per plant , just pre-vegging right now and building room, will post pick of this grow once it gets going......

Good luck teemu.......make sure to run higher room temps and elevated ppm`s for the CO2 to truly benefit the plants.........Lotta folks don`t understand actually HOW to use CO2 ta increase yields........

70% humidity all the way through end of stretch , then as low as you can get it in mid-late flower when they`re drinkin and swellin like mofo`s.....Never could get mine below 50-55% but it was enough ta stave off any nasties like pm and mold.......

Take care........DHF....

I knew that they liked it @ high temps like 85 with gas but i usually run 60% during veg , and drop it to like 50 55 % when i start to flower, you think they like it better @ higher humidity maybe I try it out thnx DHF
Peace TS
