man, I get a different take on this after every new lab report. Usually it is the cbd/cbn that is the Indica stone & thc/thca is the Sativa high. I don't know how all this (which has been reported by labs) has gotten turned around. I've heard said on here lately that the higher thc content results in the more indica couchlock stone...rubbish! Do a 'complete research on it' & ignore the most current data results.

I've been away from the 'designer strains' for decades
and when I came back to them as a new CG , I noticed
they were missing something and way different than what
we had 25 years ago. I figure it's the CBD.

Many patients are telling me the meds are way different
and the high THC is producing dysphoria (the opposite of euphoria)

Glad they discovered the CBD issue & the terpenoid influence
may be a part also. Other aspects of the medicine
will be defined as we progress.

EDIT: I'm pretty sure the stuff we got in the 60's had CBD....

December 2010 High Times has Harlequin as 'medical strain of the month'
Pg.102
at about 5-8% CBD

Harborside has many strains over 10%.........

so now we have the battle of the CBD strains........

Cannatonic is in Oct. 2010 High Times.....

Resin has been on top of there CBD game for a while ..They have 2 new strains coming out focused on CBD levels ..If i have the space i might run them..I dont think there out yet but i remember him stating that they had high CBD levels

It's probably been said but letting your plants flower longer till the trichs are like 80% amber will increase CBD count in any strain.....

I was gifted a cut of catalyst, a high cbd strain. it kills pain instantly (seemingly) and will kill any head one may have instantly. i am currently making it into a holy shit night concoction, since it kills head and pain. seems like a likely candidate for sleep med....also topical.

good video on THC & Cannabidiol. I'm discovering
why the new med's are different than the 'old dayz'.....

Intravenous THC and cannabidiol experiment

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T2cAFRAX3Gs

Excellent video, people are too quick to dismiss that. Ask any old timer what they remember about smoking weed back in the day and her second reaction is the one they remember, big grins, can't stop laughing etc etc.

Modern cannabis hybrids are way out of balance.

I just received and sowed some Parvati, Mazar-I-Sharif and some bonus Kerala

Anyone interested in high CBD might want to try out the Parvati and the Mazar. (The Kerala perhaps not so much :) )

I think the landraces like these are the place to start if you're looking for seeds you can grow at home. Forget Harbourside and others unless you live there or can get a clone you're out of luck and they have no incentive to test seeds that are commonly available world-wide for the rest of us, nor do I expect they would ever want to as it would hurt their business after all.

I'll report back if and when I get something I can smoke out of these. If I get that heavy body stone and that euphoric feeling where I can't stop laughing / grinning high like I remember I'm going to chalk it up to high CBD.

So far the best I've come up with that I've grown out of 8 different strains I've tried is Big Bang which definitely feels like it's higher in CBD than other strains I've been trying but is definitely not the one yet.

Here is a "to check into" list I've been pasting into from published CBD levels by the growers and stuff I came across on various boards that seemed solid. Note that some of the seed places actually publish a cbd ratio and where they have I've calculated the ratio of thc:cbd which I think is most helpful for what we are after in this thread:

-------------------------------------
Parvati
-----------------------------
Parvati is an intensely resinous and hashy flavoured strain from the famed Parvati growing region. Parvati produces a naturally soft and oily black charas with a classic rich aroma. Hand-rubbing of this strain begins in mid-October and finishes in the first week or two of November. Typically grown on mountain slopes at around 3000m - 3500m, this Parvati variety has an easygoing smoking high of moderate potency. Parvati is thought to have a high CBD content with medical potential and is recommend to those looking for something traditional and flavoursome without the angst and unease of some more modern Western varieties.

It s a variety very stable (almost 100% indica) and p and , grows wild in the valleys of Armu Darya , river that border with (north of Afganistan). Another pure landrace indica

Mazar-i-Sharif
--------------
Region: Hindu Kush
Strain: Mazar-i-Sharif
Genetics: Pure North Afghan Charas Cultivar
Latitude: 36°N
Regional Maturation: October to November
Height: 2 - 4 meters in natural outdoor environment in Mazar-i-Sharif.
Yield: 1kg to 2kg of dried flowers in natural outdoor environment
Characteristics: potent wide leaved "giant indica" with big resin production and massive yields
Grow Type: Outdoor, Greenhouse, or Indoor (requires experience)

This is the famous "giant indica" Mazar-i-Sharif, a pure Afghani with great potency, delicious flavours, and incredible yields.

For many this line gives the quintessential stone: a decadently mellow high that combines intense physical relaxation with a blissful and illuminating head high.

The lowland oasis towns of Balkh and Mazar-i-Sharif in the far north of Afghanistan, just beyond the Hindu Kush mountains, have been famous among Westerners since the days of the Hippy Trail for "Shirak-i-Mazar" - "Milk of Mazar" - the greatest hashish in the world. Few in the West have been lucky enough to experience the real thing. The best Mazar-i-Sharif sieved charas has a rich hashy aroma with complex scents like juniper and orange - a whole different thing from third rate border hash.

Real Mazar-i-Sharif plants have very good potency, and killer specimens are there for the finding. Resin production is excellent, and yields are truly immense. Certain chemotypes are very likely to be high in CBD, a cannabinoid known to be of great medicinal value.

This line has been described by old hands as just like the Afghan genetics brought back to the West during the days of the Hippy Trail. One pleased customer described his experience with this Mazar as "like being transported back to the '70s".

As with the old Afghan strains, phenotypes are quite variable and some expressions are well suited for indoor cultivation. Scrog grows are highly recommended and can give yields of well over 7 ounce per plant indoors!

[Ed: A post I came across but since have lost the source and don't know who to attribute it to]

"For the people on this thread who are looking for strains with a high CBD-content, Chinese varieties from the Yunnan region are the best according to Sam Skunkman. He has tested in the past several strains from Yunnan and found there were some pretty high in CBD, THCV or CBC, but low in THC.This is also the reason i grow them as well."
----------------------------------------------------------

That's all the info I've collected so far but it would be nice if people could affirm any of these to grow out actual high cbd plants.

Hopefully this info will be helpful to others.

What's interesting also is that many IC -ers love high THC
& she abhors
the feeling she gets from the pure THC injection.

I wonder if the intraveneous is part of that......

Personally I think there is a whole generation who could watch a Cheech and Chong movie now and not understand why they're laughing so much.

A potent sativa has it's place when you want a racy high and to get things done, but after work at the end of the day I just want to sit back and feel mellow and comfortable and above all happy and that's what I'm looking for.

A lot of people have mocked that lady's reaction and unfairly I think because they forget what it was like when they were less experienced and ultra sensitive to thc.

You can't take an average person with little to no experience with cannabis and give them a high dosage and not expect a very strong reaction.

I know a person who never takes more than two tokes at a time and gets just as high as everyone else because they have paced themselves that way for years.

Maybe my memory is not so great but the stuff I remember smoking way back in the day you could smoke as much as you could afford to and there was never any feelings of anxiety or raciness.

smokers and they got the biggest giggles & laughs;
which made me chuckle . But I was not getting the same
effects as them.....

de145 I am one of those sensative peeps. I don't intend to place myself there, I just get twice as high as any of my compadres thus have to use very little.
The very reason I refrain from doing smoke reports, I don't feel mine are a good reprensation of the true facts for the populous. I give my weed to Med patients free and ask only for a report in return. I can tell the differance between Indica and Sativa though...boy can I! I prefer Sativa..I still laugh at Cheech and Chong as well..Big Smiles..DD

Maybe be something to DJ's Blueberry.. "ie" the Thai possibly..
most of the X's ive done the BlueB's seems to boost CBD's
picture.php

i think clues maybe be hidden in the Pre Hash Plant day Strains "ie" pre 79 !

Nice report!

I would have a few questions for that company if I were you.

They don't distinguish CBC content. According to a good source, all of harborside's cbd results are bunk because they are using GCMS and cbc and cbd overlap on those.

rm3 is using hplc and so should be able to distinguish, however they seem to not be chemists (in the about us section).... so I'd
double check with someone trained in chemistry before I'd believe them 100%.

I remember herb that would get me high for hours. I thought maybe weed used to be stronger cause I was young, but I honestly can't remember the last time I got cottonmouth.
Super trippy , gut busting 5 hour perma grin weed . The current strains of fruity weed and kushes seem weaker, I don't know , maybe I'm high , or are they lacking cbds?

I think the mystery may be solved when we try some high CBD strains,
It may open a few eyes (no pun intended)........
