thanks doc, for some reason i thought plants from seed had to be a certain age (2 months) before you could clone them. live and learn! Rep 4 u!

FME yes. If you truly want your house to smell neutral you need a scrubber. In my case, 4 @ 6" tall moms in a tiny cab in my living room gave off a small amount of odor after the plants matured. Probably nobody else would notice but I did and I am very careful about my grow. Even early on there was a small odor. Not so much a weed smell, but the smell of something growing. Also, using organic soils, I noticed a distinct smell every time I potted something that would last in the cab for a few days. Carbon filters are very cheap insurance and piece of mind. Many diy threads around here to help you build one... all air passes through a carbon bed, it isn't rocket science! The neutral carbon smell isn't totally natural either so if you are a REAL stickler you may want to try typical air fresheners and candles as well. Bounce makes a fabric softener bar that attaches to the inside of your dryer and lasts for months in your dryer. I use one of those broken into large chunks at the exhaust point and it ads just a tiny touch of freshness and lasts for months. They seem to be heat activated and I'm unsure of the chemicals so keep it outside your grow at a point where the exhaust is warm.

Why did you completely ignore this guy's questions DrBuds? You answered all other questions around that one, so I am left wondering what kinda tutorial is this if there is no explanation on how to get plants to look like that... You just post pics of a ton of little plants and no explanation on how to shape the plants. I'm wondering the same thing Dr. Jones asked. Do you just keep topping all new growth so the plant stays small?
i've lurked most of your threads dr. bud and i have to thank you for the info you have uploaded in spite of the opposition you have encountered...many of us would have just caved and left never to return. you are very creative and thank you for your contribution, for me its always seems to be very timely. peace brudda

It appears from the photos that you have posted that you are simply taking cuts whenever they are available and not necessarily cutting to form the plant into a particular shape.quote]

That said, he also is a true believer in adapting, so if you wanna do what the good doc does, adapt ! If you want your mom to have a particular shape, make it be so.
Mind you, revegging a flowered plant will leave you with a mother bush.
Everyone seems to want to know how to really Bonsai a Mother plant for the long term....
I have Several new strains to make Mums from so I will take some Pic's along the way.
And try to put some words to it.....
We will do some Males for "Safe Keeping" in 3oz cups
Mothers of a ICMager's Seeds in 16oz bottles and 4" pots
Mothers of H3ad's Geishas in 16oz bottles and 4" Pots
All mothers will be UNDER 6"s tall
With 50-60 tops when we are done.
They will also have cuts taken from them along the way...They are Mothers after all

I tried so hard to make this work. It seemed I was haveing to replant and trim the roots evey few weeks or so. I feed the very little nuts but they were under a lot of light. Im not sure what I was doing wrong, but I do want it to work because it would be nice to have a few different strains. Heres a few pics.

I love your work DrBud. I have lurked around your threads for a while and have modeled my current flower box and hopefully soon mother box after your SOG methods..
I would like to use this method to keep a large amount of strains in my 1.25 sqft mother box over a period of years in these smaller cups... How often are you trimming the roots for these mums? Is there a hard and fast rule of thumb that you use when trimming roots in any sized container?

What about the plant or who is "telling" you that you have to transplant/trim the roots so often? I have mother in a roughly half gal container, a little less in actuality, and she has been rocking for ~4 months so far. I plan on going at least 5-6 months before transplanting and trimming the roots.
