My first grow/jounal (MK-Ultra!)

Hey everyone, this is my first post here and I'd like to get right down to business! My good friend NorthernKronic introduced me to these boards and I'm happy to be here!

So some background:
A few months ago a friend gave me a healthy mother MK-Ultra plant to get me started. After a few cloning mishaps and changes of location, I present to you my setup!

She (and 10 cuttings) are currently sitting under a 400w MH Blockbuster. Mom is fed with a special mother plant solution and a drop or two of superthrive from time to time. The rest are being fed with General Hydroponics Grow/Micro/Bloom and a few extra supplements from the flora series.

I plan on topping the young ones very soon and then transplanting them into 5 gallon smart pots. Mother will also eventually be trimmed up and put into a 10 gal smart pot for flowering.

As you can see, the Flowering room is a work in progress; 4-400w lamps will be hanging in there shortly.

What are the dimensions of your room and what do you plan on using for air circulation/odor control. I have a similar sized space and am not 100% locked into anything yet so still trying to see what other people are up to. Also curious as to what motivated the 4-400W MH decision. In regards to smart pots, they seem to have a much more significant impact when used in veg vs. flower. This is not to say that you shouldn't use them in flower or that they are harmful, just something to consider for next time. You can also pot directly into a much larger pot when going into a smart pot vs. a normal pot - this means you could potentially pot directly into the pot you will end up flowering in.

Mom just went into her new smart pot tonight.

Statusquo - as for the lights, I bought my friend's old veg setup recently and that's what I've got to work with. He hooked up a good deal IMO and it was a good opportunity to fill the space we have. I plan on putting in HPS conversion bulbs for the flower room.
Anyway, the flowering space is about 12 feet deep 5.5 ft wide and the veg space is 12 ft by maybe 4. (roughly, I never really measured the space when putting up the wall)
I plan on getting some sort of blower and carbon filter soon. Gotta hang those lights and go from there.

Teemu - I definitely plan on doing some intense training when I flip that mama.

Nice, you got more square footage than I do and another chamber to work with which is definitely a huge plus. I'm thinking about getting a tent (possibly two) to run in the garage for mothers/veg.

What's your height in the flower room? Trying to get a feel for the volume ^_^ Can you be a bit more specific in regards to ventilation? What kind of fan/how much CFM?

Lastly, what kind of training do you implement?

Thanks for answering all the questions and good luck! Looks like fun You have experience with this size grow before? I'm assuming you're not new to growing in general just wondering where most of your experience is.

Status - the height of both rooms is about 8 ft (not counting a suspended tile ceiling). Not sure about the equipment yet, I have to meet with a buddy who's going to help me go through my options.
As far as training, maybe I didn't use the correct term per se, but when the mom is in flower she'll be tied all over the place to spread her out and get light on all those beautiful branches.

Just topped the small ones and pulled the little clones out of the aero the other day. Also made great progress on the flowering room, just needs ventilation and electrical! (pic of room coming soon).

So heres an update:
I decided to run 3 lights in the flower room and 2 in veg, as I want the vegging plants to get nice and big before putting them into flower.

The flower room is almost ready, just needs the ventilation work which will be finished up this week hopefully.

Nice looking plants man! Good luck on the grow, it doesn't look like you need it though!!

I grew MK-Ultra a few years back, I love that strain. I will be interested in how things go for you and what your pheno is. Mine was almost identical to the pics at T.H. Seeds website. It only harvested about 1 lb/1000W but it was incredible smoke very potent and piney and everything one wants.

I wish I still had the strain, but the progeny lives on...

Anyway, I haven't budded this pheno out myself, but I have smoked plenty of the mother's previous batches of which a friend grew out. I never caught a piney fragrance actually, I'd call this one more of a skunky cotton candy pheno. I absolutely love it!

Hey man lookin Great, You did your due diligence in preparing for the grow. Make sure to get the ventilation going before you get too deep into flower to avoid problems. Can't wait to try your MK, I am pumped! and I hope you enjoy the Bluemoonshine!

Update 12/8/2010

My flower room is complete!
1 x 400w Eye Hortilux HPS Galaxy ballast
1 x 400w MH active air-cooled ballast
1 x 440 CFM inline fan
1 x Carbon filter (on the way)
(and yes, that is a dry-erase board on the left wall!)


Mother was taking up half of my veg space, so she was cut up for clones + trimmed + pinched + bent in preparation for flowering.

4 days into flower, the little ones are already beginning to stretch.

Hey everyone!

Making progress and I wanted to post up!
I've added another 440CFM blower and a Phresh carbon filter so my operation is officially complete!!!!

< veg is only 1 400w MH at the moment, getting the remaining MK Ultras into 5 gal smart pots for their extended veg. Letting these girls get nice and big before they make the journey to the flower room. Once I have some more babies popping up, the other light will be back in business.

Mother MK + 10 of her offspring are 11 days into flowering, and starting to show a few fuzzy white hairs. When plucking unwanted fan leaves and moving the mother's nodes around, I noticed she's beginning to smell and she's getting greasy (in a good way!!!)

Last week I also acquired a few new strains to play with:

DJ Short's Blue Moonshine


BOGBubble (a bit stunted from some sort of nutrient exposure, but starting to perk up again.)

Super Silver Haze

Dude... Fuck yea. Setup is looking great my friend! And holywow, that mom is HUGE! I remember when I did trees that size underneath 400's. Had a blockhead mom that just turned into a GIANT. But def worth the time/annoyance lol.

New babies look to be taking to the new spot well. Really cant wait to see what u can do with those three new strains, let alone the MK. Anyway, all is looking as it should, keep up the hard work. If u need to get at me, u know where I am. Holler at cha boi!
