Anybody else a barterer by nature?

Every instance I've seen, the person offering the bud most likely offered up more a higher value of bud than if they had just paid cash.

For instance, 1/4# for a job. Let's say you get $1,000 for that 1/4# normally. Now you've got to ask yourself, is that job worth $1,000 (perhaps maybe $900, since you don't have to sell it separately)? By paying cash, you get charged the exact amount instead of always seeming to over-pay, and there's never any confusion as to who got the best of that deal. By paying cash, it also gives you a much wider choice of who to get that product/service from, rather than just a slimmer selection of stoners that happen to have what you need.

Every time you pay in bud, the person receiving it will always instantly, automatically de-value / under-value it compared to if they were simply buying that bud. For some reason, if you're a grower, it's suddenly a much more free commodity that's not worth as much. They just see it as some shit that came "free" to you.

Never barter bud unless you KNOW you are getting the best of it. Almost never works out to your favor.

Thats the point, you're paying in something that is free to you guy... most often bartered herb is extra, not what people were planning to make a living off of. most people that barter in weed have a plethora of it and can spare to make someone's day by paying in it.

and you're forgetting a fundamental rule of economics. Trade and commodities are based on demand and buyer satisfaction. in a large majority of transactions that take place in any given market, the transaction occurs because both parties feel they are benefitting. whether they actually are or not is subjective I suppose.

i just traded a zip and a half for a quad core gaming computer.. fully decked out.. it has an ugly tower but is fast as hell!

I've also traded weed for; all kinds of ipods. digital camera.. plenty skateboards. new kicks. beer. car work. car parts..

I too have and continue to trade for various items, sometimes i get lucky and come up with the speakers in the truck... only traded them a quarter of popcorn two kicker cvx 12's. I would say Im more selective on what I try and barter for.

In college I had a room mate that would take food/beers and leave nugs in their place. There was never a set conversion system in place, but if he took something he left me some in return. I started doing the same and it lasted all through college.

When I quit growing, I let my mentor borrow my 1k and 400 watt lights for the promise of 1/2 oz of sour diesel (still need to get that lol)

This isnt REALLY the same, but when I wanted to buy my lights I went to my old dealer and offered him my first 4 oz in return for borrowing 400 dollars. It took like 12 weeks to pay him back but he was REALLY happy.

When times are tough for the wife and I, I'll offer to do ALL the chores (dishes, laundry and walking the 2 mile round trip to the grocery alone) in exchange for letting me buy a 50 sack. I love her so much!
