Every instance I've seen, the person offering the bud most likely offered up more a higher value of bud than if they had just paid cash.
For instance, 1/4# for a job. Let's say you get $1,000 for that 1/4# normally. Now you've got to ask yourself, is that job worth $1,000 (perhaps maybe $900, since you don't have to sell it separately)? By paying cash, you get charged the exact amount instead of always seeming to over-pay, and there's never any confusion as to who got the best of that deal. By paying cash, it also gives you a much wider choice of who to get that product/service from, rather than just a slimmer selection of stoners that happen to have what you need.
Every time you pay in bud, the person receiving it will always instantly, automatically de-value / under-value it compared to if they were simply buying that bud. For some reason, if you're a grower, it's suddenly a much more free commodity that's not worth as much. They just see it as some shit that came "free" to you.
Never barter bud unless you KNOW you are getting the best of it. Almost never works out to your favor.
