Dog Ate VERY Potent Pot Brownie!!!!

The classic mess-up I know.. I was leaving to bring a few very potent cannabutter-prepared brownies and as I was leaving the house, my little dog darted out the door.. I set the brownies down on a bench inside my house and ran out after him and caught him in a few seconds..

Came back in the house to find the tupperware bin of brownies moved to the kitchen with the one strongest brownie on top (SMOTHERED with cannabutter on top and cooked in also, triple strength!!) was missing!! I blamed my roomie for steeling it since it was moved and he denied it and said he found it knocked over next to my big 10 year old 50 lb. pitbull/boxer breed so he moved it. Roomie doesn't smoke and he loves the dog so I didn't tell them they were pot brownies but he's worried regardless...


ANYWAYS, I went to my friends house for about an hour and a half, told him how my roomie stole my triple-strength cannabutter pot brownie I saved for him, blazed, at the other edibles, and went home.

SO I get home to find my 50lb. pitbull/boxer completely blazed, scared, immobile, and totally confused.. I feel bad cause I yelled at her for the first time in years when I left in case she did eat the brownie, which I know by now, she did.
....My poor dog flinches everytime I go to pet her or whenever anything (a wall, chair) comes within 4 feet of her nose, keeps looking around in a confused stare, can't move at all, and when she does she hops around all retarded and scared, and I can tell she's totally tripping out VERYYYYY hard!! She's not happy at all and I feel so bad!!


I know she'll probably be ok. I figure just try to give her water/food and turn on some "Dark Side of the Moon" for her and let her sleep it off or ride it out.. She's eaten a shitload of chocolate before but I shouldn't be worried about the brownie should I? Or taking her to the vet??


I just feel so bad cause I can tell she's reallllly tripping hard from the brownie and she doesn't know why or what's going on and she's so scared and confused, and dirorientated/messed-up/tripping/immobile/wobbly at the same time..
I love this dog so much she's the best dog I've ever had and so well trained and was abused as a pup so she was always scared as it is and now she's so scared and confused, I just want to comfort her and help her through this!! I wish she could enjoy it like I would

Eat a couple yourself and laugh your ass off as the dog keeps trying to shake that wierd feeling he has in his skin. I would suggest giving the dog some food as it will slow down the buzz as it does with us. Something real tasty that they will eat fast and without hesitation. Later on a beer to mellow out the buzz.

Sounds like a cute dog, based on the lineage.

The beer sounds like some potentially good relief, perhaps a little risky, if you take that route I'd recommend a half can at the most.

If your dog will let you, I'd try giving her a massage. If she's comfortable with that you should be able to calm her down and relieve her doggy anxiety.

Hey man. I'm telling you right now, leave the dog be.

Don't give the dog attention. Leave some water/food out for your dog and do your best to avoid looking at your dog or even taking notice that she is there.

This is something that can scar the dog forever. I had a pitbull that submissively urinated, and once he stopped he couldnt stop.. the only way to fix this problem is COMPLETELY ignore it.

All you can do at this point is let the dog ride it out... Its like a roller coaster, and she's gonna have to ride it out to the end.

I wont harp on this or get mad at you for leaving them accessible to the dog, but please, please be very careful with your animals and edibles.

I have a friend whose dog got a hold of a fresh batch of cookies (like 7 of them) and the dog is happy as can be but she hasn't been the same since.

I wish you and your dog the best of luck, and like I said, try to ignore the dog!! I know its hard, but dont greet it, nothing.. Just let the talk ride it out and avoid giving her attention.

Food and water is all she needs for now.

My 6 year old Pit ate a really potent cookie once and was demonstrating the same symptoms your little girl currently is. Flinching when you go to pet her, looking around all confused. She will be ok, make sure she has lots of water handy, she will get dehydrated during this time and she will want it almost for certain, dip her nose in her water bowl even and she will start drinking. This will help a lot, and as silly as it founds feed her if she will eat. When I get too baked I just eat it off, so the same thing might help a little bit.

Other than those two things, just cuddle and pet her, make her as comfortable as possible until she goes to sleep for the night. Don't be surprised if she is still a little foggy in the morning, mine was a little off for a few days. Good luck, hit me with a PM if you need anything else, use to have a good friend who was a vet tech and gave me lots of good advise.

Theobromine is the chemical in chocolate thats bad for dogs. Causes liver damage and or death, that depends on the %of cocao in the chocolate, amount eaten, age and size of the dog. Generally it is not good for dogs to eat chocolate it builds up in the dog as I under stand it. My Standard Poodle ate a pan of regular brownies, when he was about 6 months old, I gave him a teaspoon of hydrogen peroxide to make him puke it up, Vet said it saved his life. I don,t let either of the dogs near chocolate even if the dane wheighs 140 lbs.

THanks for the advice guys!! I was more worried about the chocolate, but felt really bad about her tripping so hard.. Right now she will not move, hardly even to lift her head. She seems more chilled out and not as flinchy, and I got her to eat a few small bites of ham, but nothing else. She won't drink any water I'm sure she will if she needs to. It scared me when one of you said their dog was never the same after the THC dose. I love my dog and her personality, she's very lovably and active usually. Now she's completely couch or should I say floor-locked and gave me a look like "what the hell is happening to me?"

she only ate 1 brownie and has eaten lots more chocolate before so I think and hope she'll be okay. Just hope the rest of her trip is a bit smoother..

Sugar, Fruit Juices, simple energy Carbs, like us this will help alot to bring her down, its prolly a little late now by the time im posting but it still may help some. Im not sure ignoring the Dog is gonna help any at all & i cant see it myself, the dog will be confused as it is & will need comforting im sure, thats the best thing to do to a scarred confused animal imo, they need to be reassurred that everything is OK, & believe me, dogs are very clever as we all know, dont treat het like some dumb animal ignoring her, Comfort her man, wrap her up in blanket, give Chocolate & fruit juices if you can, Vit C etc etc, even Vit C tablets crushed up in her food would help im sure.

A dog would have to eat an increadible amount of Chocolate to actually kill it, i have given dogs loads of it over the years & the only thing bad ive observed was the sloppy water like shit's they get from having too much, as for killing a dog with Chocolate, ive never heard of that one & i was brought up with Gun'Dogs & hunting & ive seen a little in my time, chocholate killing a dog not being one of them! they are mammals just like we!

btw ive seen alot of stoned dogs in my time, they've all seemed to like it lol, ime you'll have to keep an eye on your stash or she may just have more of a taste for it than you think lol! Im sure she will be fine!

Thanks for the advice Scroger!! I agree, I consider my dogs like human beings, part of the family, and treat them like so.. I'll be doing everything I can do to make her trip easier because I can only imagine what she's going through, she has no idea!

i had a chow mix when i was in high school, got home one day and there he was on the porch with a half eatin plant between his feet lol. i never forced it on him or really smoked around him and he loved it. after that he would be for shot guns. i wouldnt hold his nose tho he did like that lol

all a dog needs is a 1/16th of a regular cookie to put them in puppy head space,
any more they trip, shit/piss all over the place, and sleep.

A friend of mine had a little yapper (10 lbs), and it ate an entire double sized chocolate bar. I went online to figure out toxicity levels, and it depends on weight and type of chocolate (dark is worse). Basically, I found ot that anything over a chocolate bar's worth for a small dog can be potentially fatal.

1 tsp H2O2 per 10lb of dog to induce vomiting. This saved my Weimaraner after she ate rat poison. And my friend's little yappy dog.

I'm sorry friend but I disagree, maybe if you some some little weezly pocket dog they might piss and poop all over your house, but a normal size dog with a normal sized bladder I think not....I have been around a lot of dogs who have eaten ganja one way or another and explosive diarrhea has never ever been the result...i'm sorry if it has for you, a stoned, pooping, barfing pooch sounds like something horrible lol.
