when is day one of flower?

when is day one of flower?

so i flipped to 12/12 10 days ago (18 oct)
my plants all showed sex on the same day (27 oct)
so how does one determine when day one of flower is?
just need to know so i can tell people who i give clones to what to expect.

also, when you have a clone, or a mature plant, when it is put into 12/12 lighting is that considered day one of flower or after flowers start to form?

i guess i need to do a bit more reading on it because these questions are nagging me a little bit.
thanks for any help.

Its all subjective. I consider the day after the first 12 hour dark period is day 1 of flowering.

Lots of breeders claim strains finish in 8-9 weeks, they dont tell you they mean from the first day they show flowers.

There is no standard, no uniformity. When i speak about my garden and the phenos i have, i try to state how many dark periods, (ie, I cut my Bogglegum after 52 12/12 periods).

well things are moving along smoothly here
culled the male, removed the blumat from the line, and trimmed some fan leaves.

well i decided to open up the blumats a bit to get more water in my pots since they're only wet right where it drips.
and if you're thinking that i flooded my grow tent you would be right.
i woke up this morning extra late and checked out my girls, only to find a good inch of water at the bottom of my tent.
the good news is that i got it nice and cleaned up, with no permanent damage done (if any really)
there isn't any bad news, unless you consider my plants loving all the extra food and growing like crazy bad news. i have about 10" (25cm) left before my lamp is at the top of my tent.
i guess its time to cut back on the N, and up the P and K to really start blowing up the flowers.
what is anyones experience with pure flowers and when to use it?
for those of you who love pics, even though its a plant that is only ~1 week into flower, i'll post up some pics here in a few.

the first two shots are trying to show how tall the plants are, and the rest of them are random flower shots. a few of them are already putting out some trichs but they didn't really show up in the photos.

Nice looking plants! I'm following along to see how the blumats work out for you. I grow in coco too and travel a lot and need something to keep my plants watered. My last plant didn't work out too well. Great job on the pics too, very nice.

Bluemat's seem cool, but my biggest issue is how you need the reservoir higher than the pots. No one else find this to be very difficult and limiting? Also, seems expensive in SOG setup. Thoughts?

If you grow SOG in a 1 meter square tent make a soil bed 1' deep in a homade box or whatever take a grid over the bed like a SCROG screen and plant however many clones, neatly then just move the drippers daily start in the corners and the middle and have NO MERCY!

im a new grower myself,so take what i say with a pinch of salt, but ive just got some blumats, and they seem awsome so far,no more collecting run off with a turkerbaster lol,im hoping to add airpots soon

the blumats work amazingly, as long as you dont turn them up too high and flood your pots.
i have gone out of town twice during this grow, with absolutely no worries about my plants getting water/food.

Hey mate, I managed to snag the blumat maxi full system from fleabay for about 70 percent less than the retail cost, I won't be able to use it till next time but can't wait.

Here is a couple of shots of the girls. Last 2 shots are of a 1l airpot in action

thats not bad for a 1L air pot, thats what i put my cuttings in. i only cloned one plant for some unknown reason, so hopefully its the better yielder/smoke.
not a bad deal on the blumats. the people i orderd from sent me two so i tried to do the right thing and send it back, but they never sent me a shipping label. so i got em at 50% off :D

plants are moving along nicely, had to refill the res on sunday instead of monday.
probably not that the girls are taking in more, just that i flooded them earlier last week.

i didn't put any micro in the mix this time, just 9ml of bloom and 5ml of grow per gallon (roughly)
i dont have exact measurements, and these girls seem to be very forgiving as far as nutes go.
one is smelling very much of coffee (the one i didn't clone >.<)
the other one has a much more complex smell, more like if you mixed rotten apples and mangoes with cat pee in one bucket and a skunks spray and beer shits in another bucket, then put both buckets in the sun for about 4 hours then mixed them together and left that bucket in the back of your car for a week.

week six day one

week six day one

today is the first day of week six, and the girls are moving along nicely.
i think the one on the left will finish up before the one on the right, and i'm working on making up a drying chamber out of an old tote.
anyway, on with the pics.

Your rolling right along antheis the plants look great.

I hope you don't mind a few blumat questions, I'm still intrigued. I've ran coco for a while with good results so as I see more and more guys having such a hands off grow with coco because of the blumats I can't help but notice.

What did you end up dosing the Pure Flowers at? I've heard its strong concentrated stuff.

Where are you at PPM/EC wise?

Air stone mixing rez?

Also, how well does the moistness disperse from the single drip point? Coming from a background of drippers and flooding I'm not sure how well coco wicks from single point watering. Is the opposite side of the pot from the dripper moist at all, or does that side stay dry and develop air roots?

may i ask which blumat system you bought and where you got it from?

Do you have any pics of the actual blumat plumbing?

Great grow!!

i never did end up using pure flowers, i'll use it on my next grow to gauge if its worth using or not.

i actually broke my tds meter about a month ago so i don't know what my ppm's are right now, but when i was using 6/9 ml of micro/bloom it was around 1200 iirc.
i switched to 0/9ml but my leaves started to yellow within a day so i added some grow at around 5ml/gal and i have noticed that my res lasts longer since about the fourth week.
i don't have any airstones in the res at all, just stir it up about once a day.
the coco does stay pretty dry and the plants are building air roots as well. i tried turning up the flow once, but flooded my tent. i think since then i'm a little gun shy about turning it up, next grow i think i'll use two blumats per pot since they're large enough for it.
pretty low tech and hands off, but its my first grow to completion so i don't want to do too much to it.

its the tropf blumat.

here you can see the main line going to each individual dripper and the smaller dripper line (3mm i believe) going to each 'sensor'
