What's new

RDWC clones in for a week...

well this room was set up for the winter... but we are having a warm fall and its not in tune with the room yet lol....

nothing wrong with pk. out gassing. seen that problem with those exact buckets. Could also be the hoses your using. With that amount of plastic in your grow room, it has to be. In warmer months, the Phthalates start out gassing more. didnt affect our larger plants. maybe they had greater immunity. The plants looked exactly as yours. Didn't have this problem in winter, plants grew perfectly fine. You can change your ec/ppm pH, wont make a difference. You must remove any out gassing source immediately as it can harm people and children around them in a closed area. It isn't pythium, if you say the roots are fine. You should still introduce BB to prevent any kind of pathogen attack in hydro situation. bring a plant outside the room, let it go for a week or two. If you dont notice the leaf curl and necrosis, then the culprit is in your new room.

are you letting your water sit out and de chlorinate a bit? too much chlorine in the water can knock your micros out of solution..

some places have nasty ass water, and degassing cant hurt. the tap water from texas lakes tastes like algae and chlorine, and is packed with limestone, and calcium. I grew with out RO using Flora Nova Micro and Bloom, and added cal, mag, but I am also used to growing with that tap, and making dank, so it doesnt effect my plants. But to avoid years of practice unless you get fresh mountain or spring water from the Rockies, great smokies, Sierra Nevadas or Cascades then you wanna go with R0, or at least a tap filter to take out some of the BS.

I went over tonight and shot the shit with poopy. We came up with the rockwool was being over watered, and a couple days of heat didn't help. The plants that look good have established roots, and the plants still dragging ass have no roots poking out. We basically figured let the rockwool bone out and let the bubbles tease the roots down rather then over babying them. The room was pro, put together very nicely, and is going to bring down massive numbers!

not if it is offgassing. Ive seen bigger setups loose yield to the problem, you guys should really nail it before it becomes a serious problem. all the best.

ive already lost a rdwc to off gassing nwg hose since then ALL the hose has been ripped out and replaced with hydrofarm hose... 1/2 and 3/4 hose.... no off gasssing here

Ive seen the buckets themselves without hoses off gas in higher temps. Something they use to plasticize them. I find it the case ONLY with the cheaper brand of buckets.

most hydro growers here use bb. ive used great white in dwc, no problem worked great, only thing was way expensive, so started brewing my own tea to add to res. All those products usually contain either Bacillus, Trichoderma and Mycorrhizae. Your case i'd give it a go at weak strength. At least then we can find out if its just pathogen or offgassing.

On the subject of 5gal buckets for this stuff.

Good Hydro 5gal buckets: .90mm (flip her over and look for this on the bottom) $6.00

Home Depot Homer Bucket: .75mm $2.57+tx

SHITTY hydro bucket: .70mm (this store should really be ashamed of themselves) $6.00

Lowe's Bucket: ????? $????

I'm guessing the Lowe's buckets are good for light proofing because you said white roots, just wondering what is their thickness?

shouldn't be any off gassing in there, the NGW hose has been removed, system is freshly rebuilt with off gassing in mind.

I get butt raped at the grow store and pay like 8-10 for some thick black buckets. Sucks ass but no light proofing to do, I know I could order online for a bit cheaper but driving to the store is easier. We need an off gassing test kit. I am anxious to see how that clone does in the buckets poopy.

well I'm glad you got it figured out. good luck and all. over soaking rockwool for too long and over heating seems like a logical answer to what was causing your problem. Those leaves were definitely withered like that, but some times it is hard to tell from pics.

good luck
