Harvest Time!

Hey there everybody.

Well I have just spent HOURS harvesting 5 plants so I thought I'd put a wee report up following the progress.

The girls were meant to have another week. However last night I came home after a few days away and discovered a little bit of mold in one of the larger cola's. When I find mold, I harvest, straight away! I couldnt bear the thought that there might be more in there hidden away. So that kinda sucks. Also it caused me to have to strip all of my HUGE colas down into smaller buds to examine. Anyway damage wasnt bad at all, maybe 10 grams ABSOLUTE max!

So it was a prick of a night as Id been out the night befor and only got in at 5am so staying up through the night harvesting was the last thing I wanted to do! But...it needed doing.

So I called my bro around and we got stuck in. The plants were big so we did branch by branch and pulled everything off (to dry on racks I got from the $2 shop) We stripped buds off branches and pulled all the fan leaves off. We left most of the litle bud leaves as they were coated in sugar anyway. Once we had done all that we placed all the buds on the racks and hung the racks in my room with 2 oscilating fans blowing air around under them and a 150 mm centrifugal fan pulling air from the tent. I have a dehumidifier running outside of the tent (in the room) with the door to the room shut. I've purchased some jars especially for the occasion, and a lab grade hygrometer with calibration kit. The buds have now been up 12 hours or so. I intend to jar them up and follow Simons curing method when they're ready.

Sorry for all the rambling Time for some pics!

Hope ya's all enjoy the pictures! My bro made the stupid mistake of saying "I'd love to trim for a job" on the drive to my house. After 6 hours of non stop trimming he wasnt so enthusiastic! Anybody out there who thinks trimming is "fun"...mate I couldnt disagree more! We started at 4:30 pm and finished at 12:30 am this morning.

I will update this as the buds shrink and dry, and then I'll keep it updated when I jar them and the humidity levels etc!

Take care people!

awsome harvest bro... did all that weed come from 2 plants? u might of said but i been smokin cheese all day... rep+

Hey kronikal, I tried to PM you but it looks like I don't have enough posts yet. I'm curious as to how you got started. Did you start from clones or from seed? If from seed, did you buy them online?

Cheers bro

I started from clones. If you wanted a look theres a bit of a (poorly kept) diary here http://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?p=3876015

They were veged for 3 weeks prior to flowering, and were approximately 50 cm tall. After the stretch they reached between 1 metre and 1.2 metres.

Anyway people. I jarred everything up this morning cause it was feeling too dry and real crispy. But after a few hours in the jars the humidity has risen to 78% and the weeds soft again. Cause I'm following simons method I'm going to pull it all out and try again tomorrow.

Time for some pics...

As you can see the buds looking gorgeous! I'm gonna leave the girls to cure (using Simons method) and hopefully I'll be able to pull them out for the Christmas/New Years period!

Take care people!

Alright so last night the humidity in the jars was getting really quite high so I pulled all the buds out and put them on the racks to dry a little bit more. This morning when I checked on them they were really crispy so I'm hoping I haven't completely stuffed them! I jarred them up and the hygrometer read 39.7% however that was 2 hours ago and now its on 46.6% so I'm hoping at the least it rises to 60-65% so I can give it a good cure. In Simons thread he says if the product stays below 55% then it cant be cured, so I'm a little worried!

The buds are really hard and if the cure goes well, and they get their smell back, it will be an incredible harvest!

Does anyone know how long, roughly, until the chlorophyll leaves the buds and they go that silvery colour cause even though they're really dry they're still quite green?

They won't always turn that silvery color. I've found that to be strain dependent. Still, any color change for me usually takes at least a few weeks.

Great looking harvest man, good call on pulling early and stripping from stems. Honestly, if you had a mold scare, over drying isn't the worst thing in the world. Better too dry than covered in mold!

Your rug however, is the worst thing in the world. I've never seen anything so hideous...

Hey there people

I've got the hygrometer (only got one, another one's arriving tomorrow) in the jar with the Affy as it seemed to be the crispiest. I've left the jar closed all day and it's finally risen to 55.7 % so my harvest isn't wrecked! I was a little worried when they were so crispy this morning! I cant wait till the smell starts to come outta these girls! They stunk so bad when I was growing them so I cant wait to smell, and smoke the finished product!

You reckon you could PM me dude? I've got a few Q's I wanted to ask you outside of this thread but, again, I don't have enough posts yet. Looking good though man!

wow awsome jar shots man.

i run a dog rescue and had mastiffs all my life.. this is my first rotti... fuckin brilliant dog

Hey there everybody!

I feel honoured that you all took the time to take a look! I'll make sure to send you all some Rep+!

The jars have sat in a nice dark corner of the house for the last few days and the RH has steadily increased. Today the Affy jar is sitting at 67.3% and the Dutch is at 69.1%. Now I know that people in simons thread might find this alarming being so close to 70% but bear in mind this has taken days to creep up the much so I'm not overly worried. I have the jars open at the moment and in a few hours I'll close them up again. As in Simons thread Im aiming for a RH in the jars of around 60%.

Mate...I could go on about Rotts all day! I love my dogs to bits and pieces they're truly an awesome bread, so calm, and yet such incredibly good guard dogs! Mastiff's would be a lovely dog too, so much drool though!

BeardedClam
Cheers bro, cant wait till I'm smoking it!

generalgrowth
Thanks man! Yeah I grew in a relatively simple recirculating hydro setup, using Canna nutes.

Got them off a mate, dont know where he gets them sorry.

Yeah the carpets shit as! It was like that when we got the place. I've gotta 6 month old though who'll be a todler in no time so theres no point getting new carpet until he's old enough to now destroy it!

Really looks good. If I may, shoot a little higher than 60% for the product you plan to consume in the short term, a month or two. 55-60% is better for product that is stored for a longer period. HTH

Simon

Of course you may Simon. It's an honour to see you in my thread. And of course I'll take any advice you offer as, after all, you are the legend who created this wonderful method of curing.

Hoping this is gonna be my berst harvest yet with a good cure! The jars smell really strong and the buds are slowly starting to regain their smell (outside of the jar). I'll aim for low 60's then Simon, cheers for the advice!

Good work, buds and yield look great.

Just harvested last night too, spotted mould just like you so out they came.

I had 5 plants as well, did it on my own so took 10hrs including the washing up. Absolutely sucked!

I put a TV and a DVD player in the room and watched pot movies for motivation. Helped but I'm glad it'll be a while before I have to do it again.
