Mother Chucker's Jack Herer OG and some quality bagseed

Been meaning to post this up since I started the seeds 3 weeks ago, but life got busy.

Anyway, this is my first grow thread here on icmag. I've had my medical card for a year now and had been growing from co-op clones until spider mites (and my lack of proactive mite combat) destroyed my garden in may. Cleaned everything as best as I could, but did not fog, so there is a chance they will return. Most annoying part of it was that it happened just as I was ready flip my new 300 watt vertical cmh set-up into flower.

I was planning to use bagseed to start back up with, but the co-op I go to started carrying the mother chucker's line and I figured why not do some of both. I ended up getting Jack Herer OG. Its a fairly deep hybrid considering Jack is a 3 way cross and the OG used is mother chucker's twitter OG which is OG Bubba x (OG Bubba x Trainwreck). I am very interested to see what kind of phenos I will get. For the bagseed, I have 1 Candy Goo, 1 Super Bubba, and a bunch of seeds from some sour d that looked nothing like sour d. Looked more like some OG. I got about 20 seeds from a gram nug and it was the only bud in the eighth that had seeds. Almost seemed like the bud was deliberately pollinated.

Seeds were soaked in shot glasses of RO water with Botanicare Seaplex @ 10ml/gal and Superthrive @ 1ml/gal for 12 hours

Then I moved them to damp paper towels in baggies.

Then I made the biggest mistake ever and used Miracle Grow brand perlite. It was cheaper than the regular stuff, but it has some fertilizer added. It has an NPK of .04 .01 .06 so I figured it was safe. Not so much.

A few seedlings got burnt a little and others had some distorted margins. Then when they needed light feeding I was noticing precipitates when adding 1ml/gal GH Flora Micro and Bloom. After about a week and a half I decided to buy new perlite and transplant.

About a week ago, I transplanted the seedlings to mini hempy buckets in 12 oz cups. The bottom layer is lava rock with a 50/50 mixture of perlite and vermiculite on top (vermiculite was cheaper than perlite). Now the seedlings are finally starting to take off, but are still showing some deficiencies.

Ive have had a hard time finding specific Nutrient requirements for young cannabis plants. Most people just say "use 1/4 strength". Yesterday I found the following profile:
N = 70 ppm
P = 50 ppm
K=120 ppm
Ca = 150 ppm
Mg = 40 ppm
S= 50 ppm

This was talking about tomatoes on GardenWeb, but was posted by the handle "lucas_formulas" and signed as lucas. Whether its him or not and whether or not he's really talking about tomatoes I don't know, but tomatoes do like a bit higher EC than cannabis so I was afraid to use that recipe.

The day before Yesterday I fed the babies 3.5ml micro and 7 ml bloom/gal. This gives the following profile:
N:56
P:46
K:80
Ca:57
Mg:32
S:21

This mix gave an EC of ~.8. All but 1 seedling looks like it wants more, so I may try to get closer to the first profile with some pk 13/14 and epsom salts subbed for half the bloom.

Pictures coming soon. Im new to camera raw, but I hope to figure it out this afternoon.

Heres some shots of my hybrid pl-l fluorescent/red led flowering cabinet from a few harvests back. 5 of the seedlings will be flowered in it while the others will be put in my vert cmh set up.

Bought some Potassium Chloride and Calcium Chloride today. Seedlings are looking good, but I think they would be doing better if can get closer to the profile I posted from lucas above. Also, I noticed the cannastats site has both mel frank's and ph's formula for starting plants. It doesnt list Ca or S values, just NPK MG. The one I found from lucas on GardenWeb sits in the mel frank ranges. About to feed 4ml/gal micro and 6.8 ml/gal bloom with added epsom salt, KCl, and CaCl2, and sulfuric acid to get a profile of:
N:65
P:45
K:113
Ca:115
Mg:40
S:45
Cl:108
Just the 4ml micro and 6.8 ml bloom gives a profile of:
N:65
P:45
K:80
Ca:65
Mg:31
S:21
Cl:0

Hopefully this isn't too much Chloride for my young plants, but I found an article outlining desirable water quality for greenhouse production and it said that Chloride would not burn roots until over 150 ppm.

I will take some pics and post once the babies have had a chance to react to the new mix for a few hours.

Another Diesel top and Candy Goo bottom:

The runt diesel:

Forgot to take a pick, but the candy goo has a ton a root mass visible through the drain hole on the side. Ill try to update with new pics monday since they should be changing pretty fast now.

Took pics monday, but didn't get a chance to upload the pics before the owner of the camera went out of town. Those pics plus fresh ones coming next week.

Im thinking about doing all 14 in my LED cab SOG style instead of splitting them up into both cabs. I was originally going to do the 5 in the LED cab followed by another 6 in the CMH cab and use the remaining 3 to fill in for any males once discovered. Now I'm thinking that would be a big/hassle waste of time considering the unknown growth profiles/gender of my plants.

Now I'm trying to decide If I still want to put up a trellis to help even out the SOG or just go traditional lollypopped SOG.

Been busy and haven't had access to a camera. Hopefully I'll be able to take pics more often in flower.

As of today, 8 of the Jack Herrer OGs and 4 of the bagseed are in their 5th day of 12/12 in my fluorescent/led cab(see above for pics of the lighting).

I don't usually mess around with topping, but I kind of feel like a few of these would grow better topped instead of single cola, is it too late to top since they are almost a week into 12/12?

I'll try to get some pics up tonight or tomorrow.
