Nice design, looking forward how this goes. Does the light have different socket? Kinda looked like it was connected from both ends. I've seen similar type of light in some small aqurium tanks, and they sell them in some aqurium shops. Minor details but wanted to know.

That is correct. It looks like a ceramic socket, and it does attach on each side. It IS also from an aquarium store. It IS actually an aquarium CMH light bulb for growing hard corals. I think it has 20,000 lumens, it might be more. I don't know right now, as I am pretty high how many exact lumens there are... but there are a lot.

I disassembled a 150.00 light with hood to build this grow, but you could build this with a ballast at home for much much less. especially online. I took it apart because I was no longer using it for fish. I figured I would use it for medicine. More pics soon to come.

The Blue Dream ladies are doing well. the third one in though does not look like the others. It looks like an indica not a sativa. I am wondering what the mystery clone might be.

All the ladies are very sturdy and I have already cleared the screen with the rear two plants and the front one. Originally I decided on putting the screen in the front.

I finally settled on putting the screen in the back. I have still to purchase the screen for the front of the box, but I will wait until the indica looking plant and the other late starter are tall enough to be through it. Then it will be applied.

These air pumps have never worked for me. I am using (4) 2 ft bubble wands does anyone know of an inexpensive 4 valve hard cranking air pump? I could really use it.

Here are some pictures of the progression since my last pictoral update.

Looking great Boleman!!
gotta love that blue...plants do for sure!!
take care

I do like the way the CMH is working. The plants definately do, as you said sir. OK, here's a couple of new pics guys... Hope you like em! I've eaten 4 brownies and smoked 8 bowls so far today, so I'm excited about it.

This is the first plant, I have fimmed her at 6 nodes in heighth, and am low stress naturally scrogging her until I can afford the second screen. But As you can see, one almost does not need a screen at all. With a small bend each day up to but not past the point of cracking, the plant will eventually grow in the way it is trained.
picture.php

This is the second plant in the straight 5 cylinder grow sump. It is the runt of the litter, and was just fimmed yesterday. You can see it poking out it's first mini segments now.
picture.php

This is the third plant in on the line. Aka the Median plant. I was told when I bought my clones that they were all Blue Dream. This is obviously not the case, because this plant looks nothing like her sisters, and is definitely looking like an Indica variety.

This is a shot of the Ladies' Vertical height.

This pic details the major difference in just two days that the screen has filled up. I'll be flipping the lights in no time at this rate of growth.
picture.php

Also, I didn't think I had enough air circulation, so I drilled two more equal size holes on the front door of the underside of the fish tank and purchased (2) 120mm fan clip-on filter setups, screwed the backing to the front of the door, and oualla. Filtered air for my plants and front cool in to back hot out air conduction. Now, I can simply pop off the covers with the filter inside, clean the filter and replace. Very simple and efficient.
picture.php

Now this picture is of the full unit. The tank with stand is 3'x3'x5.5'. The growing area of the unit is 3'x3'x2.25', and here it is in all it's glory.

Let me know what you think as always... and happy growing!

Root Porn etc.

Root Porn etc.

Here is a Pic of the roots now.

picture.php

a shot of the screen 70 per cent full.

picture.php

a shot of the whole box. Notice I have already tucked the tops twice.

picture.php

the second plant down the line, I should have taken off the macro setting, but you can still see that I have now effectively turned one plant into five.

picture.php

I accidentally cracked the stem on the front plant, so there is tape holding it until it heals. These chutes are still poking out marvelously.

picture.php

This pic is intended to show you how I wrap my screen. Over and under the lattice of the screen. You can also notice if you look close that at each bend over the screen, there are little nodes shooting out at the section of the stem, when I fill the screen with plant stem weave I will lop the top off sending all of these little ladies shooting up to the roof as an independent plant by the end.

picture.php

in this menagerie of leaves, you can see that the stems of the rear plants are all intertwined in the screen. This is the overall goal of my method, fill the screen; cut the tops; grow to 5" from light and flip lights. So you know what to expect from my future posts, you are now psychic.

Peace all!

Ready for a big difference? This is the plants with one week gone by. I am one week from flipping the lights. It seems that the plants grow faster when put into a screen if you look at the previous pics, and then these with the second screen in.

The most beautiful aquarium I've ever seen :D Nice work so far, I'm in ;)

Greetings,
Garuda.

Thank you very much Garuda and Cheesebuds. I just acquired a 125gal tank though, so this Reef/Medical Cabinet will probably be up for auction after the first harvest.

Wow, props. This is a very clever idea and it looks effing awesome. I would say almost sci-fi in a way, but still obviously what will be high functioning.

Kudos.

the temperature is at about 79 degrees consistantly. It has been up to 82 on the warm days, but I have seen no issues. I have two powered fans pushing the exhaust out of the top back of the cabinet, and I have two passive intakes at the bottom of the front of the cabinet. I will probably end up powering the intakes too though. you know anyone who wants this set up when I am done with it?

This is the passive intakes on the front door of the base of the fish tank. you can see that I have put 120mm fan covers with internal filter on here. This is to prevent dust from coming into the cabinet. I might put actual fans on the backside of the b door so you can't see them by the end of the grow.

Here is an update of the grow. By the way, this grow box just sold to be picked up when the grow is done.

Flipped the lights to 12/12 yesterday.

I just flipped the lights, as the plants are mostly half way to the light. I hear blue dream bulks up nice, let's see what happens...

The way the light just beams through the plants leaves is a stellar show of how these 150 watt Compact Metal Halide bulbs really are. They penetrate.

Oh, Yeah

Oh, Yeah

I just realized that you have not seen anything that shows the scale magnitude of these plants compared to my last ones. I have put a normal sized Bic lighter into the box sitting at the same height as the screen. If you can find it, it will tell you just how tall these plants really are. They are already as tall if not taller than the completed flower of my last micro grow. Since they are a sative, I am told that they will get about twice as tall as they are now.

Man I fim like crazy now since hearing you rave about it a while back in I think, your second fridge grow(?)...I fim the crap out of my plants for my bigroom and..holy crap man, i got like 5 zips off a plant that went into 12/12 at 10x10" and 1' tall..it was one of 4 plants vegged under a 63w led....I'm obsessed with fimming now....thanks so much man. The way you explained fiming realllllly helped me increase my yields. :respect:
