I just have 2 questions and 1 comment.

What are the two hoses in the first pic? Just feed/drain lines? and are those just normally stacked buckets or is something going on inside them?

You should look into vertical lighting.

The two hoses are the feed and waste line.. the bottom bucket collected the waste and also so the top bucket is a bit higher, so i could crawl under and do my thing with a bit of space as i was using the scrog method..
also i will be running vertical lights this run if i can figure out my problems first..

Everyone thinks MPB is the way to go just because doubleds pulls 4# plants... that system is super expensive to set up and really hard to get dialed in... you must also consider that most of the people running MPB systems have as many lights as plants to achieve these results and are running sealed rooms with c02.
Doubled's 22k 23 plant MPB setup actually pulls close to 30kw when you factor in the two 3 ton a/c units, chillers, pumps ect. I think he also has an additional 8x600 for when the temps can handle it.
I hav read doubled's diy forum and it is very similar to what i am trying to do at the moment.. I know a few people pulling 4 pound a plant but they just dont get on the net and talk to the world about it.. I believe that doubled's mpb buckets are a great way of growing but he is not the originator of the rdwc mpb buckets, he is just well publicised, and most people pulling those kinds of figures dont want people to know how they do it.. So hats off to dd for that.. Also i believe the returns far out weigh the elec and initial setup costs .. Thats If anyone decides they want to give their produce away for any donations in return.. not that i condone that in any way... lol
Last run i was actually using quite a bit of electricity aswell, i was running 4x600w above and 4x 125 cfl's as under and side lighting during flower plus i ran a 1500w heater during the dark cycle to keep temps at an average to try and stop internodel stretching..
I'm really not too conscerned about the power bill as i just grow for learning, fun and the love of it.. I haven't even smoked in years..
I love a beer or twenty tho.. lol
Not sure if i have even made any sense here at all? I hav just got home from a nightclub.. happy days

Thanks for sharing your grow with us, wooey. I'm a coco guy myself and I love the stuff. That said, I can totally understand why you'd want to try out a new method. Good for you for not settling on one method even though it was obviously working for you. Helps to keep things interesting for sure.

I'm still trying to learn as much as I can about rdwc, so I don't really have anything technical to add to the discussion. I'm doing as much reading as I can and writing things down as I go. I think if I spend enough time on prep, I will feel more confident when I finally decide to make the jump to rdwc.

The start up costs are kinda prohibitive though and I can't afford to lose a whole crop at this point. Heath Robinson has a great thread here on IC where he explains his latest grow. That guy has got this whole bucket thing down!

I guess I just wanted to wish you well and thank you for sharing your grow. I'll be watching this thread so I can learn some more.

Those coco plants looked killer, man. What strain is that?

I hope you get it figured out soon wooey, and when you get it dialed in make sure to post an update. Your coco babes are killer. I'd be hard pressed to move away from a system that is doing that well. All the best to you.

Thanks man really appreciate it..
I really dont know what strain it is, it has been passed around a few growers i know for years.. They seem to believe it is northern lights.. It is very similar to the northern lights i have seen in books and on the net but i couldn't tell you exactly to be honest.. But all i do know is that it produces well and lots of people really enjoy it..
I've been told im crazy for fixing something that aint broken but i really just want to try new things and learn more.. I really do believe i can do things bigger, better, cheaper and faster.. There is so many things that i know i could of done better in my previous grows.. it all just really excites me.. Could go as far to say that i'm obsessed by it all.. lol
I'm a young bloke that owns a succesful business so i'm not to worried about spending money on trying new things.. Its really awesome that i hav found somewhere i can talk to people and learn more.. Especially from people who love it as much as i do..
Cheers

i second that statement... if you have nwg.com hose you need to chuck it and get some hydrofarm hose... also change your water if you have nwg.com hose it will help alittle may save them...

There is no writing on the tubing at all. Myself and friends hav used it for sometime without any ill effects. I'm thinking the pvc waste line or the mini res plastic. There was a bit of plastic smell when the lights turned on the first few days with the new setup. So maybe some gases prohibiting photosynthesis????

The buckets are 50 L with run to waste.. In veg i only ran 2x 600 hps but 4x 600 hps in flower plus 4x 125w cfl's as side and under lighting.
They were top feed twice a day with 24 degrees celcious water temp at one minute at a time, until flower i ran 3 times a day at 2 mins.. They used about 100L a week then flushed with 60L of ph water at 24 degrees celcious. Also foliar feed them a couple times a week.
They were fimmed and only a few clones taken to prevent stressing them. There also was a heater in the room to keep temps on an average seein tho it was winter and i was sucking air from outside.
I used house and garden A+B, Rhysotonic, cannazym, nitrozyme, cargo boost, cobra beneficial bacteria, silica and grotek monster grow for a bit of a nitrogen boost when needed.
In flower i used house and garden A+B, bud xl, top booster, multizym and shooting powder. also fulvic acid, silica, rock juice, rhyztonic and rock resinator.. So a fair bit of $$ in nutes but it seemed to of paid off.

Wooey,
Thanks for the detailed answer.Almost 8 off that little watts , with only two plants is off the charts. Is that ro or tap?I might try the monster grow as h@g lacks a little nitro in veg.I started using verde with cocos a/b.So your pots are around twelve gal. inside trashcans for drainage?I would say fuck dwc if your coco rocks that hard.i'm doing 5gal nursery pots dtw coco , you make me want to do much bigger pots!:)When did you start training them into your scrog, at the flip?

It was just plain tap water but i am gonna be using ro next time.. I put them into scrog on the flip but i was always gently massaging them down a little prior to that.. i would definately try to grow them into the scrog from the start if i do it again, would be a bit easier in the plants.. I would definately use bigger pots as the root mass is unbelievable thus making bigger better plants.. I was totally root bound in the end even tho they were 50L pots. There was even a monster root mass that had grown through the grainage holes and hung down about a foot into the drainage bucket.. I reckon i could of done even better if i had bigger pots again!!! The pots were both from my local hydro store.

Good job on the coco monsters. We're you influenced by Mblaze at all? He pulls 2-3 per coco tree with 600's and 15 gallon pots DTW. I see a lot of similarities.
